Exo Seeker: The Strongest Human Woke Up In The Future!

Chapter 77: Dmitri

"I know you," Bach Ponce said, eyes narrowed as he gritted his teeth in anger. He clenched his fists, his hands reddening with veins popping up. "You're one of those bastards who killed my wife."

"Killed your wife?" Hearing this, the man in the black suit raised an eyebrow. "We didn't kill her. We just wanted what she had. She refused to give it up, so we fought. Bad luck was on her side though—she suffered grave injuries."

"Ha! That's because your btch of a wife was greedy and fcking weak! She deserved it!" Kevin shouted from the side, his face crazed and filled with gloating. Seeing Bach and Milan in this state made him feel high, like he was on drugs. This was exactly what he wanted. Once they got the suit, his boss would rise in the gang, and he'd finally have his own subordinates to command.

Just thinking about it made his heart race and his eyes glint in anticipation. Not only would he have men under him, but more women to play with. With a higher position, his boss would grant him more resources—money, connections, and benefits.

As he indulged in his fantasies, he didn't notice the cold glare coming from his boss.

"You. Get out."

Kevin heard the words and instinctively glanced at Milan, who had gone silent as the conversation shifted between his boss and the miner. Milan was irrelevant for now—but not for long. He'd make sure she became relevant again… when she was kneeling before him.

"You heard Boss Dmitri. Get out, Milan, and wait for me outside. Once we settle everything here, we're going to have the best time of our lives," Kevin said, his voice turning soft—completely unlike the maniac he was moments ago.

"He's talking about you, you braindead pig," Milan shot back, voice mocking as she glared at her ex-husband.

"Huh?" Kevin blinked in confusion, turning to look at his boss, who stared at him with eyes as cold as ice. "Boss… do you want me to get out?"

"I want you to get the f*ck out of here," Dmitri said, voice low and threatening.

Kevin gulped. That tone—he knew it well. His boss was serious. One wrong move and he wouldn't just get beaten—Dmitri might kill him right then and there.

"I…" Kevin stuttered, fear creeping into his voice. He took a deep breath and lowered his head. "I'll go, Boss."

He turned toward the door where the other gang members waited outside. But before he could step through it, his boss spoke again.

"Give the baby to the woman."

"But Boss," Kevin turned around, startled. "I… I want her. If I give her baby back… aren't we going to lose face if I just hand over what we took?"

As soon as his words fell, silence blanketed the room. Outside, the gang members exchanged uneasy looks before turning their eyes to Kevin—eyes filled with pity.

Kevin was quick when it came to sensing danger. The moment he felt those stares, his body trembled.

"This d*mn mouth of mine…" he muttered, then dropped the knife. Without hesitation, he started slapping his mouth with his free hand, the sharp sound echoing through the room.

He hurried over to Milan and gently handed over the crying baby. His face had turned red with humiliation, his expression blank but boiling with shame and rage.

'I will kill you and your daughter,' Kevin mouthed, killing intent radiating from him and making Milan shiver in fear as she clutched her daughter tightly.

But the cold expression vanished the moment Kevin turned around—replaced by fear.

The intense stare from his boss made Kevin quicken his pace out of the room. But just as he stepped outside, he suddenly felt an intense heat surge behind him. His eyes widened—he knew exactly what was about to happen.

There was no time to react.

In the next second, a small explosion erupted on his back, sending him flying out the door.

It was only a small blast, but the damage was devastating—Kevin's back was charred, exposing blackened flesh and bone. He didn't even have the chance to scream; the pain hit too hard, too fast. He passed out instantly.

"Sorry for that," Dmitri said, adjusting his black suit as he turned to Bach Ponce. "I did what you wanted. Your daughter and granddaughter are now out of the way. I kept my word. You should keep yours."

Bach glanced at his granddaughter, still crying from the cut on her neck, before glaring at Dmitri. His fists clenched so tight they cracked, unable to contain the fury building inside.

But no matter how angry he was, the safety of his daughter and granddaughter came first.

Bach knew it was unfair—the man in front of him was one of those who killed his wife. Their captain. Someone she had trusted. And now, that same man was still bringing ruin to their family, chasing something that never belonged to him.

But no matter how twisted or unjust the situation was, Bach couldn't compromise their safety.

With a deep breath, he exhaled heavily.

"You should've killed him," Bach muttered, glancing toward Kevin's unconscious body outside.

"He's a dog that still has his use," Dmitri replied, his cold eyes unblinking as they locked onto the miner. "Now tell me, old man, before I lose my patience."

"Tsk…" Bach spat on the floor, then gave in. "Before she came to us, she went into a Fissure. That's where you'll find the suit."

"Fissure?" Dmitri raised an eyebrow. "What grade?"

"Blue. West of Hury. One of the repeatable ones," Bach said.

"Blue Grade, huh? There are two repeatable blues in that area. Which one?" Dmitri asked, a frown forming on his face.

"The one with the ghost," Bach replied, a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Ghost… troublesome. Very troublesome," Dmitri muttered.

"I've already told you what you wanted. Don't bother us again," Bach said, gritting his teeth.

Dmitri stared at the miner for a long moment, then finally gave a small nod. "I see… my business here is done. But—"

Bach and Milan both sighed in relief. But when they heard Dmitri trail off, their bodies tensed again. Their eyes snapped toward him, filled with unease.

"But… in case you're lying, consider this your warning," Dmitri said as he raised his right hand, fingers poised to snap.

Bach and Milan stared at his hand, unsure of what was coming—but Bach's gut screamed at him that something terrible was about to unfold.

And it did.

The moment Dmitri snapped his fingers, sparks erupted throughout the room. In the blink of an eye, a burst of flames exploded outward, engulfing the entire space in fire.

"This is your deposit," Dmitri said coldly, his voice cutting through the rising heat like a blade. "If you're lying, I'll collect the rest—and that means your body, your daughter's, and the baby's. Or… you can stay here and die now."

With that said, Dmitri laughed and walked out through the broken door.

"Let's go out!" Bach quickly covered Milan and her daughter with a curtain before leading them out of the house.

When they turned around, all they could see was their home engulfed in flames. Memories of their life inside flashed through their minds—causing Milan to burst into tears, while Bach stood there, expressionless and hollow.

Smoke rose from the burning house. Drones flew overhead, showering the remains with constant streams of water.

Authorities surrounded the area, conducting inspections and investigations. A few onlookers remained, though most had already left.

Kael Draven stood on one side, his eyes fixed on Milan, who was being interviewed by one of the enforcers at the scene.

After watching her for a few more seconds, his gaze dropped to the baby in his arms.

Seeing the peaceful child sleeping with a soft smile on her face brought a smirk to the White Prime."Fortunately, not a trace of your father taints that face," Kael muttered.

As he studied the baby, he noticed a bracelet on her left wrist. Leaning in, he saw that it had a small piece of wood attached—an engraving carved into its surface.

"Mira…" Kael read quietly, then looked back at the baby. "So she named you after your grandma? That's a gift worth cherishing."

Silence settled between them.

Kael glanced around at everyone, each busy with their own task. Seeing that Milan's interview wasn't over yet, he looked back at the baby in his arms.

"What about this?" he whispered. "This is probably the last time we'll see each other, so I'll give you a gift."He smiled. "I'll give you my protection—the White Prime's blessing. In the future, if a problem arises that you can't handle, I'll find my way to you and help."

As if understanding his words, the baby let out a soft laugh in her sleep.

"I see you like my gift," Kael chuckled.

"What are you saying to my granddaughter?" a voice suddenly asked.

Turning toward the sound, Kael saw the miner walking toward him.

"I'm giving her my blessing and protection," Kael replied.

"You sound like a weirdo," Bach said, gently taking his granddaughter from Kael's arms. He smiled at her."Are you okay, Mira? Oh, you're smiling—having a good dream, huh? That's good. That's real good."

"So, what's your plan?" Kael asked, sliding his hands into his pockets.

"Live a safe and peaceful life," Bach Ponce answered. "I'm old. All I want is to sleep without worrying that my family's in danger. What about you?"

Kael was quiet for a moment before smiling."I'm going to take the suit."

"Yeah, you should take a suit," Bach nodded. "A Primer needs one. Going into a Fissure without one is suicide. Even if you can survive without it for now, having a suit is always better than not."

"I'm talking about your wife's Exoskeleton Suit," Kael corrected, his tone turning serious.
