Chapter 846: Inspector
Canon blinked in study, quickly reading on, and read for a long time.
After a while, Canon finished reading, held the document in his hand, his expression somewhat contemplative, as if pondering how to handle it.
At that moment, the large white rabbit on the table seemed to sense something, alertly lifted its head, and looked towards the tightly closed door of the room. Then the large white rabbit made a soft "pop" sound, its long and powerful hind legs thrust forcefully on the table. Its entire body leapt, like a bird tracing an arc in the air, gracefully into the dark corner of the room, hiding itself.
"Hmm?" Canon watched the rabbit's actions, first stunned, then instinctively placed the document in his hand on the table, looking towards the door.
The next moment, without a knock, the room door directly opened, and someone walked in.
Canon looked at the newcomer, initially planning to get angry, but upon seeing clearly, he stood up with a "swish". He bent slightly, and respectfully greeted, "Supervisor Long Mei'er!"
The person who entered was Supervisor Long Mei'er, the most striking aspect being the person's incredibly luxurious golden robe. Of course, there was also his unfathomably strong presence, even just a hint of it was enough to inspire awe.
Upon hearing Canon's greeting, Long Mei'er nodded, acknowledged it, but didn't say anything further, only continually surveying Canon's room.
Canon, somewhat puzzled, held back for a while, finally asking, "Supervisor Long Mei'er, is there something you need?" From what he knew, Supervisor Long Mei'er had been busy at the distant Pompeii City branch recently, without major issues, wouldn't come here.
Long Mei'er, after hearing Canon's words, finally spoke, and announced shocking news upon opening his mouth, "An Inspector sent from headquarters might be coming to you."
"An Inspector?!" Canon's eyes slightly widened, wanting to shout, but quickly closed his mouth widely open, without losing composure. Then, he said with effort in a calm tone, "An Inspector, didn't one just come by recently, why… again?"
"This is what puzzles me, the frequency of Inspectors coming here is a bit high," Long Mei'er said, after a while, softly, "Maybe, it's the intention of the 'Gray Mist' supervisor. After all, it's currently the 'Gray Mist' supervisor on duty, not the 'Fen Feng' supervisor."
Canon opened his mouth but didn't follow up. Because this topic was not something he could participate in, even if he carried a Silver Ring and had the status of a Steward, he still had no qualification.
Canon's eyes involuntarily shifted quickly, his thoughts drifting.
Within the internal structure of the Truth Society, what was called the Inspector was a rather special existence.
Generally speaking, according to the Truth Society's organizational framework, the lowest level are those with Black Iron Rings, counted as lower-level members.
Among these people, the more standout and capable ones would become Group Leaders.
The more standout and capable Group Leaders would become Commanders.
Further up from Commanders, is his current rank, a Steward with a Silver Ring.
Stewards have the authority to oversee a branch office, managing a relatively independent area, counted as mid-level personnel.
Further up, are those with Golden Rings, like Rommel, referred to as Supervisors, regarded as high-level in the organization. They are responsible for managing an entire large area, are the main components of the organization, and in dangerous situations, even possess the ability to communicate with Gods and summon Divine Punishment, though these are rare circumstances.
And Golden Rings, still have a certain distance from the top tier.
Located at the top tier, are those with Seven-Colored Rings, the Chiefs.
Such existences, are extremely few in number, they collectively manage the operation of the entire organization, most of the time not directly appearing. To ensure the concentration of power, amongst them, they implement a system of rotating leadership. In one cycle, there is only one Chief with the Seven-Colored Ring appointed as the highest authority, managing the entire organization's personnel. The rest of the Seven-Colored Ring Chiefs assist the highest authority in management.
When issues requiring decision-making arise, all the Seven-Colored Ring Chiefs will discuss and debate, with the highest authority having the final decision-making power.
Of course, the final decision power cannot be abused, if more than half of the Seven-Colored Ring Chiefs find it incomprehensible, they can communicate with the Silver Priest. The Silver Priest is the servant of the Spirit, conveying the current situation to the Spirit, and at this time, the Spirit will deliver divine decrees to resolve disputes.
This is the complete framework of the Truth Society, from the bottom up.
The reason Inspectors are said to be special, is because they are not within this framework.
Inspectors wear Blue Rings, their strength not necessarily very strong, at most mastering some rare Spells. Their status is entirely below that of the Supervisors with Golden Rings, indeed even some Stewards with Silver Rings look down on them, but they report directly to the highest authority.
They do not belong to the enforcement forces of the organization, but to the supervisory forces. What they do is check whether members within the organization harbor disloyalty, verify if the reports provided by a certain branch are true, ensure whether a certain area is stable, or if there are any undiscovered hidden dangers.
In a certain sense, the existence of the Inspector is very important for such a large organization like the Truth Society.
The only problem is, sometimes Inspectors "find faults."
This is related to the Seven-Colored Ring's rotating governance system.
Because each Seven-Colored Ring takes turns in leadership, each one would have their own direct lineage and confidants, even if none, they would have those they favor. They would provide some support within their capacity, helping them complete assigned tasks, implement desired plans.
And when the next cycle comes, and a new Seven-Colored Ring becomes the highest authority, there will inevitably be different tasks and plans to prepare for implementation.
They, of course, need to make some adjustments.
They won't deliberately suppress members, because this would provoke the wrath of Spirits—Spirits do not allow the existence of selfishness, retaliation, etc. But this does not affect the new highest authority dispatching Inspectors to check certain branches or areas more frequently. Once issues are found, appropriate criticism will ensue, modifications will be ordered, and then the support of resources will be reduced.
After numerous "technical adjustments," significant macro-level changes will gradually take place within the entire organization, achieving the individual goals of different Seven-Colored Rings.
For these, Spirits have no opinions, after all, everyone makes mistakes and needs to be punished.
The question is, who doesn't make mistakes?
No matter who, as long as they are inspected enough times by an Inspector, eventually problems will arise, which is why no one likes Inspectors.
And now, an Inspector is coming.
Thinking of these things, Steward Canon's expression kept changing.
