Chapter 338: Jaden, The Genie…
Each of the massive figures, standing 7-8 meters tall and radiating peak 2nd-phase power, was a bone golem. Eliminating the frail weakness of the normal undead, these were overflowing with physical power, with a high defensive constitution. Although they were fewer in number, the difficulty increased tremendously. The students were faced with a new form of terror. Unable to adapt completely to this form of the enemies, too many of them started to die, almost akin to bugs being squashed.
Not to mention, even though the secondary front of students had eliminated more than 3000 of the undead, they spent too much of their energies and stamina; they were dead tired, exhausted, and injured, only to now face a horde of enemies much, much stronger than before in every possible way.
However, the first front of students, consisting of six, did not feel any tension within them at the sight of the almost 200 bone golems surrounding them. But they only smiled; till now, they had been facing the endless number of undead individually.
But now, they were surrounded from all sides, their backs against one another. They started working together in pairs, unleashing their colossal power with terrifying fury.
Jaden created countless fragments of compressed aura, placing them on the ice spears Thorian had created. As the ice spears hit the bone golems, the low-frequency sound attack disturbed the connection between the golems' ethereal cores and the expressionless Death Knight. But it wasn't strong enough to cut this powerful connection. But then the compact aura fragments exploded onto the bone golems carried by the ice spears.
Heinz created armors of the Ash element and wrapped them around the bodies of Enrick's conjurations. He also stood right behind the physically powerful conjurations, assisting and coordinating with them. In contrast, the conjurations served as tanks, and his ashen tendrils worked as a supporting element of the fight. Creating a robust synchrony.
However, the last duo was nearly perfect in terms of battle efficiency and outcome. The combined efforts of the previous two pairs could not match the sheer amount of havoc that Axel and Sophia were causing. One wore a long, black dress that covered almost every part of her body, wielding a black sword that had manifested from the very darkness she embodied, laced with a layer of thick, red killing intent. Matching the same color of her eyes.
Axel, on the other hand, was the exact opposite, with blue hair, blue attire mixed with white stripes, and golden runes. Ocean blue eyes, with a profound golden symbol of his runic eyes on that iris. Radiating destructive blue lightnings mixed with white flashes. They not only moved together, but they also intertwined and complemented one another—both of their backs against each other, and exuding the exact opposite types of power.
However, their potent elements also somehow amplified one another. The destructive might of the lightning made the darkness grow deeper and more sinister. The all-encompassing darkness wielded by Sophia made the lightning glow even brighter in its midst. Their every move is perfectly in sync, as if they knew what their partner would do next, and they added something of their own with impeccable fluidity, requiring no words or gestures. Having absolute faith, an understanding of each other that went deeper than anything else.
Almost as if they had already been fighting together for eons, for countless lifetimes, for an eternity that never ended. It was almost like the spectacle that unfolded before the eyes of everyone in the ballroom. They were dancing together.
The only difference is that this time their dance moves produce destructive attacks, taking down one powerful enemy after another. Instead of the chandeliers of the ballroom, the four bright moons were above their heads, illuminating the world itself.
Instead of the tunes of music, only the deathly cries of the bone golems resounded on the battlefield. Instead of the countless other dance pairs surrounding the two of them, there were only enemies. There was a subtle but extremely genuine smile on their lips. Beheading different bone golems, then jumping into the sky towards each other.
As the purple moon shone brightly in the background, they embraced and swirled, propelling their momentum even further. This continued again and again and again. Their dance was beautiful, wreaking havoc across the battlefield that even the silent Death Knight could not help but look at with curiosity. A complex emotion in its eyes that it could not wholly understand. After all, it was already dead. Now a mere worthless puppet in the hands of a wretched high-lich that refused to let it embrace the peace of the end.
Right after, the six main fighters had taken down at least two or more bone golems each. A change occurred in all of them.
Except for Sophia, they all received a notification simultaneously -
[Requirements to ascend to the 2nd phase have been met. Initiate the breakthrough?]
Right after receiving this notification, Axel sent a message to everyone, asking for confirmation that they had also received a similar notification. They responded in affirmation.
Then he sent a message to only Jaden, 'Jaden, there is something you should know.'
'What is it?' asked the genius strategist, who did not like the serious tone of Axel Nomrad.
'...…..' revealed Axel word by word, sending a shiver down the spine of Jaden.
Jaden's face turned incomparably grim, 'You're kidding me??????'
Axel responded with a sigh, 'I have a trump card of my own that can put an end to the enemy for good. But I will need to leave this place right now and get it from the other side of the island.'
Axel added further in all seriousness, 'And I will need you to come up with something in the meantime, something to wipe out the whole enemy army at least once. And by then, I will be back with my trump card.'
'Don't worry. I will tell Sophia to coordinate with you as much as possible. But please be respectful towards her. Otherwise, I can't guarantee that she won't kill you.'
There was a long pause until Jaden responded in sarcasm, 'Fantastic, such encouraging words, exactly what I needed. Come up with a solution to eliminate all the bone golems, and then deal with what comes next? Are you fucking kidding me, Nomrad? Do you think I am a cosmic genie granting you three impossible wishes, you son of a bi***'
But there was no response from Axel Nomrad anymore; he had already disappeared, activating some hidden teleportation artifact that probably teleported him to another part of the island.
Then the frost-cold and chilling voice of the valkyrie reached his ears, making him flinch, 'Axel instructed me to coordinate with you and lead everyone in the battle, fighting as a single army. You're supposed to come up with a plan, it seems? How long will it take?'
Hearing the demanding and disdainful tone of the Valkyrie, a vein bulged on his forehead. How long will it take for him to devise a plan? This bitch, does she think it's some demand and supply chain or something?
He answered her honestly, 'I don't know if I can even come up with something like that, whatever Nomrad was asking.'
Then an extremely uncomfortable silence followed, as a cold reply came from Sophia, 'You'd better make up a useful plan, within the next 20 minutes. Otherwise, I will kill you. Because I despise worthless baggage.'
Jaden gritted his teeth in humiliation and rage. She was serious, and that was a genuine threat; she might actually carry it out. He replied as calmly as possible, controlling his emotions, 'Thank you for the motivation. I will try and come up with something.'
Sophia sneered, 'Good. Otherwise, after 20 minutes, you might never need any motivation for the rest of your life, ever again.'
With that, she cut off the link between the two. She ordered loudly, her voice echoing thunderously throughout the battlefield, calling them all by names, "Heinz Gil, Enrick Samartan, Thorian Blackvale, Jaden Redmar. Fall back and follow my command from now on."
