FAILED HEART

Fred was enjoying his sleep at 7 am because it was a public holiday, Valentine's Day until he heard a loud knock.

"Fred, are you in?" It was Derek.

How did he know his house? Dammit! He must have followed him yesterday "Go away, Derek"

"I will break your door if you don't open up"

"Try me" Fred roared.

Derek banged the door continuously, "Your anger or voice is no match for my stubbornness."

Fred finally opened up and yelled, "What do you want?"

"It's a public holiday man, home is boring, and I have no other friends to go see"

"I am not your friend"

There was a moment of silence.

"You said you liked me"

"What? Are you gay?"

"Of course not, but I need a friend and I think you can be one"

Fred sighed, "I never told you I needed a friend Derek"

"Sometimes God gives you what you think you do not need" Derek sneaked into the house under Fred's arm.

"I never asked you to come in"

"Sometimes God tells you what a man wouldn't"

Fred rolled his eyes and closed the door; he went back to his bed.

"Your house is a mess!" Derek exclaimed, "Don't you ever clean?"

"I do not get visitors, so what's the need for cleaning?" Fred wouldn't say he was not embarrassed anyway.

"I am going to clean up and cook for you, and you come to my house, deal?"

"Hmm. Why do you need me in your house this badly?"

"My mom is worried I don't have a friend, and I am trying to make her feel better"

Fred felt compassion, "You will clean it twice a week for four weeks"

"Deal"

Fred was shocked that Derek agreed to it, he didn't expect it.

Fred hurried to the bathroom while Derek cleaned up. Fred was just done bathing and Derek opened up. Fred screamed; he was naked.

"What? Why are you screaming? We are both guys"

Fred was angry, he grabbed the towel and covered up immediately. "You are gay, but you don't know it, Derek"

Derek laughed out loud, "OMG, that was a massive rod you got there"

Fred burst out laughing too. "You are crazy"

"Put on reds, remember it's Valentine's"

"I will wear what I have"

"This is my house" Derek pointed at a milk-colored building.

"It's a nice place," Fred said without expression.

"Thank you, though I know you don't mean it" They got in and the first person seen was Lynn, Derek's sister.

"Is anybody home?" Derek asked her

"Nope, just me" She looked behind and caught a glimpse of Fred. "Good morning"

Fred was stunned at her beauty. He was in a daze for a few seconds before he snapped out. "Good morning beautiful"

Derek immediately looked at him, "Hey dude, don't hit on my sister"

"I am Frederick, Derek's friend" Fred offered his hands for a handshake, and she shook him

Derek was wowed. "Really? We have now become friends, right?"

"Ha ha, what do you mean Derek, we have been friends" Fred gave him a signal of approval.

Lynn smiled, "You are welcome. Mom and Dad would be glad to see you. This has never happened before"

"Thank you"

"Besides, I am Lynnette, Lynn for short"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Lynn"

Derek was already getting disgusted by their chemistry. "Enough please, come on in"

Lynn went out while Fred and Derek went in.

"Your sister is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen," Fred said wryly, he was fantasizing.

"Yeah, guys fight over her in school"

Fred glared at him and went back to his normal uptight behavior. "So…"

"So… What are we going to do?" Derek asked.

"Eat. I want to eat. Let's go to an eatery"

"Great idea, Fred"

"Yeah, to the eatery with your sister"

"You are falling in love with my sister?"

"Of course, not"

"Hmm, Fred"

"What? Please…"

"Okay, we would go, I need to go call her"
