Exploring Technology in a Wizard World

Chapter 766: Promises of the Future

"Are you sure?" Richard looked at Sande and asked after hearing his words, "If I ask you to kill someone, can you really do it?"

"Have I killed too few?" Sande glanced over the corpses surrounding them and said with contempt, "Although I haven't killed as many as you have here, when it really comes to killing, I no longer have any psychological barriers."

"I'm not talking about them."

"Who then? Women?" Sande guessed, then laughed, "This place isn't lacking in women, right?"

"What if it's not a witch, but an ordinary woman with no Extraordinary Power?" Richard asked.

Sande was taken aback and pursed his lips, "I can. If she has offended you, and she is indeed evil, then I can still kill her for you."

"What if the person is a pregnant woman? She has a husband who loves her, and there's a child about to be born in her womb. If I ask you to kill her whole family, would you do it?" Richard asked.

Sande's expression froze instantly, his facial muscles contorted as he wanted to say yes, but for some reason, he couldn't utter the words. Sweat seeped out as he stared at Richard and gritted his teeth, "You... don't force me."

"Heh." Richard suddenly laughed, "It's not me who's forcing you; you're forcing yourself. You see, you do have principles; you're just not aware of it yet. Don't worry, I won't make you do such things; it's a waste. As I said, I will have you do things that are more difficult, but they will align with your principles, and I hope you can grow quickly."

Sande fell silent, and after a long while, he looked up at Richard, staring into his eyes, "I want to know if it were you, would you kill the pregnant woman you just hypothesized about?"

"Of course." Richard replied, his expression indifferent as if it was no psychological burden at all.

Sande shivered, suddenly feeling that Richard before him was even more frightening than the Truth Society.

"Why?" Sande asked.

"Because the pregnant woman I hypothesized could have the surname Tan, names like Peipei, Beibei, and so on," Richard said softly.

"Beibei Tan?" Sande was stunned, not understanding why a strange name and surname could be a reason to kill someone.

"Alright." Richard didn't want to dwell on a topic of no significance any longer. Looking at Sande, he said, "Let's just consider the deal done. I will help you kill the people at the Truth Society's stronghold, and you will help me verify the identity of your teacher."

"I have one condition," Sande suddenly said.

"What?" Richard asked.

"I want to go with you to the stronghold to kill people."

"Reason." Richard asked.

"First, I detest the people from the Truth Society. Since I won't provoke them anymore, let me take this last revenge. Second..." Sande looked at Richard fearlessly and said, "Second, I don't trust you, so I must see with my own eyes that you do this deed."

Richard pondered for a moment but did not refuse, nodding, "Alright, I can agree to your request. However, before we go, there's a small problem that needs resolving urgently."

"What problem?"

"Can you even walk?" Richard looked at Sande, asking quite seriously.

Sande's expression stiffened instantly, realizing the crux of the issue.

He was seriously injured now, having lost most of his combat power. Not to mention walking, he couldn't even stand up. If he indeed went with Richard, he would undoubtedly be a massive liability.

After understanding this, Sande did not give up easily. "I indeed can't walk at the moment, but given enough blood, I can recover quickly. Then I would be able to act with you and even lend you a hand."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive." Sande said, turning his head to look at the surrounding corpses, his Adam's apple twitching. Truth be told, he was very averse to drinking human blood; he felt it was like cannibalism, even without any adverse physical reactions, he found it utterly repulsive in his heart.

But when it came to the people from the Truth Society, he didn't feel any aversion at all.

They were his enemies, the murderers who killed Sofia. He wished he could drink their blood every day!

Struggling to move, Sande was about to crawl towards the nearest corpse when Richard stopped him.

"What are you doing?" Sande looked at Richard and asked.

Richard reached into his chest and took out a flat liquor flask, tossing it to Sande, "Try this."

"What is this?" Sande caught it and opened the flask, expecting alcohol or some potion, but smelled a faint scent of blood.

Yet it wasn't blood; compared to blood, the liquid inside had less of an iron taste and a bit more sweetness.

"What's this?" Sande didn't rashly drink it, looking at Richard with caution.

"This is a special drink I prepared for you. Just try it, and you'll know. Don't worry, I didn't poison it." Richard said.

Sande still didn't completely let his guard down, but after careful consideration, if Richard really wanted to harm him, he wouldn't need to go through all this trouble. Eventually, Sande bravely took a small sip from the flask.

"Gulp!"

As the liquid flowed down his throat, Sande's eyes widened in shock as his body eagerly absorbed it, and his wounds began to heal rapidly.

Compared to regular blood, this liquid was more than ten times as potent!

Astonishing!

Sande gripped the flask tightly, looking at Richard somewhat agitatedly, "What... what on earth did you give me!"

Seeing Sande's reaction, Richard's eyebrows moved slightly, and he said softly, "It seems the effect is excellent. Then I haven't guessed wrong. A being like you, who drinks blood, doesn't need all components of blood, only those your body can no longer synthesize.

For example, hemoglobin, like globulin, a bit like porphyria but not quite. In short, you just need to replenish specific ingredients, which will not only avoid waste but also enhance the effect."

Sande frowned, understanding very little of what Richard said, "So you mean, I can live without drinking blood?"

"Of course." Richard replied, "Your body is indeed a bit special now, but it doesn't mean you must drink blood. If you're interested, you can research to find out which blood components you need and see if you can extract them separately to suit your body."

Sande nodded, deep in thought.

"Alright then," Richard said, "Drink up the drink I've prepared for you. Recover quickly; we have things to do."

"Alright." Sande acknowledged and stopped hesitating, drinking the light red drink from the flask openly.

"Gulp, gulp..."
