Exploring Technology in a Wizard World

Chapter 799: Hard-Boiled Combat

Originally, after drinking more than a dozen potions, Bobbobovic had reached the level of a Third-level Wizard Middle Stage. Now, after drinking the green potion, he had improved again, reaching the Third-level High-rank Wizard.

But it wasn't over yet; the enhancement continued.

The next moment, he reached the peak of the Third-level Wizard and was getting closer to a Level 4 Wizard.

At this point, Joseph's expression changed slightly, surprised at how deeply Bobbobovic could conceal his strength.

Richard also raised an eyebrow. He remembered that when Bobbobovic had discussed combat techniques with him earlier, at most, he only used potions to advance to the level of a Third-level High-rank Wizard. But this was even higher now. Clearly, his previous suspicions were correct: Bobbobovic had never shown his full strength before.

Then, what is Bobbobovic's true level of strength? Could he possibly reach a Level 4 Wizard?

If he truly could, that would be a qualitative difference.

However… Bobbobovic ultimately did not break through to a Level 4 Wizard, stopping just a hair's breadth away from it.

Evidently, this was already sufficient to handle the current situation.

When the enhancement concluded, Bobbobovic squinted, staring at the Evolved Spider.

The pale golden Evolved Spider sensed danger and did not attack rashly. It lowered its body, its mandibles rubbing together, producing a hissing sound.

"Isn't it a bit late to cry now?" Bobbobovic said, no longer exhibiting his previous lazy, carefree demeanor, but seriously looking at the Evolved Spider and speaking up.

With that, his body suddenly leaped towards the Evolved Spider.

The spider retreated hastily, a green spider web shooting rapidly from its belly towards Bobbobovic.

For reasons unknown, whether due to carelessness or something else, Bobbobovic could not change direction freely in the air, paused in his action, and was directly ensnared by the web, landing heavily on the ground with a "bang."

The Evolved Spider paused, not expecting things to be this simple, but its limited cognitive capacity couldn't perceive any intrigue, quickly approaching the ensnared Bobbobovic.

The next moment, there was a loud explosion as the ground beneath the Evolved Spider suddenly burst open, launching the Evolved Spider high into the air, creating a massive gaping wound in its abdomen, with foul, acidic blood gushing out.

The Bobbobovic within the web vanished with a "pop," and the real Bobbobovic appeared behind the Evolved Spider. Holding a short wand with a solemn expression, he rapidly cast spells at the Evolved Spider, launching a relentless barrage.

After continuous spells struck its body, the Evolved Spider finally realized something and quickly turned, charging at Bobbobovic to engage in a desperate battle, while Bobbobovic remained undaunted, continuing his spell assault.

In the subsequent fight, the Evolved Spider struggled continually, but ultimately succumbed to Bobbobovic's torrent of magic.

"Bang!"

The Evolved Spider collapsed to the ground, motionless.

"Phew—"

Bobbobovic exhaled deeply, his body swaying slightly before regaining his footing, clearly indicating that defeating the Evolved Spider was no easy task for him.

The primary reason was that the Evolved Spider had a strong resistance to spells, severely reducing the power of ordinary low-level magic, forcing him to elevate close to a Level 4 Wizard's level, using a barrage of high-level spells to defeat the Evolved Spider.

"Actually, choosing to engage in close combat and using more physical attacks would have been easier," Joseph remarked, looking at Bobbobovic.

Hearing this, Bobbobovic shrugged. How could he not know this rationale? However, being a conventional wizard, unlike the combat enthusiasts, he was not adept at close combat. Joseph's suggestion was only theoretically feasible, but practically impractical for him.

"If there's a next time, maybe I'll give it a try," Bobbobovic responded weakly, feeling his entire body soft due to the cost of using potions to enhance his body.

Just as Bobbobovic finished speaking, from the darkness beside him, a stench wafted through, accompanied by a hissing sound as a second Evolved Spider emerged onto the scene.

The Evolved Spider's big nostril-like eyes twitched slightly for a moment, immediately locking onto Bobbobovic, pouncing over with no courtesy.

Bobbobovic's eyes widened, cursing his luck, just as he was contemplating what to do, Joseph made his move.

This time, instead of using spells like "Fire Storm," Joseph knew that such magic would be ineffective against the Evolved Spider.

So, his choice was to throw himself at the Evolved Spider, landing with a "thud" and blocking its path.

The newly arrived Evolved Spider was momentarily taken aback upon seeing Joseph, puzzled as to why this small human dared to stop it. Yet it did not hesitate, striking at Joseph with its long legs and simultaneously spraying corrosive acid from its mouth.

Joseph reacted swiftly, turned to evade the Evolved Spider's attack, then let out a low shout, and his skin petrified into a reef-like gray, landing a heavy punch on the Evolved Spider.

It was at this point that Bobbobovic and Richard realized why Joseph had previously suggested using close combat to deal with the Evolved Spider. Because he genuinely intended to, and did approach it that way.

Joseph's usual demeanor aligned with that of an efficient Truth Society member, much like a shrewd businessman or a courteous gentleman, handling various matters orderly.

Such a person gives the impression of being adept at indirectly and gently resolving issues, employing long-range spells like orthodox wizards to eliminate enemies.

However, Joseph's combat style at this moment was more akin to a gladiator, a fighter, embracing a hard-hitting style. Engaging in close combat with the Evolved Spider, delivering blow after blow, causing it to screech continuously.

Despite the Evolved Spider's furious counterattacks, Joseph at times dodged, other times directly withstanding with petrified skin, engaging in a battle of attrition, enduring injuries to inflict damage in return.

A minute passed, followed by a second, and a third...

Joseph accumulated several wounds, while the Evolved Spider had two long legs twisted off, with most of its body shattered, suffering severe wounds.

The Evolved Spider became fearful, thrusting its remaining legs at Joseph, then turning to flee.

Joseph scoffed coldly, his eyes blazing as he pursued. Grabbing the Evolved Spider's battered body, he yanked with all his might, tearing half its body apart with a "snap," leaving the remaining half to collapse and writhe on the ground.

Joseph gave it no chance, his iron fists enveloped in purple energy descending rapidly, hitting repetitively, driving the Evolved Spider into the ground, pummeling it to death completely.

In this manner, Joseph, with the level of a Third-level Wizard Middle Stage, brutally killed the Evolved Spider in an almost berserk fashion.
