Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Misaki & Kiria
Seeing that Aegon didn't object, Selene leaned back on the sofa, crossed her legs, folded her arms, and watched Misaki and Kiria, who were slumped on the ground.
Irene slightly raised her head, gesturing for them to sit on the opposite sofa. "Sit, don't just sit on the ground."
After Kiria stood up, her legs were still trembling uncontrollably. Seeing this, Heine helped her over to sit down.
"Thank you…"
"Alright, first tell me your names."
Misaki took a deep breath before answering, "I'm Misaki, and she's Kiria."
"The one who was killed just now was your guild master?"
"Yes, the guild master of the Dragon Eaters Guild, 'Diabolos,' Georg Reizen."
"Dragon Eaters Guild?"
"Diabolos?"
Selene and Irene fell into contemplation simultaneously.
Irene reacted first. "Mera, look up information on 'Diabolos'."
Selene then asked the next question, "How many members does your guild have?"
"Besides the guild master, all the members are around our age."
Selene then asked a seemingly irrelevant question, "How many boys and how many girls?"
Although a bit confused, Misaki didn't dare to hide anything. "There are six boys and just the two of us girls."
Hearing that the rest were boys, Selene immediately lost interest.
Meanwhile, Mera, using her ancient text magic, found the information on 'Diabolos'.
"'Diabolos' is a legitimate guild established twenty years ago. The guild master is Georg Reizen, and all members are Dragon Slayers. The guild was founded with the primary purpose of hunting dragons, although they occasionally take on other tasks."
"The members derive their power from consuming dragon meat. The guild operates quite freely, not very favored by the Council of Giltena. The current number of members matches what they just said."
Using ancient text magic, Mira projected a large virtual frame in front of Aegon, displaying the members of 'Diabolos'.
Since 'Diabolos' was a legitimate guild, the members' information was accessible.
Aegon merely glanced over it and lost interest.
Although it was a group of Dragon Slayers, they were still not fully matured. Even if he killed them now, they would only provide a small amount of experience points, not worth the effort.
Irene lightly rested her chin on her hand. "Power derived from consuming dragon meat, huh? So Dragon Slayers can be created this way…"
Irene suddenly realized she didn't know as much about Dragon Slayer magic as she thought.
In Earthland, and on its various continents, people were considered adults at fifteen. Misaki and Kiria's information showed they were fourteen and twelve, respectively.
This matched Irene and Selene's expectations.
Misaki and Kiria obviously didn't expect Mira to find information on 'Diabolos' so easily, making them quite anxious.
Misaki began to feel relieved that she hadn't lied earlier.
Selene turned to Aegon with a slightly amused tone and said, "I want to keep them."
Misaki and Kiria were old enough to understand the implications of this.
If Aegon had said this, it would have carried a different connotation, suggesting some sort of servitude.
But coming from Selene, it sounded more like an offer to become her subordinates.
Submit to me and work for me—that was the gist of it.
Aegon shrugged nonchalantly. "Up to you."
Irene smiled mischievously, leaned over, and whispered in his ear, "Just enjoy it."
"... When did I become that kind of person in your eyes?"
Aegon felt wronged. "You're slandering me!"
Irene replied matter-of-factly, "You've always been like this."
Selene ignored their whispered conversation, looking at Misaki and Kiria with a smile.
"You two shouldn't go back to 'Diabolos.' Follow me from now on. Trust me, it'll be the best choice you can make."
With no better options, Misaki and Kiria agreed without hesitation.
Besides, staying with Selene didn't seem like a bad thing.
After all, the first task Selene assigned them was to find a place for Kiria to eat the Blade Dragon they had killed.
The Blade Dragon was over fifteen meters long. It seemed impossible for one person to eat a dragon, but during the process, the consumed flesh and blood would continuously be converted into energy to transform the Dragon Slayer's body. Additionally, Dragon Slayers had large appetites, so eating a giant dragon didn't cause a feeling of fullness.
This method of creating Dragon Slayers through dragon meat had a drawback, according to Misaki.
They couldn't use dragon power without suffering irreversible consequences, including madness and death.
Another limitation was that an individual could only consume one type of dragon meat to gain Dragon Slayer magic.
That's why Georg Reizen let his guild members eat the dragons he killed.
Kiria felt awkward with a crowd watching her eat the dragon.
But she realized that Aegon, Irene, and Selene weren't interested in eating dragon meat. Aegon and Irene only took a glance before returning to the ship.
Aegon had no interest at all. A dragon roasted without any seasoning couldn't taste that good.
Watching Kiria devour the Blade Dragon, Selene suddenly remembered something and turned to Misaki. "By the way, I haven't asked you yet, what kind of dragon did you consume before?"
"An Abyssal Dragon."
Selene was thoughtful. "An Abyssal Dragon… Space and water attributes. I didn't expect him to find you an Abyssal Dragon to consume."
The Abyssal Dragon, related to the Water God Dragon but a different branch, was a feathered serpent. In terms of innate talent, it wasn't inferior to the Four Beast Dragon, making it a very powerful dragon. In comparison, the Blade Dragon was slightly less formidable.
Innate talent was crucial among dragons.
Without significant opportunities, a Blade Dragon couldn't match an Abyssal Dragon.
Similarly, Kiria, who consumed a Blade Dragon, wouldn't be able to match Misaki, who consumed an Abyssal Dragon.
Given the strength Georg Reizen showed against Aegon, Selene didn't believe he could single-handedly kill an adult Abyssal Dragon without using dragon power. Winning would come at a high cost.
Misaki thought for a moment, frowning as she tried to remember. "If I recall correctly, he said that the Abyssal Dragon was a juvenile."
"Do you remember its approximate length?"
"It should be about the same as this Blade Dragon."
Misaki had eaten the Abyssal Dragon two years ago, so she could only remember roughly.
"I see, then it was indeed a juvenile. Adult Abyssal Dragons are at least twenty meters long, and some can reach thirty meters."
