Chapter 157: See You Again
The tone of the Princess became increasingly gentle, no longer discussing official matters, she asked casually: "By the way, did the Alchemy School send you an invitation? Hehe, with your performance, it's impossible you weren't invited. I should be asking which branch you chose."
"Well, Mr. Richard has already taken care of it for me, it's the 'Magic Potion Branch' of the Alchemy School."
Although Aiven felt that the Alchemy School, which focused heavily on academic research, wasn't exactly what he hoped for, after learning from Delis about the differences between School Wizards and Wild Mages, he naturally couldn't be foolish enough to refuse the invitation from the Alchemy School.
Moreover, even though the Princess is not a wizard, as the Crown Prince, she is well-versed in the secrets of the academy and even the entire Kingdom. Aiven naturally wouldn't hide this from her.
"In private, Principal Princeton is quite optimistic about you; it's a pity you didn't choose his 'Mechanical Branch'. Otherwise, you might have even become a disciple of this Great Wizard." Liweina sighed slightly at Aiven's choice.
"A person should have self-awareness. Though I have achieved a bit, I am not a genius, so I can only disappoint the Principal's kindness."
In fact, when Richard sent the invitation from the school, he also hinted this to Aiven.
But Aiven was self-aware, although he considered himself talented, he wasn't an all-rounder. Most of the Principal's impression of him came from his achievements in pharmacy and medicine.
But now, the knight training, Magic Potion studies, and the ongoing research on biological transformation technology had already consumed much of his energy; he really didn't have more time to start from scratch learning a whole new and unfamiliar subject.
If he did become a disciple of Principal Princeton, it was almost certain that his future life would likely be spent in various alchemy workshops. Just thinking about being away from the beautiful and mysterious sea made him shiver; it was better to politely decline.
Liweina did not say much about Aiven's choice.
Now, Aiven was merely a newcomer in the Extraordinary World, but who could predict the future? After all, Principal Princeton himself did not have a teacher at the Upper-Rank Wizard level in the past.
In this world where miracles could happen at any time, in this era full of opportunities of the Great Navigation, Aiven's choice might indeed be more correct.
After a few more casual conversations in the capacity of a lord and close Guardian Knight, the Princess finally said:
"Your performance in the tumult at New Inn Port was excellent. Today's appointment breaks several Naval traditions and records! Return to the sea, as your liege, I am very much looking forward to your future growth!"
Although Aiven felt that when the Ghost Ship activated the ship's figurehead and unleashed its full firepower, he and all the Navy were merely bystanders; even powerful battleships couldn't influence the situation.
He simply "tagged along" all the way, occasionally cheering for the Principal with a few "666s," contributing very little. However, at this moment he could only follow Liweina's lead and bow again, saying:
"Thank you for valuing me, Your Highness!"
After a couple more sentences fully demonstrating the lord's concern, the Princess then allowed Aiven to leave directly.
"Your Highness, Aiven's Guardian Knight file has been submitted to the Royal Family, right? Aren't you planning to keep him by your side?" Linda asked somewhat puzzled beside her.
"I am not in need of a competent bodyguard. I have already said before, my expectations for him go far beyond this. The stage is set for him, let's wait and see how far he can go."
Even though resolving that appointment took quite an effort, even for her as the Crown Prince, she felt it was nothing compared to Aiven as a person.
Then, Liweina played with a letter that Aiven left when he departed, or rather, a whistleblower's letter, she said playfully.
"And also a Guardian Knight daring enough to give his liege work to do, heh, he's quite 'special' indeed!"
The letter contained various crimes of the Blood Hand Gang collected by Aiven from various channels. The first was "live human sacrifices," something the Church and major kingdoms feared most, followed by hundreds of other crimes big and small.
"Hehe, without ever-present shadows, how to highlight the greatness of the divine?"
Liweina had been in New Inn Port for too short a time and was carrying an important mission, so she never noticed such a monstrous evil entity lurking within the city.
This was a perfect chance to conduct a large-scale purge during the city's reconstruction; otherwise, people might think that the scarcely present Crown Prince during the tumult didn't exist!
...
The decision to report was made by Aiven after thorough consideration. The 'Killing Ghost' incident had already passed, and the long-dormant Blood Hand Gang was starting to become active again.
Aiven knew that as long as the Blood Hand Gang held the "Immaculate Holy Blood," a potion that could to some extent restore youth, there would always be a continuous stream of nobility willing to cooperate and provide shelter.
Reporting the Blood Hand Gang directly to the Princess, bypassing the New Inn Port's high authority. A crackdown from the Kingdom's high level should restrain them somewhat, minimizing tragedies as much as possible.
'Did you think I would go head-to-head with a monstrous entity and its chain of noble backers by myself?'
