NOVEL NEXT Chapter 30: The Duel
When it came to the unexpected duel, the guild members didn't seem surprised, as this is a normal thing. In the past, many people challenged Gildarts. These people included geniuses like Macao and Wakaba.
A few years ago these two were extremely passionate about being the strongest, so they challenged Gildarts many times. And the result is that they obviously got their butts handed to them.
Gradually years went by, and the number of challengers who wanted to battle Gildarts decreased drastically.
" Boys gambling tables are open. You can place your bets on how much time Akira will last against Gildarts. " Makarov, the father of all these troublemakers, shouted as he took the lead and set up the gambling table.
" I bet on 10 minutes, " one person said after some thinking. He placed 100 jewels on the small section that had written 10-15 minutes.
" Really 10 minutes? You are too naive. I bet on 5 minutes, " said another as he also placed his money.
" Hahaha, you both are too naive. I bet it would be a one-hit K.O., " another said as he also placed his own bet.
Like that, others also began to place their bets rapidly. None of them placed their bets on Akira's victory, as it was an impossible outcome.
After all, Gildarts was the strongest. No matter how much of a monster Akira is. It's still too early for him to take on Gildarts.
Looking at the shameless companions who were betting on him, Akira had the urge to beat them up. Although he knew he was no match for Gildarts, couldn't these guys not shout so loudly about it?
And you, Laxus, why the hell are you also joining them? Aren't you supposed to be the tsundere young master? Why the hell are you joining these guys and placing your bet on the one-hit K.O. section?
Looking at Akira's face, which was slowly turning into the color of his hair, Gildarts couldn't help but chuckle. ' This kid sure is interesting,' he thought with a smile.
At first, Gildarts thought he was like your everyday kid who is very arrogant and has no sense of danger. But within these few minutes, Gildarts found that this kid was more special than that. Not only is this kid more mature than any other kid he has seen, but he is also quite strong.
Even Gildarts had to admit that compared to him, this kid is way stronger than when he was at his age. This made Gildarts very interested in this kid and want to guide him so he would become a new pillar for the guild.
" Okay, boys, the rules are simple: each of you is forbidden from seriously injuring each other. The victor would be decided when one of you is either knocked unconscious or is unable to continue to fight. And also Gildarts, please make sure you hold back and do not destroy the guild. " Makarov said as he also took the role of the referee.
Both Akira and Gildarts nodded in agreement to these rules.
" Okay in one, two, three, " Makarov shouted as he fired a small flare to announce the start of the duel.
The first one to move was Akira. He instantly entered Rimuru mode and fired numerous blue flaming lances at Gildarts.
In this battle, Akira had no illusion that he could beat Gildarts in a head-on fight. But despite this, Akira wanted to at least leave a scar on Gildarts.
His only chance to do that is if he manages to analyze his opponent to the best of his abilities. And most importantly, an analysis of Crush magic.
This way he may be able to nullify Gildarts. Magic for a short amount of time. And this time is something he needed to end this match.
With that thought in mind, Akira continued to fire various fire magic arrows toward Gildarts at a rapid rate like a machine gun. Gildarts didn't even bother to dodge as he just used his enormous magic power that acted like a barrier to block the arrows.
Seeing this, Akira changed his tactic and began to concentrate his fire at a single point. This proves to be effective as Gildarts had to actively begin to destroy the magic attacks. Seeing this, Akira began to increase his attack speed.
Seeing this, Gildarts had no choice but to take this fight a bit seriously. " Crush " Gildarts shouted as a white enveloped his fists. He then threw a punch straight toward incoming magic attacks.
There was no resistance as Akira's magic arrows were directly broken into numerous cubes that denoted themselves the next second. The ground was cracked as dust flew everywhere.
"Hahaha, is that all, kid? " Gildarts grinned, but his grin froze as the dust cleared; he saw Akira looking at him with a smile, and on his hand was a very large bazooka that was aimed straight at him.
" Fusion Magic: Bazooka. " Akira grinned as he fired the magic cannon that was made by the combination of light, fire, and lightning magics.
A magic beam made out of colorful lights fired straight toward Gildarts, who was flabbergasted. Wasn't fusion magic supposed to be something only experienced wizards would do? How much of a genius is Akira to do this alone while still being a brat?
Gildarts wasn't the only person who was surprised about Akira's fusion magic. Even Makarov and others almost stumbled back in shock seeing it. Even he never thought Akira would be able to reach such heights. One must know that it isn't even a year since I first started learning magic.
'What a monster,' they all thought in unison.
The only one who wasn't surprised about this is Sera. She already knew that Akira had an entire library of in-depth knowledge of Magic in his head after reading through all the books in Lady Irene's private library.
So with such advanced magic knowledge, it is just a matter of time before he pulls off a stunt like that.
Hearing everyone's thoughts about his new trick, Akira couldn't help but smile proudly. But unlike what Sera thought, the only reason he could use this trick was due to him having the assistance of Great Sage.
Multi-tasking is a bit too much even for him. And besides, although the attack looked very powerful, it actually wasn't that much different from one of his regular attacks. Even Great Sage's perfect magic control has a limit. So even though he uses multiple magics at once, each magic spell is very weak and simple.
And besides, the only reason he even went out of his way to use such a complicated spell is for one reason.
" Crush " Gildarts shouted as he punched the incoming strike. Like the previous time, as soon as his fists touched the magic attack, they began to break into numerous cubes and detonated.
From the smoke, three Akiras rushed out wielding various weapons such as swords, a bo staff, and a spear. Gildarts frowned as he looked at the three of them.
"Illusion Magic, huh? You kids sure are one hell of a monster. " Gildarts grinned as he took the three of their attacks head-on.
As the battle went on, Gildarts began to notice something. Despite his years of experience, he was slowly getting cornered by this kid who wasn't even ten years old.
And what's more, he had this strange feeling that this kid seemed to be reading his mind as he was slowly getting used to his attack patterns.
Suddenly Gildarts, who was lost in his thoughts, felt his dangerous senses tingle as two chains came out of the ground and wrapped around his hands.
" Now " the three Akira's shouted as they rushed towards Gildarts at the same time. They showed no hesitation as they brandished their weapons at him.
" Crush" Gildarts simply said as he just activated his crush magic to crush everything. An intense white glow came out of his body and crushed the chains that were binding him.
" Damn "
" Too strong"
" Call the admin; we have a cheater here. "
The three Akiras said as they were blown away by the magic wave. They all looked at Gildarts like he was a monster.
Gildarts grinned and was about to say something when he suddenly noticed that all of the Akira's had a small imperceptible smirk on their faces.
Gildarts had a bad feeling as suddenly on the ground under him a magic circle appeared, and Akira's voice rang out,
" Enchantment Magic: Suppression "
