Chapter 6: Two dragons
The entire guildhall trembled from the force of the clash between the two Dragon Slayers. The battle between Natsu and Gajeel raged on, the air thick with the intensity of their magical abilities. Every attack was a violent spectacle of fire and iron, with the very ground beneath them cracking under the weight of their power.
Natsu vs. Gajeel
Natsu's fists were ablaze, his fiery determination pushing him forward as Gajeel sneered, his body coated in iron. The two Dragon Slayers had been locked in combat for what seemed like hours, but neither was willing to yield. Natsu's fire raged like an unstoppable force, while Gajeel's iron magic met every one of his attacks with cold, metallic precision.
"You can't win, Salamander!" Gajeel taunted, his voice filled with biting contempt. "You'll never beat me with just fire!"
Natsu's eyes burned with intensity. "I'll show you, Gajeel. This isn't just about fire. It's about never backing down!" He thrust his fist forward. "Fire Dragon's Flame Strike!"
Flames erupted from his fist, shooting straight at Gajeel. The attack surged through the air like a wave of molten fury. But Gajeel grinned, his body shifting into iron as he thrust his arm out.
"Iron Dragon's Shield!" Gajeel's body transformed, turning into an impenetrable wall of metal. The fire collided with the iron shield, causing a massive explosion that filled the arena with smoke and fire.
For a moment, all was still. Then, as the smoke cleared, both Dragon Slayers were seen standing, both breathing heavily but determined to continue.
Gajeel sneered, licking his lips. "Not bad, Salamander, but you'll need more than that to take me down." With a roar, he spun around, creating a vortex of iron spikes with his spin. "Iron Dragon's Whirlwind!"
A cyclone of razor-sharp metal spun toward Natsu with destructive force, but Natsu was prepared. With a roar, he charged straight at the incoming storm, flames engulfing his body.
"Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu shouted as he released a massive torrent of fire directly at the cyclone. The two forces collided in a violent explosion, the resulting shockwave knocking back the spectators and sending debris flying. But Natsu didn't falter, continuing his charge with unyielding resolve.
Gajeel watched as Natsu closed in, his eyes narrowing. "Tch. You're really pushing it, Salamander," he roared, raising his fists for another attack.
Natsu's face was determined, his body crackling with fiery energy. "I'm not done yet, Gajeel!" He swung his arm forward. "Fire Dragon's Secret Art - Calidos Brachium Purgatory: Flame Burial!"
The air around Natsu exploded into flames as his punch connected with the air, sending a wave of fiery energy directly at Gajeel. The power was overwhelming, a surge of heat so intense it seared the surrounding ground. Gajeel's eyes widened in shock as the fiery blast barreled toward him. He raised his arms to shield himself, but the flames overwhelmed him.
"Not…like… this…!" Gajeel grunted, the intense heat singeing through his iron armor and forcing him back. The flames consumed his body for a brief moment, leaving him stumbling and scorched.
Natsu stood firm, his body surrounded by a fierce aura of fire. With a final shout, he hurled the remaining flames toward Gajeel, engulfing him in a torrent of fire.
The force of the attack was immense, the explosion of flames loud enough to be heard from across the guildhall. Gajeel collapsed to the ground, his body battered and burned, his iron form shattered by the intense firepower.
He looked up at Natsu, a begrudging respect in his eyes. "Damn you, Salamander…" Gajeel muttered, a grin spreading across his face despite his injuries. "Next time we meet, I'll be ready. But for now, I'm outta here."
Gajeel, defeated but not broken, limped off into the shadows, leaving Natsu standing triumphantly in the center of the battleground.
The Fairy Tail members who had been watching the battle from the sidelines let out a collective sigh of relief. Gray, who had been one of the onlookers, cracked a smile. "Guess Natsu finally beat him, huh?"
Erza, standing alongside him, nodded. "It was a hard-fought battle, but Natsu pulled through. Gajeel's tough, but his pride got the better of him."
Shiro stood with Seiran by his side, both of them watching the aftermath with interest. "Natsu's fire is relentless," Shiro remarked. "Gajeel might have the edge in raw power, but Natsu's determination is what won him this fight."
Seiran crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the scorch marks left in the wake of the battle. "I agree. Gajeel is strong, but Natsu fights like he has nothing to lose."
Izuna stood at a distance, observing the fight with a calm expression. "Gajeel is a strong adversary, but he underestimated Natsu's resolve," he said, his voice calm and almost detached. "He was always going to lose in the end."
As Natsu stood victorious, the battle continued to rage elsewhere. Master Makarov, his face etched with age and wisdom, confronted Jose with unyielding determination. Makarov had already held his own against Phantom Lord's forces, but now he was ready to bring this battle to its conclusion.
Jose grinned wickedly, his gravity manipulation magic weighing heavily on Makarov. "You can't win this fight, old man. You're too weak, too old."
Makarov's eyes glinted. "I've seen many battles in my day, and I'm far from finished. It's time to end this."
With a roar, Makarov raised his hands to the sky, calling on the full force of his magic. "Fairy Law!"
A massive surge of light erupted from his body, flooding the battlefield with blinding energy. The light shot toward Jose, piercing through his gravity barrier with ease. The magic was pure, powerful, and unstoppable. Jose's face contorted in pain as the magic overwhelmed him.
"No… no!" he shouted, but it was too late. The blinding light enveloped him, and in an instant, Jose was defeated, his body crumpling to the ground as the light faded.
Makarov stood tall, his chest heaving, but his resolve unbroken. "Fairy Tail never surrenders."
With both Gajeel and Jose defeated, the remaining members of Phantom Lord's guild were either in retreat or captured. The battle was over, but the cost had been high. As Natsu and the others regrouped, the damage to the guildhall was evident, but the sense of victory was palpable.
Natsu, his body covered in bruises but his spirit unbroken, walked over to where the others were standing. He gave Gajeel's retreating figure one last glance before turning his attention to his guildmates. "Well, that was one hell of a fight," he said with a grin.
Gray chuckled. "You were about to burn that guy to a crisp, huh?"
"I guess he got the message," Natsu replied, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"It's a good thing he ran, or i might have turned him into an eternal glacier." Seiran remarked with a smirk
Natsu grinned. "Sure whatever you say ."
Shiro's face was serious, but there was a slight smirk on his lips. "You did well, Natsu. You showed Gajeel what it means to be a Dragon Slayer."
Erza and Izuna joined them, with Erza offering a proud smile. "It's rare to see Gajeel retreat like that. You truly did earn that victory."
Izuna said nothing, but his cold, calculating gaze was approving. "You were better than I expected."
Master Makarov, having dealt with Jose, approached the group. "I'm proud of all of you. You fought bravely today. But remember, this victory doesn't mark the end of our journey. We must continue to protect what's ours."
Natsu grinned. "Right! No one messes with Fairy Tail!"
The guild members cheered, the loud sound of their camaraderie echoing throughout the guildhall. But Natsu's thoughts lingered on the fight with Gajeel. It wasn't just about winning; it was about proving that no matter what, he would always fight for his friends, his guild, and his home.
