Evolution Theory of the Hunter

Chapter 142

“Damn it! What is that!”

“It’s monsters!”

“Block them!”

“Where did everybody go!”

“Damn it!”

As the terrifying monster army ran down the hill with the Giant White Tiger leading them, the Chungho Group troops hurriedly drew their swords.

Thanks to Jang Moon-bok playing an active role, the siege was not as tight. If we got stalled even for a moment then hunters will soon gather and it will become difficult to push through.

I took out the Dancing Sword and sent it flying in the air.

The Dancing Sword was originally incredibly heavy. A weapon that used kinetic energy rather than sharpness to destroy the enemies.

Aura Blade was coated on the Dancing Sword that had such destructive power.

The Dancing Sword reached its peak.

The Dancing Sword’s power when it strikes down from up there might be the most powerful attack I have right now.

Also, that strength is something that even I can’t imagine.

With the sound like that of a missile flying, the Dancing Sword stabbed into the middle of the enemies.

Boooom!

Boom!

The ground turned over and trees got pull out from their roots. Boulders shattered and dust shot up into the air.

The scattering boulder pieces and tree splinters. Dust and dirt. And human limbs.

In a moment, dozens of people met their deaths. The blood formed a small stream.

The Giant White Tiger ran through that devastating scene.

“Kuhuk!”

“Kuk!”

“Ahhh!”

The ones that luckily survived got stomped under the monsters and became pounded rice cakes. Would the ones scream while vomiting blood ever have imagined that they would meet their ends at this place?

Blood splattered on my face. I glared fiercely as I swung the Dancing Sword at the ones blocking the way.

The lethal sword that moved as if there was a string attached to me cut armor and shield like it was paper destroying everything.

However, the Chungho Group’s counterattack wasn’t formidable either.

They threw their lives away to block the path of the monsters. Where they guys that jumped in this persistently?

Around the time the Giant White Tiger’s steps started getting slower.

Boom!

Explosions rang out from behind the Chungho Group.

“We have waited a long time!”

Eum Young-hyeon’s voice could be heard.

Our allies who had been standing by had started firing as support. Han Joon-suk’s Dragon Killer burned the enemies as it spewed fire.

Manager Kim’s Sleep spell knocked out the Chungho Group members that were coming as support while Yeon-gyeong was continuously firing arrows like a storm.

An Gyu-bum was also cutting down the enemies from behind. He looked rather timid, possibly due to not being familiar with interpersonal battle but he was doing his share.

“This way!”

Cho Young-gu turned on his shield barrier and opened the path. Finally, Eum Young-hyeon holding an axe jumped into battle.

The Chungho Group held their weapons towards him who had suddenly landed in their midst.

At the moment I was thinking that it might be dangerous, Eum Young-hyeon’s body bended back like a bow.

“UAHHH!”

A battle cry that could dominate the battlefield full of several thousand hunters rang out.

My ear drums were ringing. It was to the point that my head felt dizzy even though we were quite far apart.

“What is…… Kuk?”

“Cough!”

“Kuaak.”

Dozens of hunters that were surrounding Eum Young-hyeon suddenly started collapsing with blood spouting out of their entire body.

This was not a normal battle cry.

The soundwave itself had physical power and fried lives. I couldn’t help being surprised because I thought it would be a technique that raised ally morale since it was a battle cry and all.

“…… Amazing.”

An exclamation came out unintentionally.

That was literally a skill that killed all humans in a certain area around him.

I realized that I had incorrectly drawn a line on his level.

Even if it was a level 7, a technique could perform greater than that. Level was not absolute and one could show might greater than their ability.

I had always face higher level enemies and yet I couldn’t grasp his exact level.

I had thought that An Gyu-bum had back away from Eum Young-hyeon even after getting humilated because of manners towards an older person or because of his position as the leader of team 2.

However, thinking about it, An Gyu-bum was the heir to a large company. There was no way that a mercenary team leader of 2,000 would have a higher standing than An Gyu-bum.

An Gyu-bum had instinctively felt it. Eum Young-hyeon’s level was much higher than what could be seen on the outside.

It was only level 7 but there was no method of blocking that attack that used soundwaves. It wasn’t something that could be solved by blocking one’s ears.

The soundwave itself had physical power that would penetrate the skin and shake up the internal organs after all. Even armor could not help.

Even I wouldn’t be able to block that attack properly if I was within its range. Of course, I had the Dancing Sword so I just had to swing it from far away but I would have been done in if I didn’t know about it beforehand.

Putting it that way, the manual really was great. It meant that I would be able to have the advantage of knowing the opponents specific information before fighting them.

This wasn’t the time for me to be blanking out.

“Hah!”

I took that moment to my advantage as I charged forward with the Giant White Tiger. I asked the monsters to fight more actively.

At that, the monsters that were in a wedge formation instantly scattered and indiscriminately started biting the enemies to death.

“Ahhh!”

“Everyone run away!”

A hole was finally created in the Chungho Group’s siege. Even if it was a small number, with people that possessed powerful skills and equipment in the front and back it was instead as if the Chungho Group was surrounded.

Looking that the ones that built up courage to attack and die in vain, the Chungho Group’s low level hunters running away was a matter of course.

It was an overwhelming battle.

The monster army finally penetrated the siege and came out. Following them, the over 2,000 government team also got through the siege.

“Run! You bastards! You die if you’re late!”

An Gyu-bum who was waiting there shouted.

I didn’t know why he was being like that when he barely did anything. Either way, it wasn’t like he was wrong.

If they didn’t match the speed the monsters were running at they would be left behind. The hunters mustered all their strength to run.

And everyone was finally able to escape the Chungho Group’s siege.

Casualties 0, it was a complete success where there were only a few wounded.

We escaped the pursuit by running away at full power. There were too many enemies to fight as it was.

We succeeded in slowing them down by sacrificing a few monsters and the hunters were able to enter the base safely.

It took 2 hours to leave but it took a full day to get back.

“Phew!”

Soo-ah sprawled in the van and let out a deep breath.

We came relatively easily because we were on horses but the hunters that came on their own two feet were lying down here and there and resting.

Son Aram quickly went around distributing blankets and people that had some strength left got up their bodies that wouldn’t move to get some porridge.

I left my party members to rest for now and headed to the temporary conference room. I, who had better stamina than most people, was better off.

“We have to retreat.”

Eum Young-hyeon said with a strong tone. The government team that had split into 3 had combined into one once again.

The remaining troops were about 4,800. It was a wonder that there were less than 200 casualties in the ambushes of the Chungho Group but it was certain that the current situation was a losing one.

Government team 1’s leader Lee Min-sung nodded in agreement.

The problem was Joo Sae-yoon. He was a 3rd class government official belonging to the National Defense Department and he himself was a level 6 hunter so he was strongly suggesting counterattacking.

“We have figured out the Chungho Groups total power throughout several battles. They have used all kinds of dirty tricks and we took how much damage? We have confirmed that they only have numbers and don’t have much else to show so why are you so scared as to want to run away.”

He was speaking informally with an overbearing attitude to the other team leaders from the beginning to the end. Eum Young-hyeon and Lee Min-sung’s expressions were stone stiff but they couldn’t express any particular discontent.

It was a situation where the de facto government team leader was him.

He continued speaking.

“The damage is only 200. And most of it is the normal hunters that lack ability. I’m saying that the alternative service members that can be seen as the main force is almost without damage. And you want to run away without being able to do anything? Are you really planning on doing so? Are you people really hunters of Korea?”

Then he started muttering to himself that they have become scared of the Chinese bastards.

What was this guy talking about. Did he not even remember thanks to who it was that he had barely survived after being isolated?

There was no way the two leaders didn’t know. But they also said this and that reason to state that it was wrong. However, Joo Sae-yoon maintained the same attitude the entire time.

He even started saying that Eum Young-hyeon and Lee Min-sung, who had grasped the situation properly, were traitors of the country.

At that point, I couldn’t endure any longer and opened my mouth.

“Do you really think that you can win them?”

“You keep your mouth shut. Do you really think this place needs your opinion?”

“What……?”

Joo Sae-yoon glared at me. He had an openly despising attitude.

Did this guy have amnesia.

“Who do you think it is that…….”

“Let us stop.”

At the moment I was going to stand up Eum Young-hyeon spoke. He had said it to Joo Sae-yoon, not me.

“This friend here has plenty of qualification to be here.”

“That is for me to decide. In the first place, isn’t he someone that didn’t even move with us from the beginning and is a normal hunter? I think that it is suspicious as to why that guy is suddenly meddling here. You all know that things started getting tangled from the point this guy appeared.”

Wow. I was about to become sick. Was this guy also thinking that I was a spy from the Chungho Group I wonder.

I didn’t know how his head could only process like that.

I realized that I had no reason to hold back.

“If I was a spy then I wouldn’t even have tried to save you people. I would like it if you knew thanks to who you’re alive.”

“Where do you think this is you bastard! How old are you?”

Joo Sae-yoon shot up from his seat and grabbed my collar.

A laugh came out on its own. How old he say.

“Is that all you’re curious about? If it was me then there would be a lot more to askk.”

“Urk.”

Joo Sae-yoon sent a punch. I grabbed that punch with ease.

Squeeze.

“Urg.”

He glared at me with bloodshot eyes. It wasn’t really scary even if he glared at me like that though.

“Section Chief Joo! What are you doing!”

Eum Young-hyeon interfered without being able to hold back. He didn’t even use honorifics anymore.

In the end, the conference came down to nothing with no specific conclusion.
