Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Provocation
Reflecting on it, Malen realized that York's actions were a counterattack, an insult to it!
"Roar! You damn bug!"
Malen propped up his upper body, his face ferocious as he reached for York, wanting to tear him apart.
"How dare you mock me!! I will kill you, I definitely will!"
Unfortunately, its dirty black hands only grasped at the air in front of York, stopping just a few centimeters away.
The tightly stretched ropes restricted its movements.
Malen glared at York with a ferocious face, his mouth open like a zombie ready to bite.
Indeed, to York, Malen's fierce appearance looked like an impotent, raging zombie. York glanced at Archibald, who had been observing from the side. He didn't intend to use the traditional exorcism methods, instead, he touched the palm of Malen's outstretched hand.
"Why did you choose Malen?"
"Ugh ah!"
Malen maintained a lunging posture, kneeling on the bed, his upper body suspended in the air due to the ropes holding his hands.
"You..." York raised an eyebrow, leaned forward, and stopped right in front of those dirty black hands, looking straight into Malen's blood-red eyes.
"A king of hell... actually avoiding my question?"
Perhaps York's words struck a chord, as Malen slowly withdrew his hands, awkwardly squatting on the bed, tilting his head while staring at York.
"I can choose whoever I want!" Malen said, staring at the expressionless York before tilting his head to the other side.
"I can also possess anyone I choose! I am your nightmare!"
York's posture remained unchanged, but his eyes gleamed with amusement.
This statement indirectly answered his question.
"Then why didn't you choose, say, someone with more influence, like possessing the Pope or an Archbishop? Instead, you chose Malen, an ordinary, worthless person?"
In the midst of Archibald's wide-eyed gaze, and as Malen's blood-red eyes began to deepen, York revealed a smile.
"If it were me, I would have done that. If I had your abilities and still chose someone ordinary like Malen, I might as well just stay at home."
Malen stared at York, who was smiling. It felt mocked and, for some reason, like York was talking down to it. It hated this feeling.
Malen opened his saliva-dripping mouth and roared at York.
Like a bad breath emanating from Malen's mouth, a gust of wind appeared out of nowhere. If it were Archibald, he might have been blown backward, but York, standing firm, used his magic power to shield himself.
[Two points of magical power used]
Listening to the mechanical sound near his ear, York looked at the snarling Malen and rubbed his chin.
If it were before, he would have used his magic power to amplify the recitation of the Bible and the effect of the cross to exorcise the demon inside Malen. Now, he wanted to teach Archibald a lesson on how to use a demon's personality to achieve one's goals.
"Roar!!!"
"…!"
Malen's blood-red eyes turned to Archibald, who was being blown back by the mere wind, and then stared at the immovable York, showing a hint of confusion.
"You see, right?" York smiled at Malen, who had stopped shouting.
"King of Hell!"
Malen's brows furrowed, humanizing behavior that made his ferocious face no longer terrifying.
"You don't believe me! You doubt me!!!" Malen leaned toward York, hissing.
"I am the king of hell!! I can possess anyone!! Anything!!!"
Saying this, Malen lunged towards York, biting at the air.
"Ugh ah!"
York just smiled without responding, instead glancing back. He heard the grunting of a pig.
Soon enough, under everyone's gaze, the elder actually brought a pig over.
"Father!!"
The elder timidly handed the rope to York.
"Thank you, the Lord is with you."
York nodded and took the rope.
The elder, still not daring to look at Malen, edged towards Archibald.
"Ugh ah!!!"
Malen didn't understand what was happening, just staring at York and making ferocious animalistic noises.
Archibald was also confused. He thought he had an idea, but it was like a fog, making his thoughts unclear.
"Grunt grunt!"
Hearing the pig's sounds, York stroked the pig next to the chair, apologizing in his heart.
"King of Hell, can you really possess anyone, anything?" York stroked the pig while smiling at the howling Malen on the bed.
"I doubt it! You can't do it!"
These words ignited Malen's anger again. It propped up its upper body toward York, snarling fiercely.
"I am the king of hell, I can possess anyone! Anything!!"
York remained calm, continuing to smile.
"I don't believe it! You can't even possess this unintelligent pig beside me, let alone other people?"
Saying this, York clicked his tongue.
"Tsk tsk, is this what the king of hell amounts to? Can't even possess a pig, I think you're just trash in hell, a plaything for your kind!"
As if York's words hit the mark, Malen's face became even more ferocious, and it started frantically struggling against the ropes binding its limbs.
"I can possess anyone, anything!!!"
This scene unfolded before Archibald's eyes, and he finally understood what Father York was doing. His eyes showed disbelief, or perhaps his worldview was being challenged.
York, staring at the frenzied Malen on the bed, showed no change in expression, patting the pig next to him.
"King of Hell! Prove it to me! No! Show us your power!!"
Malen suddenly stared at the pig beside York and then knelt on the bed, raising his upper body and howling.
"I am the king of hell!!!"
"Ugh ahhhh!!!"
"…"
The next second, in Archibald's shocked gaze, Malen, who had been howling non-stop, suddenly collapsed.
Then he saw Father York suddenly clench his fist, punching the pig's head.
