Chapter 138: Great Underwear Theft.
Still, that part about the flaw or whatever the hell the book was talking about, yeah, I had a feeling I wasn't going to like it.
The book kept doing its thing, pages turning and glowing faintly as it wrote line after line.
I kept watching for a few more minutes, but… nothing.
No names.
No symbols.
Just endless, relentless writing.
"Great," I muttered. "A stalker book with commitment issues. Just what I needed."
Well, whatever. I could deal with it later.
Right now, I needed to focus on something else, specifically, on who the hell Veluna was.
Because I had a feeling that finding her… might uncover something I wasn't supposed to know.
But I had to be discreet about it. If she was hiding her real name, then there was definitely something suspicious and the last thing I needed was to raise a death flag by making her suspicious of me.
I also needed to check what that damn book meant by "flaw," and that mysterious skill that I couldn't check since I got it as if the universe itself didn't want me to see it.
But I couldn't do that now because, if my guess was right, my body was probably lying cold on that street bench… right next to that naked pervert.
And who knows what that idiot might do if he wakes up before I do.
So first thing's first, I needed to wake up from this Domain.
Everything else could wait.
I focused, trying to sense something, a thread or a way out, anything.
"But… how do I exit again?" I muttered, scanning the empty void.
There sure as hell wasn't a glowing door with an EXIT sign hanging above it.
Just then my eyes caught a movement and shifted to the golden book as new lines began to carve themselves into its pages.
"Rael frowned, unable to find the exit, when the exit was his will alone. He could enter and leave anytime he wished, he just had to will it."
I stared at the page, deadpan.
"Oh, sure," I muttered. "Now you decide to be helpful."
Still, that actually surprised me.
Whatever this book or ability was, it wasn't just some passive narrating crap. It was interactive and it was giving me answers sometimes.
And I could already think of a few situations where that might come in handy…
…but that would have to wait.
Right now, I have a more urgent problem.
I needed to deal with a pervert on the loose.
With that thought, I willed myself to exit the Domain.
The crimson pillars began to collapse one by one, dissolving into streams of light.
The floating cards circled faster, merging with each other until only a single, massive orb of glowing energy remained.
Then, it all moved.
The orb drifted toward me and pressed against my chest, merging into my body with a blinding light.
A current went through my body and then, I felt my consciousness snapping back.
—
Meanwhile, in the outside world, a boy lying in a pool of grey blood suddenly snapped his eyes open.
A series of sharp cracks echoed through the night as his neck and bones twisted back into place, mending themselves.
He blinked, then looked down at his body.
Still naked and wearing underwear on his head.
"Oh… no." He whispered, voice trembling. "They're going to kill me."
His whole body shivered at the thought.
He was Arckon Darkheart, the youngest son of the Darkheart noble family of the Demon Realm and currently, the prime bullying target of the stronger students in his new class.
A first-year and fresh from the Sacred Forest of Unmasked.
After completing his entrance test, just as he was going to his assigned dormitory, he had been immediately cornered by a group of powerful first-years led by one smug demon whose brother was in second year.
They had given him a simple test to bring back a pair of blue underwear before sunrise.
Or don't bother showing up to class alive.
He had been wandering through the academy to find it but he hadn't seen a single student.
He could've easily found what he needed in the dormitory area if his bullies hadn't already taken everything from him.
That included the Mana-Bracelet the academy provided to help new students locate their dorms.
Instead, they had left him with just one thing: a single emblem, engraved with their crest.
It didn't point toward safety and only showed the way back to them.
"What… what should I do now?" Arckon muttered, racking his mind for options.
That's when his gaze stopped on a boy sleeping peacefully on a nearby bench.
He squinted, stepping closer.
"Wait… isn't that the guy who kicked me?"
But the moment he got a proper look, his body trembled for a moment.
A shiver crawled down his spine.
"That face… no way."
His voice dropped to a whisper.
"Isn't he the one the Demon King chose as his successor today?"
"What was his name again?"
"…Rael, right?"
His body trembled but he saw an opportunity.
"What if I… steal his underwear?"
The words left his mouth before his brain could stop them.
"I mean, Eric wouldn't mind if it's not blue if I tell him it's from the successor of Demon King, right?"
"And this guy is unconscious anyway… he would never even know it was me."
Arckon swallowed hard, glancing at Rael's peacefully sleeping form.
"Yeah… this could work. I just have to get his pants down."
Arckon reached toward the unconscious boy, sweat beading on his forehead. His hands trembled as he reached out, praying to every god, demon and spirit that the boy didn't wake up.
But fate clearly wasn't on his side.
Or maybe it was just that the boy before him was too loved by fate to let anyone else screw him down before she did.
Because at that exact moment, Rael's eyes snapped open and the first thing he saw… was a half-naked demon, clutching the belt of his pants and trying to pull them down.
A smile appeared on his face.
"May God forgive you but I won't."
