Exploring Technology in a Wizard World

Chapter 863: Instant Kill Amid Silence

In the end, Cheka's expression turned somewhat ferocious as he raised his hand, ready to unleash a killing blow on the Witch Demon Elder.

The Witch Demon Elder on the ground had one hand hidden behind him, slowly gathering energy—during this time, he had recovered some of his injuries and was preparing for a final counterattack.

But suddenly, the energy gathered in the Witch Demon Elder's hand dissipated, and a playful expression appeared on his face as he looked at Cheka in the air.

"Boy, did you know? In a way, I should thank you. If it weren't for your constant talking, I might have really died. But now, hehe..."

"Hmm?" Cheka, hearing the Witch Demon Elder's words, was initially taken aback. Then, suddenly sensing something, he quickly turned his head to look behind him, only to see a man in a black robe floating there, silently watching him.

Cheka tensed up entirely, looking at the man and subconsciously asked out loud: "You are..."

But before he finished speaking, his whole body began to tremble as if he were shaking, and that's when he saw the man in front of him wore a strange metal glove, pointing at him. From the fingertips of the glove, powerful and penetrating energy streams burst forth, quickly passing through his body.

Cheka felt his entire life force draining rapidly.

"No, wait..." Cheka voiced, somewhat unwilling.

But the man in front of him did not give him any chance, seemingly highly alert to him. In the next moment, he directly raised the metal glove. Then Cheka saw the glove burst suddenly, turning into hundreds of fragments flying toward him, enveloping his entire body, releasing a dazzling golden light.

Within the golden light, Cheka felt all his life power being emptied, as endless darkness came to engulf him.

"Crash!"

The fragments of the glove parted and fell towards the ground, and Cheka's body also plummeted from high in the air to the ground, completely lifeless.

The one who killed Cheka never said a word from start to finish, nor did he give Cheka any chance to fight back. It was almost like, with one action, he used his strongest move.

In the last second before his death, Cheka suddenly somewhat understood why the Witch Demon Elder said he talked too much.

Unfortunately, he seemed to have no chance to correct it.

"Bang!"

Cheka's body fell from the sky, crashing down and creating a pit. The two remaining wings on his back snapped with a "crack," and the few charred feathers left drifted out like dandelion seeds, then dissolved into light in mid-air.

One feather looked a bit larger, seemingly heavier. It just drifted a few meters before getting caught in a patch of dry grass, not turning into light but disappearing nonetheless.

...

"Snap!"

A soft sound, and Richard fell from the air, planting his feet on the ground. He reversed his hand to pull out the Energy Storage Short Wand and held it, while supplementing the Free Energy Elements' consumption, and looking around.

After glancing around, Richard's gaze fell on the Witch Demon Elder, and he asked, "Where's Pandora?"

The Witch Demon Elder raised his eyelids, slightly lifting one hand, pointing toward a little house in the distance, and said, "In the house, don't worry, not a scratch."

Richard nodded, then seriously looked at the Witch Demon Elder, crouching down to help him up before again asking, "And you, how are you?"

"Cough cough!"

The Witch Demon Elder coughed, spitting out a mouthful of blood, looking quite terrible.

But the Witch Demon Elder shook his head, replied, "Don't worry, I'm fine."

"By the way, there's something about today that I need to clarify with you," the Witch Demon Elder said, "The person you just killed was investigating the mine, likely a member of that so-called Truth Society. In fact, I discovered him last night when he infiltrated the mine. However, I didn't tell you.

Because I thought my strength was enough to take him down. By then, I could control him, extract some information, and hand it over to you. At least, it would prove that this old guy is somewhat useful.

But I didn't expect his strength to far exceed my imagination. Before, when you told me how formidable the Truth Society was, I thought you were exaggerating. Now it seems, not only were you not exaggerating, you were being too cautious. Haha, to think they could transform into an angel to fight me. It's really unimaginable how strong such an organization truly is.

But fortunately, you arrived in time and eliminated him, preventing too much trouble. This reduced my guilt a little.

I realize my actions violated our agreement, how to deal with it is entirely up to you. After all, this old guy is really not much use; maybe I shouldn't have awakened from the start—this era doesn't really suit me."

Finished speaking, the Witch Demon Elder, with a somewhat somber look, staggered away towards the distance, his back slightly hunched.

"Tap tap tap..."

A series of footsteps sounded, and Pandora suddenly ran out from the distant house, running quickly to ask the Witch Demon Elder, "Hey, are you okay?"

Hmm?

The Witch Demon Elder stopped, turned to look at Pandora, slightly surprised, wanting to say something but didn't.

Pandora voiced, as if explaining, "Well, I actually wanted to help you just now. However, you wouldn't let me help you at first, saying you hadn't displayed your true strength. During the fight, you didn't seem weak either, always going back and forth with that person. So I just watched, besides passing on information with the Crystal Ball, without helping. Are you... really okay?"

"I..." The Witch Demon Elder, looking at Pandora, opened his mouth, his back straightening a bit, and said, "Of course I'm fine, I... cough cough cough!"

Before he finished speaking, he started coughing with a piercing intensity.

Amidst the coughing, the Witch Demon Elder turned and walked towards the distance, waving his hand loudly, "Cough cough... I'm really fine! I just need... cough cough... to rest, yes, I need to rest."

While speaking, the Witch Demon Elder walked further and further away.

Suddenly, a Golden Yellow Dog appeared out of nowhere, jumping and bounding, following the Witch Demon Elder as he disappeared into the darkness.

Pandora quietly watched the Witch Demon Elder vanish, unusually without a sharp word for him.

Once the Witch Demon Elder was entirely out of sight, Pandora turned to Richard, standing to one side, and asked with some concern, "Is he really going to be okay?"

"He'll be fine," Richard replied.

Pandora nodded, then asked, "And will the mine be okay? The intruder is dead, but there may still be trouble, right?"

"Don't worry, I had anticipated this before and made plenty of preparations, so it will be okay."

"Oh," Pandora responded, breathing a sigh of relief, like a little adult," then I'm relieved."

Richard smiled.

The night suddenly became quiet.
