Extra's Harem: Invincibility Starts with Marriage and lots of Children

Chapter 167 - Did Kyle have a pregnant wife?

"What happened? You seem lost in thought," Olea asked, seated within the carriage that was finally leaving the slum area and heading toward the capital's center—toward the northern palace where Princess Aleriana resided.

"...Do you think a sect called the Slum Sect ever existed before?" Kyle inquired, glancing at the pouch in his hand. He counted the hundred gold coins inside—coins that resembled taels from cultivation novels, though he preferred to call them coins for simplicity.

As he counted, his thoughts returned to the sect whose job offer had led him to become an escort for the carriages: the Slum Sect. A name that, as far as he could recall, had never been mentioned in the original story.

Perhaps it was just a low-tier sect, insignificant in the grand scheme—prompting him to ask Olea directly.

"No, it seems to have emerged recently," Olea replied, shaking her head. When she had first heard the name, it struck her as suspicious—possibly even a scam.

But seeing the sheer amount of gold they'd provided, it was clear the sect had substantial resources.

Still, she had never heard of it before.

"I thought so..." Kyle nodded, tying the pouch and handing it to Olea, who promptly stored it in her dimensional ring. He pondered the possibility that this sect was so irrelevant to the original plot that it hadn't been worth mentioning.

Yet the name—so casual and unforgettable—and the generous payment made him suspect it should have held greater significance in storyline.

But it did not.

Perhaps his very presence in this world had triggered a butterfly effect, leading to the sect's sudden rise.

In this world, a single bronze coin could buy a loaf of bread. A hundred bronze coins (also called taels) made one silver coin, and ten silver coins equaled one gold coin. That meant one gold coin was worth 1,000 bronze coins.

With just one gold coin, a person could buy food for several days, rent a decent room at an inn, or purchase basic tools or clothing. It was considered a small fortune for common folk.

And right now, Kyle had a hundred such gold coins—given to him by a child claiming to be from that unknown sect.

Either the sect was a scam—which seemed unlikely given the money involved—or somehow, Kyle's actions had inadvertently caused its emergence.

"Leave—thud!" The carriage lurched to a halt, jolting Kyle slightly before he steadied himself. A voice called out, loud and clear:

"Come out, Kyle Arcutus! How can you abandon a pregnant woman in your territory?!"

The shrill, womanly voice caused Kyle, still seated in the carriage, to flinch.

'!?!'

"Wh-who...?" Kyle muttered, slowly rising as he glanced at Olea. Her eyes twitched as if she'd already anticipated the situation—or at least the drama that was about to unfold.

"Hey, come on. Do you think I could actually do that?" Kyle asked, giving Olea a genuinely innocent look. Since arriving in this world, he'd only tried to sleep with one woman—let alone score with anyone else.

"Why? Are you infertile?" Olea muttered coldly, averting her gaze and folding her arms. Her words pierced Kyle like an arrow. Clearly, she cared—despite everything.

Frustrated and confused, he leapt from the carriage.

'...Hm, wait,' Olea thought as she watched him leave. 'My reaction was unnecessary. Maybe he considers me a wife, but I've never reciprocated those feelings. I shouldn't care who he's involved with. My duty is to act as his bodyguard—nothing more—until I find out the truth about my parents.'

'Yes, that's the reason.'

She told herself that she only reacted that way because Kyle held the secret to her parents' deaths. That was why it mattered if he got into trouble—especially with the princess.

'....' With that thought, she looked toward the gate, clenched her fist, and stepped out of the carriage. She turned in the direction of the voice—and Kyle.

She would stay by his side until she uncovered the truth.

Slap!

'!'

"Kyle?!" Olea saw a woman, tears in her eyes and hand on her stomach, slap Kyle across the face. He dodged, tilting his head and grabbing her wrist. But her pink eyes, cotton candy-like pink hair, and emotional outburst made her identity instantly clear.

"A woman from House Valen?" Olea recognized her by her distinct features. She stepped closer, her gaze falling to the woman's belly.

"Ugh, y-you coward! You left me all alone!" the woman cried. She struggled in Kyle's grip, acting fragile—playing the role of a betrayed damsel.

'The fuck...?' Kyle muttered under his breath. The pink hair left no doubt about who she really was.

But why had she suddenly appeared here—of all places?

'Wasn't House Valen supposed to get a new head in the coming years?' Kyle felt a wave of confusion as he stared at the woman in front of him. 'She's not just some random character. She's the sister of a supporting character who would eventually join the Roharians. That plot point happens much later—after the current Valen patriarch dies.'

'How is she here now?'

The timeline didn't add up. The main events hadn't even started yet.

Had his presence already altered the flow of the plot?

"Sob... waaah... you perverted man! My child... sniff..." Mathili suddenly burst into loud, dramatic sobs. Her narrowed pink eyes, now blurred with tears, turned toward Olea—the one person here capable of seeing through the illusion. As a cultivator, Olea could easily verify a pregnancy with a simple pulse of internal energy.

"Halt. Let me confirm whether you're trying to stage a scene," Olea said coldly, stepping forward. Just as she expected from Mathili, something felt off. A small crowd had already begun to gather—they were now in the dinner district of the capital. Lower noble houses and common citizens watched curiously, and the growing attention could spell trouble for Kyle's reputation.

Olea reached out and placed her hand gently on the woman's belly.

'!'

'What?' Her eyes widened. Mathili looked surprised—perhaps genuinely, or perhaps she was just playing her part—but Olea didn't let that distract her. She focused again, trying to send her Qi inward to detect a fetus.

But something was wrong.

The Qi she injected vanished instantly—as if it were being neutralized.

'Why isn't her body accepting Qi?' she thought, troubled. 'It's like fire meeting water... It just disappears.'

No matter how many times she tried, the result remained the same.

Then, right on cue:

"Kyle Arcutus! Is she another one of your women?! Sob... You ruined my life!" Mathili wailed, her voice cracking with theatrical grief. Internally, she smirked as she noticed the attention they were attracting.

Her plan was working perfectly.

Using this stunt to blackmail Kyle, she hoped to gain proximity to Princess Aleriana, observe her, determine if she was fit for her house's support, and then join her side if necessary.

After the destruction of the Exorcism Sect, most of the nobility supporting Prince Orion had shifted. That alone gave her more than enough reason to believe in the princess's potential.

The role of the abandoned, heartbroken, and pregnant woman fit her goals perfectly.

"H-Hey, stop! Can't we just talk this out somewhere else?" Kyle said, trying to defuse the situation. His eyes scanned the crowd that had now fully encircled them, whispers and judgmental murmurs rippling through the street.

This wasn't just a random drama—it was a staged public spectacle. And Kyle knew exactly what it meant.

She was here to ruin his image.

With his recent dealings involving nobility supporting Prince Orion and his status as Princess Aleriana's husband, any scandal could shift public opinion and stir unwanted attention.

Even worse, it might complicate things politically for Aleriana herself.

"Waaah, no! You just want to silence me—!" Mathili shrieked louder, arms flailing.

'Shit!' Kyle thought as her voice rose again, threatening to escalate things. He moved on instinct.

In one swift step, he reached out—his hand covering her mouth and clamping down with just enough pressure to make her eyes go wide.

"Mmmpphhhh—!?"
