Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Godzilla?
Misaki and Kiria were assigned two of the five rooms on the main deck. After two days of adapting, they began to get used to this life and were no longer as afraid of Aegon as they initially were.
Selene fulfilled her promise that following her would be the best choice for Misaki and Kiria.
Over the past two days, aside from spending nights with Aegon, Selene mostly spent her time guiding Misaki and Kiria in their training.
Selene's dragon magic, Moon, included spatial attributes, allowing her to traverse spaces quickly and manipulate her own space. This was Selene's unique talent, not an ability all Moon Fox Dragons possessed.
Although different from the spatial abilities of the Abyssal Dragon, there were similarities, and Selene could always provide guidance to Misaki.
Moreover, with Selene's strength, she was qualified to teach, even if their methods were entirely different.
Watching Misaki and Kiria spar had become a pastime for Aegon and Irene.
There was no denying that watching beautiful girls fight was quite pleasing to the eye...
The Blade Dragon and Abyssal Dragon were completely different. The Blade Dragon was a pure physical warrior, while the Abyssal Dragon leaned towards a long-range mage. This meant that in close combat, Kiria had the upper hand, but once Misaki used Blue Dimension, Kiria stood no chance.
After Kiria was defeated by Misaki once again, Selene nodded. "Not bad."
Selene was satisfied with Misaki and Kiria's current combat abilities. In another ten years or so, Juliet and the others would not be a match for Misaki and Kiria.
…
Unbeknownst to them, the ship had already left Guiltina. In about three more days, they would reach the northern border of Ishgar.
"How is this possible?!"
While piloting the ship, Mera's pupils suddenly contracted. She saw a massive, moving source of magic on the map...
Aegon, Selene, and Irene felt it too.
At the same time, Juliet's exclamation came from outside,
"Lord Aegon! Come look outside!"
When Aegon and Irene reached the deck, Juliet, Misaki, and Kiria were all looking seriously into the distance.
From the deck, they saw a long, glowing blue dorsal fin cutting through the sea surface.
Though it was far away, just that huge dorsal fin seemed to be over fifty meters long.
As if sensing their gaze, or perhaps just coming up for air, the giant beast suddenly submerged, its tail slamming into the sea, causing massive waves before disappearing. The magic source on the map also vanished...
This giant beast reminded Aegon of a legendary creature—Godzilla!
However, without seeing its full form, he couldn't be certain. Given that Earthland lacked nuclear weapons, he guessed it was just a similar creature.
The ocean was clearly the beast's domain, and since it disappeared quickly, he didn't pursue it recklessly.
Irene massaged her temples. "Including the tail, it must be over a hundred meters long."
Selene narrowed her eyes and nodded slightly. "More importantly, its magic is not weak. This beast's strength definitely surpasses Georg Reizen's."
Although it was only a fleeting glimpse, Selene felt vast magic from the beast.
Georg Reizen was a good benchmark for strength. Surpassing him meant the beast was at least dragon king level.
Of course, at the weakest dragon king level.
After all, the strength of dragon kings could vary greatly, like the difference between the Fire Dragon King Igneel and the Thunder Dragon King Alexion.
"That's terrifying..." Kiria muttered.
Selene shrugged easily. "But it seems to live in the sea, so there's no need to worry too much."
Misaki and Kiria sighed in relief. "That's good…"
"Wow, is this called inserting a flag?" Aegon thought inwardly.
Irene still felt uneasy. "But why have we never seen such a giant sea beast before?"
Selene voiced her theory. "Either the ocean is too vast, or this beast disappeared from history along with the other continents and reappeared with them."
Even Selene couldn't find a similar giant beast in ancient texts, so she leaned towards the latter explanation.
She then chuckled, "Besides, didn't you say you spent most of your time either in the deep mountains of Ishgar or in the Alvarez Empire? It's normal you haven't seen it."
"That's true."
Admitting that Selene had a point, Irene didn't argue.
Aegon nonchalantly shook his head. "Forget it. Since it's gone, we can study it when we meet again."
He was becoming increasingly intrigued by this world. He didn't expect to see a creature so similar to Godzilla.
Who knew if a King Ghidorah or Kraken might appear next...
As for King Kong...
This world indeed had something similar. August had mentioned a race of giant apes on the newly appeared continent.
....
Sometimes, luck can be quite strange.
When Aegon and Irene traveled from the Alvarez Empire to Guiltina, the journey was smooth sailing all the way through.
However, on their way from Guiltina to Ishgar, over the course of several days, they encountered several aerial magical beasts attacking them.
The strongest among them was a Golden Feather Eagle with feathers as tough as refined iron, and wings spanning over twenty meters, which provided Aegon with 450,000 experience points.
In terms of magical power, this Golden Feather Eagle was similar to Juliet and the others, but even when Juliet, Misaki, and Kiria joined forces, they were still defeated by the Golden Feather Eagle, mainly due to its iron-like feathers.
Their output was insufficient to deal with the Golden Feather Eagle's defenses.
Instead of killing the Golden Feather Eagle, Aegon tamed it, treating it as a pet that could guard their future settlement.
Initially, Selene thought she might have attracted so many attacks from aerial magical beasts due to her bad luck, but now she realized it was probably just a coincidence.
Standing at the bow of the airship, Selene looked out over the sea. "It feels like the oceans are becoming unsafe."
Irene's expression turned serious. "I have the same feeling."
This feeling shared by Irene and Selene wasn't a misconception; it was based on their recent observations in the sea over the past few days.
Apart from the sea creature resembling Godzilla they initially encountered, these past days, Selene and Irene, who enjoyed standing at the bow to admire the scenery, also saw a colossal tortoise carrying what looked like a giant mountain on its back. If it stayed stationary, it could easily be mistaken for an island. They also witnessed whales estimated to be over a hundred meters in size, their spouts reaching over a hundred meters high into the air.
"If that's the case, I feel that the land may not be safe either."
A male voice came from behind. In the gaze of Irene and Selene, Aegon, wearing only a shirt and casual pants, had also arrived at the bow.
It was his habit. He didn't like to appear serious in front of close people; his cold demeanor was for his enemies to see, but warmth was reserved unconditionally for those he loved.
Irene was slightly surprised. "Why are you here?"
"Just wanted to," Aegon said casually.
Ignoring Selene's disdainful glance, he squeezed into the space between the two women and teasingly wrapped his arms around their waists. "You two have been either sightseeing or teaching Misaki and Kiria these past few days. How about showing a bit more concern for me?"
Misaki and Kiria, who were training on the main deck, inexplicably took a hit...
"If you've sunk to the point where you need us to care, isn't that pathetic?" Selene glanced at him askance, retorting without any good grace.
"Alright, back to business. Why did you say that?" Watching their interactions, Irene both sighed and smiled as she patted the man's chest.
Aegon shrugged. "Well, actually, I just had Mera check for me. Recently, the kingdoms along the coastlines of several continents have been facing attacks from sea creatures. Even giant sea serpents and black dragons have appeared. The southern coast of the Alvarez Empire, for instance, suffered an attack from a dragon."
"A dragon? What was the outcome?"
"I heard the dragon was unstoppable, causing heavy losses until August stepped in to resolve it."
Irene nodded knowingly. "Unstoppable, huh..."
Though she didn't have a clear understanding, she knew the military stationed along the coastline of the Alvarez Empire was strong, with the leading magicians at least nearing the level of Ishgar's Holy Ten Magicians. She hadn't expected them to fail against a dragon.
Curiously blinking her big eyes, Selene asked, "Who's August?"
Irene explained succinctly, "A magician from the Alvarez Empire, on par with me. You'll meet him later if there's a chance."
As they chatted, the airship had already approached the coastline of northern Ishgar.
Though they were flying in the sky, with Aegon and Irene's vision, they could clearly see battles unfolding below.
Irene's pupils contracted, her tone filled with astonishment. "They've actually built military defense projects?"
In simpler terms, it was an Ice and Snow Great Wall.
Irene knew very well that there had originally been no such Ice and Snow Great Wall in northern Ishgar.
This meant that the attacks from sea creatures must have been so frequent that they necessitated the construction of this Ice and Snow Great Wall.
She hadn't expected such dramatic changes to occur outside in such a short period.
Leading the charge was a sea lion with a body length exceeding twenty meters, entirely blue in color, with two gigantic tusks. Its fist-sized eyes were wide open, its golden vertical pupils staring straight at the Ice and Snow Great Wall. Behind it were numerous sea creatures.
With a roar, the sea lion shook the towering waves, crashing them against the Ice and Snow Great Wall!
"You guys wait here."
Aegon leaped straight down from a kilometer high, transforming into a black dragon over thirty meters long. With a loud sonic boom, he sped towards the ground, his sharp red eyes gleaming with a red light as he looked down at the Ice and Snow Great Wall below.
A dragon roar thundered like a shocking thunderbolt, deafening,
The solid ice and snow covering the Ice and Snow Great Wall began to slide off,
And it made the guards on the Ice and Snow Great Wall feel as if their eardrums were about to burst...
"Hurry, look at the sky!"
"Why is it happening again!"
"It seems to be... a dragon?!"
"Damn it! How can even dragons appear now!"
"Black Dragon! Black Dragon!"
Various curses came from the Ice and Snow Great Wall.
Seeing the black dragon up close, the guards could feel the insignificance and weakness of humans.
Under the horrified gaze of the guards on the Ice and Snow Great Wall, the black dragon breathed out azure flames, sweeping across the Wall!
The sea lion sensed Aegon's presence and immediately planned to flee. However, a kilometer distance meant only a few seconds for Aegon. Before the sea lion could turn around, it was already engulfed by the flames!
With a booming sound like an earthquake, the guards on the Ice and Snow Great Wall felt a bit unsteady on their feet, feeling that the bricks and stones beneath them were trembling. This was the Ice Magic Masters from the Northern Territory coming together to build a Great Wall!
They dared not imagine what effect the black dragon's flames would have on this Great Wall...
A flame over twenty miles long ignited before the Ice and Snow Great Wall, and the ice surface over two meters thick was directly pierced by this roar, causing countless sea creatures crawling on the ice to fall back into the sea!
Various experience notification sounds continued to spread, and the sea lion also gave 299,000 experience points to Aegon, the thick aroma of scorched meat permeated the air, but Aegon merely glanced at it and once again flew back to the sky. His actions were only for experience, not to help these guards.
"Close call... this giant dragon doesn't seem to be coming for us."
The guards on the Ice and Snow Great Wall gazed at the rapidly disappearing black dragon with lingering fear.
Though it was only a brief encounter, the black dragon left an indelible impression on the guards of the Great Wall...
"Alright, let's go."
Returning to the airship, Aegon seemed to have taken a stroll outside.
But Selene and Irene had long since grown accustomed to Aegon's intervention, assuming he just enjoyed hunting magical creatures.
