Chapter 757 I am the Devil, You are the Demon
The Black Robed Man stared at the short-haired woman, his voice cold and hoarse, "I strongly disagree with your opinion. I'll admit, you have quite a number of people, but it seems you're easier to deceive than I thought, or maybe you're just overly confident.
You've set such a large trap to the south of Jialan City that even a blind man could see it. Did you really think I'd walk right into it?
Perhaps you believed that I'd be solely focused on escaping, trying to flee to the coast to board a ship and leave. But how could I be so foolish as to do what you've already anticipated? So, I merely took a slight detour around Jialan City, managed to shake off most of you, and almost completely broke free from your pursuit.
Unfortunately, my luck turned a bit sour in the end, just like that book said—about someone like me who has been abandoned by the Netherworld, whose soul has been sold to the Demon, I'm despised by all living creatures, including the Luck Goddess. Thus, in the final moment, I ran into your remaining forces.
But it doesn't matter now. Once I kill you, I'll be free, able to completely escape your chase."
"Mr. Sande, are you saying you are absolutely unwilling to cooperate with us?" the short-haired woman frowned, "I must tell you that we've already sent out the signal. A large force is rapidly adjusting their positions to encircle you once again in Jialan City, preventing your escape. Soon, they will hurry here to support us, doing their utmost to capture you. And you've been injured…"
As she spoke, the short-haired woman glanced at the Black Robed Man's chest.
She saw there a pronounced indentation, still emitting a burnt stench, a serious wound inflicted by their special weapon at the cost of one companion's life.
The short-haired woman continued, looking at the Black Robed Man, "Mr. Sande, you should be aware that our attacks are lethal to your unique constitution. They'll rapidly erode your life, and you won't last much longer. So, you would be better off cooperating with us."
"Save your breath," sneered the Black Robed Man, his eyes like icy balls as he gazed at the short-haired woman, "I'd rather die than fall into your hands.
Besides, I might not necessarily die. If I move quickly enough, kill you swiftly, and then escape, without your continual harassment, I have at least a fifty percent chance of surviving. At that point, it's going to be a headache for you!
I don't know why you've been targeting me for no reason from the start, but I have firmly memorized everything you've done, and I will repay you double."
By the end, the Black Robed Man gave a cold smile, sending a chill through the eyes of the short-haired woman. In the next moment, her murderous intent surged, and with no more hesitation, she shouted "Attack!" and, along with her two companions, launched their assault.
"Boom!"
"Swoosh!"
"Whoosh!"
A fireball with a diameter of over twenty centimeters, an Ice Spear two meters long, and a purple Wind Blade flew towards the Black Robed Man at once, aiming to exploit the initial advantage to heavily injure him.
If they could kill him, all the better.
But the Black Robed Man, unfazed, waved his hand, and a surge of dark energy bubbled from beneath his Black Robe, solidifying into an Energy Shield. At the forefront of the shield, a raised Skull head opened and closed its mouth, its eye sockets glowing with a green light, eerie and strange.
The Black Robed Man, holding the Skeleton Energy Shield, advanced towards the attacks and with several "thuds" deflected them all. Then he retracted the shield and, squinting, sharply said to the three short-haired woman, "Alright, my turn."
With those words, a white Bone Wand was pulled from the sleeve of the Black Robed Man.
It was a very crude Bone Wand, almost indistinguishable from a thigh bone picked up at random in a graveyard. But when the Black Robed Man held it in his hand, the three short-haired female warriors all sensed a lethal danger.
"Let me show you my new technique," said the Black Robed Man, brandishing the Bone Wand. A dense black light emerged at the tip of the wand, splitting into three strands, and shooting toward the three short-haired women.
Seeing this, one of the short-haired women shouted, "Be careful, defend!"
No sooner had she spoken than the three of them simultaneously cast Magic Shields in front of themselves.
"Pfft!"
One of the three strands of black light struck the short-haired woman's cyan-colored Energy Shield, emitting a soft sound before dissipating, rendering it powerless.
The short-haired woman couldn't help but pause, slightly tilting her head, just in time to see another companion looking over at her, a face filled with surprise and confusion, seemingly faced with the same situation.
In a flash, the short-haired woman guessed a possibility and turned her head sharply to warn the second companion who was farther from her, "Morton, be careful!"
Her warning came a bit too late.
The third and final strand of black light hit the blue Energy Shield in front of Morton. Instead of dissipating, it rapidly expanded with a "bang" into a mass of black mist.
Then, from within the mist, two slender arms materialized, each ending in sharply clawed fingernails, as deadly as metal blades. They swiftly bypassed Morton's front Shield, effortlessly penetrating his back and left rib.
"Pfft," a large gush of blood spurted out.
Mr. Sande, who had remained in place, dissolved like a phantom and reappeared behind the Male Wizard Morton, reaching out to catch all the blood spewing from Morton's body into his own.
"Thud!"
Morton's body fell to the ground, and a bit of color returned to Sande's pale face. He turned to look at the short-haired woman with a sinister smile.
"You demon, I will kill you!" Having witnessed her companion's tragic death, the short-haired woman clenched her teeth and yelled, reaching behind her to draw two special daggers. Intricate Magic Runes were etched on the daggers' surfaces, emitting a faint white light, indicating some kind of special effect.
Gripping the daggers tightly, the short-haired woman abandoned her conservative defense, applied several Enhancement Magics to herself, and with one step, lunged at high speed toward Sande.
Sande saw this and transformed into a mass of black mist, fearlessly confronting the short-haired woman. A roaring voice emanated from the mist, "I am a Devil, but what are you? I just wanted to bring Sofia back to life, to live with her, yet you killed her! Unraveled her completely! If I am a Devil, then you are an even more despicable Demon than the Devil itself!"
"Bang!"
The black mist and the short-haired woman collided, her dagger gleaming brightly with silver light as it frenziedly stabbed into the depths of the mist.
While attacking, she said coldly, "Who we are is none of your concern. All you need to know is 'we are right, you are wrong!' You don't understand at all the price of the actions you've taken, all we do is for your own good!"
After finishing her words, the short-haired woman thrust her dagger with all her might into the black mist. The light on the dagger surged, piercing straight through the mist.
