Chapter 172 - Preparation for Puppet Master Legacy
"But Princess, this could be an opportunity!"
A voice inside the room that was designated for the official work, yet with the furniture surrounding, was echoed with a voice, causing everyone to look in the direction of Mathili, who was seated with her hands clasped together.
The total people within the room were—Mialthara, Ashmira in her cat form seated on Kyle's lap, a small fairy on his head, Olea, and Aleriana.
So overall, the room was filled with individuals, especially women, except for the single man who seemed to be deep in thought, eyes closed as if processing the words of Aleriana, where she clearly depicted even the thought of them exploring the legacy.
"...I don't think you should interrupt, cotton candy," Mialthara stared, eyes amused, bloody gaze to hair like blood, with her fingers touching the hair of Mathili, clearly flinching her, as those words from Mialthara made the already surprised woman tremble even more.
To be exact, when Mathili entered this room after the others had gathered here, she saw a woman who was referred to as the Blood Demoness—someone whom she recognized in an instant, due to the fear she instilled within the other kingdoms' mortal groups, especially due to using them as blood furnaces or pills.
And for Mathili to get her head patted or touched by someone who had severed the hands of more than hundreds of mortals was so chilling, that she felt a sweat bead trickling down her forehead, seated while inwardly thinking why someone like the Blood Demoness was here within the room.
"I-I understand," Mathili's voice this time was lower than a whisper, shivering as a trembling body gave away the fear, while not noticing how Mialthara was clearly playing with her pink hair as if intrigued by its softness.
Now that Mathili was clearly suppressed, with her voice becoming lowered, head turned down with no interruption from her side, the conversation began.
"So, the reason you are not trying to go for expenditure is due to...?" Olea inquired, her voice looking towards the princess, trying to complete her sentence, given the reason for the princess to not be interested in going to explore the legacy of the Puppet Master.
"Because we will become the center of attention and a clear target for factions under the First Queen," Aleriana stated, having calmly thought how, in the case of Prince Orion—due to him being much more lenient and having a personality where he accepts his defeat if played against by the mind—knew he wasn't going to retaliate as violently as the members of the First Queen faction would.
They were too united and dangerous. Orion, on the other hand, was the type who took this battle as the player's stitches, where even if he lost his pawn, he would just play by the rules. But that wasn't the case for the members of the First.
Forget rules, most probably the ground of the legacy would become their burial ground if everyone tried to target them.
"Perfect,"
came a calm but composed voice of the man, reverting inside the room, causing everyone to look towards Kyle, who, seated, finally opened his eyes.
The crimson and red streaks fixed within his pupils seemed to hold amusement after hearing that the reason Aleriana was being so much hesitant was because of EXP Kyle may get there.
Becoming the center of attention in a world or a place filled with so many cultivators—strong and even those far more capable than he ever saw—will simply mean for him to get powers, bloodlines, and just everything like a farming game.
These things even made his approach firmer and his determination to go explore the legacy even more.
"What?" Aleriana narrowed her gaze, confused, observing Kyle, who slowly stood from his seat, holding the cat in his hand, confusedly swinging her.
As instead of accepting her words, he was much more peaceful about it, with the determination on his face clearly showing that her words had just increased his desire to explore the Puppet Master's legacy.
"Rest assured, Wife, I will be with you all," Kyle said as he shrugged his shoulders and gave an amused look to Aleriana, understanding that her fear was genuine, given going there would be similar to committing suicide—especially considering how so many members of Aleriana's opposition would be there.
"...."
"...."
Olea and Aleriana seemed completely silent, observing his words as they had already seen so many things until now to doubt his words or even his presence.
It seemed reassuring, as he was the one to put an end to the things in the Exorcism Sect and even deal a blow to place Orion by removing his support.
"Will I have to go too?" Mialthara stated, looking towards Kyle and the others, feeling that if it was really happening, then there was very minimal need for her to accompany them.
And given her affiliation with the neutral faction, her arrival there might simply make things more messed up.
"Of course. Who is going to take credit for every death?" Kyle gave an obvious look to Mialthara, raising his eyebrow as he stated.
Looking at me altogether, he thought how whoever he kills, they need to have the name of the killer being Blood Demoness attached to them.
Or else, he will be in quiet trouble.
"....Again?" Mialthara gave a blank look before observing as Kyle seemed to leave the room, making his way towards the door, draping the cat's body directly on his shoulder.
"Where are you going?" Aleriana was the one who inquired, looking as she was thinking of a way to utilize the situation in her favor.
Considering they do not possess that much firepower—even if the members of the Ghost Sect were to be included—things would become gruesome if they got targeted.
But again, somehow, she seemed to start believing in his strength. Definitely not to the limit where she would simply expect him to alone visit that place—especially not after seeing his weakness.
Yeah, Aleriana, at first glance, understood that Kyle was weak to long-distance attacks. He wasn't able to protect himself from a projectile shot at a distance, so her presence was important.
"Me?" Kyle, giving a wink to Aleriana as he exited the room, waved before in a calm voice gave information about his next location. "We need other teammates too. I am going to visit the Empress Dowager's Palace."
