FAILED HEART

Derek is nothing like Fred, but he always wants to act like him. Derek is cute, and Fred is sexy. Derek is jovial, and Fred is a killjoy. Derek has the tiniest voice in the class, Fred's voice sounds like an earthquake.

"What made you like this?" Derek asked after much hesitation.

"None of your business. Just leave me alone, Derek"

"OMG! You know my name?" Derek was almost screaming. Fred walked out on him, but he followed immediately. "You didn't even thank me for saving your ass"

Fred glared at him and kept on walking; he was heading for his classroom. He couldn't afford to miss another period. He mumbled something like thanks and entered the classroom, Derek didn't follow.

All eyes were on him, almost like an angel just walked in. If a pin had dropped, one would be able to hear its cry. Fred went straight to his desk and sat. He brought out a book from his bag and started reading. Still, everyone was watching him.

His crush, Freda, whispered something and everyone laughed. Yes, his crush. Almighty Fred had a crush, he could tell she was crushing on him as well but, she is playing the hard-to-get game.

"Where's Derek?" James asked Fred. James is the head boy. He hates Fred because he earns more respect than he did. He is a bully that has always sorted a means to get on Fred's nerves and hopefully get into a fight with him. Everyone fears Fred, but he is not scared, at least he shouldn't be, after all, he is the head boy. Fred glared at him for the question and buried his face back into his novel. This pissed off James. Now, everyone is watching. "Derek was the one who took your little ass to the sick bay to treat your deadly disease, so where Is he?"

Fred cleared his throat, "Am I Derek's keeper?"

James hit Fred's desk, and this startled almost every student in the class. "Don't let me ask you again, Fred, where is Derek?"

"Dammit, James" Fred stood up to face James. Their faces were as close as the butter and the bread in a toast. "I killed him." Fred gave James one last stern, and he leaves the class for the library. Mr. Monday's period is almost over, and he never came to the class, so what is the need of staying in a class with several cowards?

Fred furiously walked into the library and this caught the Librarian's attention, she watched him perambulate the science section meanwhile, he wished he had punched James in his face. He took out a book from the shelf and squeezed it to calm his nerves.

"Student!" The librarian called out immediately, and she realized she had altered the library rule of silence so, she quietly walked towards him. "Why did you squeeze it? You are going to pay for damages."

"How much is it?"

She was perplexed, but she was one of those corrupt staff who extort money from students. "A thousand Naira"

Fred dipped his hands into his pocket and gave her the money, he walked out of the library just after that.

"Spoiled rich kids," She hissed and placed the money into her brassiere while she hides behind the camera in that angle.
