Chapter 753: The Power of Half the Inventory
Bobbobovic had been speaking calmly, but he suddenly became anxious. He realized that the middle-aged male wizard who had begun to flee was moving faster than he had anticipated, so he hurried to give chase.
As he pursued with full force, he found he was indeed slightly faster than the middle-aged wizard, and he began to close the gap between them with some relief.
After calming down, Bobbobovic frequently attacked, casting various spells to harass the fleeing middle-aged wizard. On one hand, he wanted to slow the wizard down so he could catch up more quickly. On the other hand, it was purely retaliatory, a payback for the earlier attacks from the middle-aged wizard.
As it is quite difficult to release powerful spells that require long preparations during flight, the spells Bobbobovic hurled were all small, lower-rung magics, weak in power, but still enough to be bothersome.
As he attacked in this manner, Bobbobovic taunted the middle-aged wizard, "Watch me burn your hair, watch me zap your butt, watch me slice your ears..."
After a while like this, Bobbobovic had chased the middle-aged wizard to within just a few dozen meters.
The middle-aged wizard's plight had become even more miserable than Bobbobovic's; his clothes were not just tattered but utterly shredded, barely able to cover his body, his whole back exposed.
Bobbobovic shouted from behind him, "Just surrender! I'm telling you, I haven't even used my full strength yet. Otherwise, you wouldn't even know how you died."
As soon as Bobbobovic finished speaking, he saw the middle-aged wizard's body rapidly descend towards the ground.
"Hm? Are you really preparing to surrender? That can't be, right?" Bobbobovic was skeptical, but not wanting to be underestimated, he followed suit and descended toward the ground.
With two "plops", the middle-aged wizard and Bobbobovic landed separately.
Bobbobovic, with a degree of caution, looked at the middle-aged wizard and said, "Hey, are you really planning to surrender? I'll have you know I have quite a temper. If you dare to deceive me, you'll regret it. So, you'd better not play any tricks!"
"How could I dare?" The middle-aged wizard, who had landed with his back to Bobbobovic, slowly turned around and faced him, seriously saying, "Actually, I just wanted to bring you here to meet my companions."
"Huh? Companions?" Bobbobovic was first stunned, then his expression sharply changed.
"Rustle rustle rustle..."
With a rustling, over a dozen figures appeared where the middle-aged wizard had landed, both male and female, all with an imposing presence, slightly surrounding Bobbobovic in the middle.
Although Bobbobovic was a third-level wizard, he was at no advantage at the moment, for among the dozen figures, there were others who were third-level wizards as well. Although the opposition was not as strong as him, they only needed to restrain him, and the rest would be more than enough to kill him ten times over.
If the opposing numbers had been only half, or maybe a third of his, he might have tried to fight. But now they were too many, all staring him down. At any sign of trouble, they would strike mercilessly, making them completely unstoppable.
In that case, his only option was to run.
Thinking this, Bobbobovic's eyes quickly scanned the dozen people surrounding him. Without another word, he abruptly pulled out another potion bottle from his pocket, threw it into his mouth, and bit down hard.
"Gulp," he swallowed the potion in one go, then "ptui," he spat out the shattered glass. Bobbobovic's aura surged once more, his status rising from a middle stage third-level wizard to a third-level high-rank wizard.
"Crack!"
Bobbobovic stomped on the ground, soared high into the air, and burst through the weakest part of the encirclement.
The people encircling him were not about to let him off easily and quickly gave chase.
Bobbobovic noticed their movements from the corner of his eye, suddenly veered, and flew southwards. The next moment, an energy ball came hurtling towards him, which he rapidly parried with a thin energy shield. Then, an ice cone buzzed past his body; had his dodging not been quick enough, it would have pierced right through him.
After evading two consecutive attacks, Bobbobovic was about to breathe a sigh of relief when he felt a numbing sensation throughout his body. He had been struck by an inconspicuous Thunder Spell. Immediately afterward, he felt a sharp pain in his back as a powerful Air Missile hit him, causing him to spew out a large mouthful of fresh blood.
There was no way to counter; he was outnumbered and couldn't fend off all the attacks.
Gritting his teeth, Bobbobovic was clear-headed about his options. Whether fleeing or stopping to entangle with the enemy, he would most likely die unless...
"Here goes nothing!"
Bobbobovic raised his hand, activating a Magic Bracelet he wore and used a Magic Shield to block a Wind Blade from the enemy, then he headed west at full speed.
...
It was a brief time, but Bobbobovic felt it stretched out as long as a century.
When Bobbobovic finally saw his destination, the Blue Lake Estate, right before his eyes, he was already battered and bloody, his clothing dyed crimson, resembling a man made of blood.
Catching a glimpse of his enemies persistently in pursuit out of the corner of his eye, Bobbobovic shouted, "Richard, help me!"
As he spoke, he lowered his altitude and skimmed over the top of the Blue Lake Estate. If only Richard would make a move, he would be safe.
But...
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The enemies chasing him released multiple spells that grazed his body and fell.
The spells hit the Blue Lake Estate, causing massive explosions with fierce flames. Yet there was no movement in the estate—Richard's shadow was nowhere to be seen.
This!
Bobbobovic froze for a moment, having left the boundaries of the Blue Lake Estate. Looking back at the enemies closing in, a chill crept into his heart. Just as he thought he might have to fight it out with the pursuing enemies, a piercing howl rose.
Bobbobovic turned his head and witnessed a scene he would never forget.
Countless bizarre arrows rained down from the sky, large and small, short and long, thick and thin, descending rapidly. They erupted around the many people in pursuit, exploding all at once.
"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"
For the first time, Bobbobovic realized that when countless explosions occurred in a very short time frame, they were indistinguishable to the naked eye, just like a single explosion.
In the blink of an eye, his field of vision was overtaken by the dazzling light of the explosions. A vast expanse of flames, over a hundred meters in radius, filled the sky, forming a real "Fire Cloud."
Within the "Fire Cloud," those under attack cried out in resistance, hastily casting Protective Shields.
But then even more bizarre arrows appeared, piercing through the fire cloud, striking the Magic Shields, and instantly shredding them, unleashing terrifying power.
"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"
"Ah! Ah! Ah!"
