Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves

Chapter 123: The Prestige of the Magic Emperor! (Part 2)

The people looked at each other, but in their eyes, one could see excitement and anticipation.

"Everyone." Wizard Shen Yu looked at them all now. "Stop lying on the ground."

"Yes!" Everyone immediately sat up, even the king who was grievously wounded by Divine Power struggled to rise with help from the others.

They no longer harbored any hesitation toward Wizard Shen Yu's command and orders.

Not merely because of his mighty strength and status, but because he was the only existence that could possibly save both themselves and their people!

"That is the situation." Wizard Shen Yu let Aivlette sit at his side, then looked at everyone and said gravely, "Helping you resist destruction, that is my trial, my task. But as you've just heard, the rules of the Divine Court forbid direct intervention or action, so neither you nor I can afford the slightest complacency simply because of the Divine Court's power. Understood?"

"We understand!" They responded again, all in unison.

This time, Wizard Shen Yu was clearly pouring cold water on them, yet each response was even louder.

No matter how bad it got, could it be worse or more despairing than before?

Having experienced what they did before, this was nothing.

Simply the thought that such a mighty Divine Court stood behind them filled them with the courage to face anything head-on.

"First, I will unify all the nations of this Plane," Wizard Shen Yu declared again, "including those kings outside who are about to be executed—their kingdoms must submit to the Magic Empire's rule. And the first mission is resource gathering. I need all kinds of magical materials, and I need a vast quantity of them!"

Everyone kept it firmly in mind.

They would not even wait until their return—soon, they would send magical communications immediately.

Action would begin at once.

"Second," Wizard Shen Yu looked toward Julia Mage and the other mages, "I will further optimize planar spells, search all-out for other Planes, and act swiftly. Julia Mage will be responsible for this first."

"I shall obey your will, Your Majesty." Julia rose, bowing respectfully toward Wizard Shen Yu.

"Third, I must comprehensively select children with mage talent…" Wizard Shen Yu spoke of the next matter.

Though they had just passed the trial of the gods' descent, the ensuing affairs remained exceedingly complicated.

Yet with each piece of business implemented, the whole Plane, even beyond to other Planes, was swept up into an uproar.

Wizard Shen Yu recorded all that had just transpired in the grand hall!

And began to spread it far and wide.

The Supreme Divine Court of All Heavens, the fall of Divine Spirits, the Ascension Trial…

These revelations became known to countless people in a very short time!

Many had refused to believe, yet in this world of gods, with such announcements, and the gods themselves silent,

That alone was enough to explain so much!

Moreover, many mages, strongmen, and even mages from other planes, were more inclined to accept all this.

Because they could feel that the Divine Punishment Curse upon them had indeed dissipated!

Unless the Curse God had suddenly withdrawn all of the Divine Punishment Curses, the only possibility was that He had utterly perished!

The renown of the Great Divine Court and the Magic Emperor spread in just a handful of days to every Plane the Magic Empire could reach!

Furthermore, as Wizard Shen Yu used fifteen billion Gray Mist to comprehensively optimize planar Teleportation Magic, and then created a Plane Exploration Magic, they discovered more and more Planes.

In only seven days, a total of nine Planes were found.

Every day, Wizard Shen Yu, in his great hall, would receive mages and kings arriving from far-off Planes.

He fully promoted the Demon Pattern Meditation Method as well.

At the same time, he traded with interstellar world Shen Yu for numerous Mining Robots, launching resource gathering on all Planes and constructing Plane Transmission Arrays, actively connecting every Plane.

Many mages of potential and power gathered here, with even some degree of population migration carried out.

Every action burned with fervor.

The name of the Magic Emperor echoed through one Plane after another!

Even, on the tenth day, upon opening the twelfth Plane, once again, the presence of Divine Punishment was found!

This made Wizard Shen Yu's spirits soar.

The explorations so far had made it clear: this world's Planes were like bubbles, each at some remove from the others.

So those Planes found earlier, the surrounding ones, had in most cases not yet manifested Divine Punishment.

Mages predicted that these Planes had originally been turned over to the Curse God for the first wave of apocalypse.

Judging by past patterns, such Planes allocated to the Curse God numbered at least twenty.

No one had expected to find so soon a Plane marked for apocalypse by other Divine Spirits?

Julia, tasked with exploration, personally led an elderly white-haired mage into the presence of Wizard Shen Yu.

This aged mage was no less powerful than Acosta had been, but before Wizard Shen Yu, he showed none of a strongman's bearing—he fell to the floor without hesitation, prostrating in grand obeisance.

"Mage Belial pays homage to the great Godslayer, Savior, Ascendant God, Trial Taker of the Supreme Divine Court, His Majesty the Magic Emperor!" The string of titles sounded like a ritual chant.

Wizard Shen Yu had grown used to such scenes by now.

In truth, he needed such publicity to rapidly establish absolute authority among humanity.

What's more, Wizard Shen Yu was worthy of such reverence.

What he had done defied the very notion of "Legend"; it was a mighty deed belonging to him alone.

Gazing upon the ancients and the future alike, none could compare!

Indeed, the title "Magic Emperor" seemed no longer merely to denote the emperor of the Magic Empire, but to approach the stature of the "Magic God."

"Rise, and speak of the Divine Punishment you encountered," Wizard Shen Yu appraised the mage, yet sensed no trace of Divine Punishment about him.

Evidently, it was not the type that lies dormant and then erupts.

"Your Majesty, it was the God of Poison!" Mage Belial began, describing how their civilization had suffered these days, unable to restrain his tragic emotion. "Perhaps also the Water Source God. Two days after the apocalypse Divine Oracle was issued, rain containing deadly poison fell ceaselessly from the sky. Any who touched it died within a few breaths, not only humans. Though we could shelter in homes and use spells to avoid the rain, the poison in time permeated all water sources…"

There was no need to say any more.

Humans can forego touching rain, but cannot survive without water.

Moreover, should this toxin truly enter the water cycle, then even the moisture in the air would hold its taint.

At that point, the people would be utterly powerless.

"How many remain upon your Plane?" Wizard Shen Yu asked further.

"Less than twenty percent—around four to five hundred million, all barely clinging to life." Belial bowed once more, eyes reddened.

One in five surviving—not an exaggeration to say apocalypse had arrived.

It meant endless calamity, and for those still alive, boundless fear and torment.

Wizard Shen Yu fell silent.

He had, in fact, anticipated such things; even wishing to conserve Divine Power, the gods could end worlds without difficulty.

This only made it all the more urgent to accelerate exploration of new Planes—the sooner they were found, the more lives might be saved.

As time passed, fewer could survive.

"Give me the toxin sample," he commanded directly.

At once, the toxin sample was sent to interstellar world Shen Yu.

Intersellar world Shen Yu responded swiftly as well.

To some extent, toxins and viruses were similar entities, especially directed toxins like this, which used specific chemical properties to destroy critical human cells and components.

Such matters could be resolved with technology.
