Chapter 127: Killing Ghost in Action
The knight's fist abruptly halted in mid-air, caught by another "iron hand" that extended from the side.
"Cap... Captain!"
Seeing who stopped him, the Iron Wall Knight, in a rage, felt as if a cold bucket of water was poured over his head, instantly calming him down, and he stammered out just two words.
Unnoticed by all, a young knight dressed in the same heavy armor, yet as agile as a raccoon, had already stepped behind the crowd and just then intercepted the powerful punch.
"As punishment, return and copy the Knight's Oath a hundred times! Rejoin your squad!"
After saying this, the youthful knight captain, whose face was visible as he wasn't wearing a helmet, paid no more attention to his subordinate and, turning to Aiven, nodded slightly and said:
"I apologize on behalf of my team member! I also thank you for your mercy. With your mastery in swordsmanship, no one in our knight squad is your match anymore.
If I'm not mistaken, that should be at least Master-level Swordsmanship paired with powerful spiritual power that allows the use of the 'Eye Sword,' right?"
Aiven gently patted the girl beside him, comforted her softly as she returned behind him, and then said lightly to the knight captain, "Ah, something like that."
"I am Ambrose of the Iron Wall Knight Order, under the aegis of the Goddess. How should I address you, sir?"
Although he realized the person in front of him, with his Master-level Swordsmanship, was unlikely to be his target.
Yet thinking of his mission, Ambrose still wanted to probe a bit, to see if this powerhouse could be entrusted as an ally during the anticipated turbulent times in New Inn Port.
Unfortunately, Aiven did not want to expose himself to the Church or the hawkers at the mixed Crow Market at this place and time.
"Me? Just an ordinary Extraordinary shopping at the Crow Market."
Saying this, he calmly fished a medal from his pocket and pinned it to his left chest.
Similar in shape to the emblem of the Iron Wall Knight Order, yet significantly more exquisite and beautiful. More astonishingly, in the eyes of the knight captain, this medal consistently emitted an intertwining blue and gold Extraordinary Spiritual Light.
That... was actually the blessing of the Goddess!!!
Thud!
Staring down, right fist clenching and striking his chest, Ambrose's probing thoughts flew away in an instant: "Honored sir, may the Goddess be with you!!!"
Though Ambrose found it hard to believe, the glorious spiritual light warning him that a blessed one of the Goddess stood vividly before him kept reminding him.
The cloistered ascetic-like meditation made this Iron Wall Knight unaware that this medal had been issued not long ago by the New Inn Cathedral where he belonged.
Of course, over the long span of time, medals blessed by the Goddess were far more than just this one, even if investigated later, it would be hard to pin it on Aiven.
However, after today, how could the Church do anything even if suspicious? Aiven was no longer what he used to be, able to bear this slight risk.
"Knight, may we leave now?" The Iron Cross Medal proved unexpectedly useful, Aiven's expression unchanged, he asked plainly.
"No problem, you're free to go!"
Thus, under the varied gazes of the Knight Order, priests, the inspected crowd, and shackled Black Wizards, Aiven led the still somewhat confused Angie along the temporary path opened for him.
Using the privileges bestowed by the Iron Cross Medal to smoothly pass, Aiven showed no sign of joy.
For the fact that even the Crow Market was drawn into widespread scrutiny made Aiven suddenly realize that something unknown had quietly occurred in New Inn Port.
Recalling last night, that ferociously brutal, oddly behaving, and even more bizarrely disappearing Hammer Youth, Aiven frowned, could it be related to that fellow?
"Angie, I'll take you back to Cooper Manor now. For the coming period, stay there with your family tutor, reading and studying. I'll come for you later. Don't wander off unnecessarily, got it?"
"Mm, Angie understands." Though she didn't comprehend why her teacher, who was so imposing earlier, suddenly became serious. Angie still obediently nodded, complying with Aiven's arrangement.
Meanwhile, the chaos wrought by the "Killing Ghost" began spreading incessantly throughout New Inn Port beneath the oblivion of ordinary citizens.
On the other side of the city, at the Tulip Art Academy.
"Hee hee hee, Margaret, are you still waiting for your Prince Charming to go for a walk?"
"What's so great about men, just come have fun with us. Especially the boys from the Art Academy, they're all flirts, you can't tie them down."
By the snow-white marble fountain, two girls in lady's dresses were chirping at another girl seated on the steps.
Margaret dressed in a light yellow outfit, possessed golden hair and blue eyes, her rosy lips curled up in a smile exuding a warm sunshine vibe.
Even sitting on the stone steps by the fountain exudes an air of elegance and poise, undoubtedly a beautiful lady.
"You go ahead, Ted doesn't like others being late. And Ted is a top student in the Faculty of Law, quite different from those immature boys."
Faced with her peers' invitations, Margaret gently yet firmly declined them, insisting on waiting for her, well, new friend here.
"My gosh, Margaret, you've only known each other for a day! Just one day! What on earth does that guy have that enthralls the proud Miss Margaret so?"
Her companions couldn't believe it; Tulip Art Academy students weren't like the naive girls who had never seen the world, most came from wealthy families, capable of affording exorbitant art tuition fees.
Especially this Miss Margaret was among the cream of the crop even within the academy.
Whether in looks, family background, or artistic talent, this genius girl admired by many had succumbed in just one day to a man of unknown origin. Even if he's exceedingly outstanding, the pace was unbelievably fast!
"Don't say that, Jessy! Ted is really nice. Ah, won't bother with you anymore, he's here." Hearing her companions belittle her "friend," Margaret slightly irritably retorted.
Suddenly, spotting a young man approaching in the distance, she cried out in delight. Paying no heed to her calling companions behind her, she ran ahead and softly chatted with him, then affectionately wrapped her arm through his as they walked away.
"Did you see that, Jessy?" A girl stared fixated at the gradually blurring figure and asked her companion.
"I saw, I saw. Really, really handsome!! If such a dashing man came for me, I'd be willing to die the next day!"
The two girls who just advised Margaret changed their attitudes instantly by 180 degrees, alas now they could only watch as the pair of "perfect couple" figures faded into the distance.
