Chapter 1: Chapter One-Extreme Hazard
"Walking home is sooo lameeee" is the first thing I thought when stepping outside of school grounds. It's a Monday, the school week just started, but luckily it's the end of the school year this Friday. My name is Ex-shin Yamamoto, ever since I was three years old, I've gained the ability to control, create, and manipulate time for as long as I want..until I get tired that is, but I don't do that easily. This is known as my blessing. Blessings are Heavenly powers or abilities that come from the beings that live up there. As far as us humans know, only angels reside up there, and that's who we get our powers from. Though, imagine more than just them. What would that look like? One day, I plan to reach the heavens and find out myself…! But I have to get stronger, I need power that can crack the skies. I also have the ability to glow red hot and melt anything I touch. Kinda like blowtorching a ball to be red hot, but instead for me, it takes an instant for me to become like that. I like to call it Incinerate. And for this ability, it came from down below, Hell. Hell, for as we humans know for now, is home to feinds, and they grant us curses. Curses are mostly destructive abilities or powers given to us by Hell's creatures.
Though I have a feeling that I can do so much more, I have been working on a new ability for a week and it's almost done! Just one more day I'll give it, one more. When taking in the cool breeze of this summer day, crossing the street on a red light, a nearby school bus full of children comes rushing down the road fast. Simultaneously, down said street, the smell of gas can be located coming from a gas station as a man is getting ready to light a cigarette. *SNAP* Time stops as the air around becomes stiff. Traffic lights cease to move, and birds no longer are capable of motion. Me, donning a black pair of jeans with light gray boots, and a light gray hoodie, I flip my hood over my dreads and begin to work my magic.
Starting with the school bus, with both hands in my pockets, I board the vehicle as I observe all the reactions of everyone in here. I gather all the bodies on the bus one by one, carrying all figures in my arms and shoulders while I move them out, dropping them on the concrete sidewalk. Again, with my hands in both pockets, I stride over to the nearby gas station where a man is getting ready to light a cigarette. "Hehe…", a thought crosses my mind. Walking away from the scene, I come back with a giant, devious smile on my face. "Now talk about a washdown!", I laugh. Swinging a big bucket full of water in my hand before coming up to the man and giving a little nudge to his shoulder with my elbow. I let go of the bucket, without gravity being active the bucket doesn't drop. Alternatively, it stays airborne.
Meanwhile, I pull my phone out of one of my pockets and prepare a, "SELFIE". *Flash!* Picture taken of myself and the man trying to light a smoke stick. "Anyways, that's enough fun for the hour," I begin, "Time to actually stop people from dying." I grab the bucket full of water and dump it on the guy's head, stopping him from being able to light anything, also stopping what could've been the possible cause for an explosion. "Oops, I almost forgot", heading towards the school bus, I remembered if I were to resume time, the vehicle would still be moving and soon to crash. "Incinerate…".
My body glows a bright red and orange as the temperature rises dramatically high. I still don't know how my clothes go undamaged every time I do this. I'm starting to believe what I wear is near unbreakable. The entire asphalt road melts back down to a black goo as I walk through the bus, melting and burning the metal and other materials around to a rectangular pile of what was a school bus. Stepping from the hot liquid metal, I take a look at my work, gorgeous, and magnificent it is.
Stepping back, I continue to walk towards my original destination. Walking away from the scene, I resume time. The events that took place when time stopped began to take effect in regular time. Children screaming on the sidewalk in terror with tears constantly running down their faces thinking this may be the last day on earth for them, the man near the gas station drenched in water, pissed at the fact he's soaked, confused and all. Melted asphalt and metals run down the rest of the road as all people in the local area turn their attention towards the smell of gas and melted roads.
Minutes later as I'm strolling the streets, not far from home, down the street from home actually, cop cars speed past loudly and hurriedly heading to where chaos almost took place. But I wasn't too worried about them though. Once home, or at least in the domain, a beam of light shoots up in the sky, catching my peripheral. With a quick glance to my right, towards a small forest next to my home, the production of the beam grows as a man-No. This isn't just a man, it's an angel! His golden feathery wings gave it off.
They flap in unison every so often and give off a cool energy. "Well well, a human! Lucky me to find one so soon.". The angel utters with a small grin played on his face, with white hair covering the eyes. "Now come with me and I'll make you a soldier on the front lines of war. I can sense the power you possess to have potential.". "I know. And you won't force me to do anything for your lousy war you creep.". The angel rips his top layer of clothing, exposing a no-sleeve, black compression shirt in addition to his white and light blue pants and shoes to match. "Let me tell you something you may not know kid. In war, everyone is a participant.". From the shadows of the trees. Comes out, a horned man with almost basic dress attire.
A pair of gray pants, black shoes, and an unzipped black jacket that exposes his gray, bare chest. A fiend…the gray skin gave it away. "Two for the price of one? And I get to rip the wing of an angle? Lucky mee~" The fiend walks up to my right while the angel stays on the left. Silence fills the area briefly before the fiend rushes in to attack me as the angel shoots ice to freeze the both of us. I react quick enough to move out of the way, but I suffer from a gut punch from the fiend that sends me flying through a couple of trees. Both beings rush to my location and continue to fight with me being in the middle. Coming from both attackers, I dodge a punch from both of them before slipping out from the middle and punching both beings' liver. They stop their fight and draw attention towards me.
The fiend tries to jump at me, unfortunately, the angel gets a hold of one of the fiend's horns and flash freezes its entire body before punching through it. Using time manipulation is a bit tiring at the moment, I need to settle with what I have for now…"Incinerate". My body glows a red and bright orange as I step up to the angel.
"So you're my fight huh? And here I thought you were just a norm, trying to survive…". Ice covers the arms and legs of the angel and forms a mask of ice on him. "...Knowing you had power like this, I would've given you an offer to be my personal guard! But too bad you have to die…". The angel's frozen aura collides with my scorching hot blaze, creating a half-half area of hot and cold. He starts with some light jabs and punches that are easily dodged. I swerve through a few more attacks before countering with a right hook that makes the being stumble back. I mix in a straight, and fakeout a low kick into a chest kick. I throw in a few more punches and kicks at the angel, but I miss as he weaves my attempts and places his hand on my chest gently. "Wha…?". "...Flash Freeze…!!". *Blast!* A large amount of ice covers my body while the angel laughs and jumps around. "I got him! I got him!-Huh….?".
I annoyingly raise the temperature. My body melts and evaporates the ice almost instantly. Meanwhile, I slick my hair back with the water before the angel barrel towards me and take a swipe at my neck with an ice axe. I duck under the weapon and sweep the angel's legs while falling into a, "People's elbow!". *Slam!!* Then, I step away a few feet to let the angel rise again. I speedblitz towards the angel while breaking the sound barrier a few times, striking it with a double fist to the ribs before I stop time once more.
I breathe, taking in the cool, motionless air that surrounds me. I buckle one of the angel's knees with a kick and break the other knee with a second kick. The angel is soon to fall when time starts back up. I distance myself from the being behind it and run up. Time begins to move and the angel's body falls. But before it could reach the ground, I came running up from behind and slammed the beings neck down with a, "RKO!!", driving both of our bodies somewhat underground as I felt the angel's neck snap.
I crawl out of the crater made by the impact and turn off Incineration. "Ugh…Alright! Time to go home finally!". I stride out the forest and head to my right where a house with two floors, an attic, and a basement lies within the midnight purple walls. My mom is off on a business trip and won't be back for months.
She sends me a monthly payment of 20,000BGC (Black Gold Coins). 10,000BGC to pay the bills and for food, but the rest is for me though.
I always ask myself why my mom gives so much money to me. I know her job pays a lot but 20,000BGC is crazy. The bills are only eight thousand, and the groceries are barely 300BGC for just me…4-10 hundred BGC if I have company. But that still leaves me with a little above 10,000 all to myself. But I haven't really had anything to spend this money on, besides, I'm saving for now.
I walk up the stairs of my rock plated porch and open the door to my house. Before stepping in, I reverse the time of date for my gray boots again to be just as clean as when I first got 'em. I walk up the stairs and to my left where my room is. Opening the door, the sleek mechanical walls to my room flutter a dim purple with its color changing highlights. On my metal plated desk, I search for an item of mine. It's very important to me.
I got it for my 17th birthday, and the 18th is rolling by here soon. After checking the multiple drawers I finally found what I was looking for. "ah HA! There you are, you scared me for a second there.". What I grab is my nanotech watch that switches form from wrist watch to pocket watch. It also lets me know the exact time, date, and year wherever I'm at according to what my mom said, using holograms. Apparently a coworker made this for her so she can give to me. I put on the wrist watch as it changes color to match my outfit. "We're going with white today, are we?", I say as my wrist watch glows a bright, clean white. "I actually need to train more. End of school tournament is less than a week. The most important event in school history. Year after year the school has been doing this.
Even my mom participated in these tournaments.". In the midst of thinking, I dig deeper in the business of my own power. "Besides, I need to get stronger! We cannot use items in the event, so before I fight, I'll take my watch off. Obviously, we can't kill anybody. Not that anyone would want to…right?". *Knock Knock Knock*
The door? I jump down to the first floor and answer the door.
As it slightly creaks and opens, a female from my school, dressed up in proper attire speaks to me. "Hey Ex! End of school outings are happening, care to join? I know you don't really like a large setting with people, but-", "I'll go", I interrupt. She smiles at me while I lock my house and walk with her into a car full of different people who are also in my grade level and above.
We first hit up a park. Everybody left laughing and talking about the main cause of the park getting melted, me. I embarrassingly threw my hood on as we drove to our next destination which was a cliffside. We arrived there around 9 p.m to chat and chill before getting to the next location, a restaurant not far from where we were. Once we ate, everyone parted ways to their own house. I was the last stop. I say my goodbyes and get going into my home and lay on the couch. " *sigh* I just hope tomorrow will be as good as tonight was…"
