Fairy Tail Destiny

Chapter 26: Ch 26 : The End of Deliora

"Noel, Lucy, did you notice?" Noel asked calmly as he observed the surrounding enemies.

"Yeah, there are a lot of them, but their magic power feels weak…"

"Exactly. There are only about five real wizards among them. That being the case, Noel, you should go support Natsu and Gray. As for things here, Lucy, can I count on you?" Erza turned to look at Lucy and Noel.

Hearing Erza's request, Lucy confidently smiled and raised her Golden Key of Cancer. "No problem, leave it to me!"

Noel also nodded.

Although their enemies were numerous, with Erza here—and even Lucy—the battle wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Given that he possessed Wings of Light and could retreat anytime, there was no need for him to stay and waste time.

"Understood, I'll head over first. Erza, Lucy, once you're done here, come join me quickly."

As he spoke, glowing wings spread from Noel's back, and without hesitation, he took off into the sky, flying straight toward the ruins of the Moon Temple.

"Huh? The ruins that Natsu destroyed… have been restored?"

Just as he ascended and was about to reach the Moon Temple, Noel noticed that the temple had returned to its normal position and was once again absorbing the Moon Drip.

Finding this strange, he cast a small-scale Insight Light spell.

(Gray is currently fighting his senior… and Natsu…)

Noel's eyes widened in shock.

(Such powerful magic energy! Is this the hidden power I detected when I first arrived on the island? Who is it?)

Spreading his wings wider, Noel immediately accelerated.

(With Natsu's current strength, there's no way he can win against that opponent. I have to hurry!)

"Roar!"

As Noel accelerated, a deafening roar suddenly echoed in his ears.

"Is… Deliora about to die?" Noel murmured to himself as he listened to the demon's anguished cries.

Flapping his wings, he flew straight into the ruins, where he saw Natsu facing off against a masked figure.

"One of the Ten Wizard Saints, Noel Rutherford!"

Disguised behind her mask, Ultear gasped as she saw Noel enter. (Damn it… I wasn't expecting Noel Rutherford to show up here! If I have to face one of the Ten Wizard Saints head-on, I have no chance of winning right now…) she thought, her mind racing.

Noel landed between Natsu and Ultear, his face unusually serious. "Step back, Natsu," he commanded, shielding the young Dragon Slayer behind him.

"Noel, why?!" Natsu protested, clearly displeased. "This guy is my prey!"

Noel shook his head. "You're not ready to face this opponent yet, Natsu. This guy… is strong."

Natsu looked at Noel in confusion.

He knew that Noel never spoke carelessly. (Is this guy really so strong that even Noel has to take him seriously?) he wondered.

But what Natsu didn't realize was that Ultear had only been toying with him, using only half of her strength.

Roar!

Deliora let out another deafening roar as the last traces of ice vanished from its body.

Gray, who had just defeated Lyon and rushed into the ruins, gazed at the demon with a solemn expression.

Even though Noel had explained that Deliora had technically died the moment the ice was released, Gray couldn't help but feel a deep-seated fear from the shadow the demon had cast over his childhood.

His eyes drifted downward, catching sight of the water pooled on the ground from the melted ice.

Looking at the shimmering puddle, he murmured softly, "Ur...."

"You… you can't do it. That task belongs to me…" Lyon, struggling to get up from the ground, crawled toward Deliora. "To surpass Ur, I…"

He lifted his head, his eyes burning with fanaticism as he stared at the demon. "Finally… I've finally met you, Deliora. The monster Ur could never defeat… Now, I will be the one to destroy you. I… I will surpass you now! Ah—!"

"That's enough."

A calm voice interrupted him.

Before Lyon could react, Noel suddenly appeared behind him.

With a swift and precise chop to the neck, Lyon collapsed to the ground.

Noel then slowly stepped forward, standing before the towering Deliora.

The demon lashed out wildly with its arms, but its eyes were already empty, devoid of life.

Noel's expression turned solemn and reverent.

Raising his right hand, he gathered an immense amount of sacred light.

His gaze was peaceful as he looked upon the crumbling beast before him.

"You have already died… so why does this empty shell still remain? Let me send your body to rest, just as your life has already faded away."

"[Holy Light Magic—Funeral of Light]"

An infinite radiance erupted from Noel's right hand, expanding as it surged toward Deliora.

The light rapidly grew, stretching out like a massive net, enveloping the demon's enormous form completely.

Bathed in the divine light, Deliora's already fragile body began to break apart, crumbling like shattered stone.

Piece by piece, it disintegrated into dust, fading away into nothingness.

"How… how is this possible?! How could this happen?!" Lyon pounded the ground with his fist, his face filled with disbelief.

A single tear slipped from his eye as the harsh reality sank in—years of effort had all been in vain.

Unable to accept it, he cried out in anguish, "Damn it! I can't win… I can't surpass Ur!"

Noel, having completed the task, turned to Gray with a calm expression.

A faint trace of admiration flickered in his eyes.

"Your master… was truly remarkable. For ten years, she kept Deliora sealed in ice. If not for that, even the Moon Drip alone wouldn't have been enough to kill it. Truly… incredible."

Gray stared at the crumbling remains of Deliora.

Tears streamed down his face, but despite that, a faint smile formed on his lips.

"Thank you… Master."

Ultear clenched her fists tightly as she looked at the ashes left behind.

Her heart burned with frustration. (Damn it… this was a miscalculation. Deliora was already dead. There's no point in staying here any longer… I have to retreat.)

She cast one final glance at Noel, a flicker of intrigue flashing through her eyes. (Noel of the Ten Wizard Saints… Heh, I'll leave you to Jellal. A clash between two genius mages should be quite the spectacle. I won't be sticking around for this one.)

With that thought, Ultear made no further attempts to engage.

Without a word, she turned and leaped into the water, disappearing from sight.

"Escaped, huh?" Noel glanced at the spot where Ultear had been standing, noting that she had already vanished.

However, he didn't seem too concerned.

"Oh well. If they're planning something… we'll cross paths again sooner or later."
