Chapter 144: Guess I’ll have to pull off an A.S.S. invasion now.
I sat on my new bed with an expression that probably looked like absolute shit or at least, that's what I wanted it to be.
But naturally… I couldn't even show my real feelings on my face.
So I just assumed I looked like I had a shitty expression even if my face refused to cooperate.
Why? Well, what else is a man supposed to feel when he finds out he's going to die soon?
Can't exactly start dancing in happiness, can I?
I was prepared to die and didn't mind going out in a fight or getting caught by surprise… but knowing your death is walking slowly toward you with every passing second?
Yeah. That was shit.
"Fuck."
I cursed again and forced my mind back into focus.
I had just taken a cold shower after discovering the truth, hoping it would distract me but instead it only sharpened everything, made the reality even clearer.
"So I have approximately eighty-nine days to live," I muttered, still struggling to believe it.
I mean, who would have thought that simply digging through my memories would attract some stalker of a god, force the Trickster Domain open prematurely… and screw me over this badly?
Still, it was what it was.
For now, I can't afford to think about it more… instead I needed to focus on what I could do.
"I need to get my hands on Eternal Blue Blood Flower."
I had heard about it back in the Church of Lament, when I was still in the human empire.
It was one of the major human churches and even though Ashborn didn't officially follow any religion, the Church of Lament was pretty prominent in Ashborn Territory.
My mother used to drag me there every Sunday when I was a child.
According to their teachings, this flower was a mythic relic mentioned in one of their divine legends.
A son desperate to save his dying mother prayed for a miracle and a God gave him a revelation to find the Eternal Blue Blood Flower and she could be saved.
So the son traveled across the entire world, even through demon and dragon domains, who were at war back then, just to find the flower.
And when he finally did… Well, if it were a fairytale, he would've saved his mother but instead, the God who gave him the revelation snatched the flower away for himself.
That's how the legend went, at least before it turned brutal.
The son, enraged by the loss of his mother, rebelled and eventually became a God in his own right after hunting down the one who betrayed him and killing him without mercy.
Yeah, bloody tale, but I had a feeling it was true.
God Lament existed, after all and he was one of the twenty two primordial gods.
…And there I went, getting sidetracked and wasting a few more precious seconds of my dwindling lifespan.
Anyway, the legend alone told me enough about the flower's rarity. Even gods had to play games with mortals just to get their hands on it.
That meant I would definitely end up crossing a few bottom-tier gods on the way.
Sure, they couldn't touch me directly due to whole cosmic restrictions and all that holy fine print but sending their little pawns on me?
Yeah… that was a whole different headache coming my way.
Thankfully, the high-level gods wouldn't care. Sure, the flower was rare… but not to them. With their near-unlimited lifespans, they had no use for it.
In the novel, only two places were ever said to contain this flower.
And the first was somewhere I absolutely did not want to go this early:
The Divine Realm of a Dead God.
When a god dies, their divinity returns to the world and condenses into a realm as an inheritance zone of sorts accessible through portals just like dungeons.
And one of those realms was dormant in this world, slowly accumulating energy until it could manifest.
A process that took hundreds, sometimes thousands of years.
According to the story, one such realm would finally reveal itself in half a year and inside that realm… Noah had found the Eternal Blue Blood Flower.
But yeah, that place was more dangerous than Forest of Unmasked because unlike the forest where there were monsters only below D-Rank, the divine realm had all kinds of monstrosities upto A-Rank.
I couldn't even ask anyone for help.
The Demon King was a messed-up being and one of the few lunatics who would do absolutely anything to get his hands on that flower… all because he wanted to live longer.
He had a restriction that prevented him from surviving past a certain age and he knew that taking the Eternal Blue Blood Flower would push that limit further.
And it would give him more time to experiment with new ways of dying permanently without having to restart from scratch.
As for Morvana, yeah, she was a danger and somehow tied to my cosmic stalker.
Or at least that's what I had pieced together.
So telling her anything about the flower or my time limit?
Yeah. Not happening.
So, yeah, that place was a no go to me at my current level.
I mean, what am I even supposed to do there? Show the monster my messed up mind and win the fight?
If only it was that simple.
So, that left me with the only other place where the Eternal Blue Blood Flower was ever said to exist.
A place completely unreachable at my current level.
…Or at least that's what most people believed.
The Headquarters of A.S.S.
Well more accurately, the planet hosting one of the bases of that alien sovereign species.
Alvanta.
The only other location in the entire novel where an Eternal Blue Blood Flower had ever appeared.
And, right now, the only hope I had.
"Guess I'll have to pull off an A.S.S. invasion now," I muttered, already picturing the madness that awaited me.
Adventure, whether I liked it or not.
