Evolution Online: I Can Fuse With All Things

Chapter 97: Newborn

While Gayanna laid her hands on Lady Varlyeth and it emitted a golden glow that washed over the lady, Lucien looked away for a moment and instead focused on himself.

His mind was much better than it had been a couple of minutes ago when he had mistakenly killed a level 300 monster, the servant of an Apostate, and gained tremendous rewards for it.

First of all, there were a lot of level ups, so much that the ringing of messages did not stop for a while even as Lucien ran, so he suspected that he would have gained a lot of levels, and item drops also.

Who knows, maybe he even received a Divine fragment!

However, what Lucien saw when he opened his profile was not what he expected to see.

Firstly, his profile had changed. He did not know what happened to the HUD display, but he knew that everything was suddenly now different about it.

'Was it because I killed the servant of an Apostate or was it because of the dragon…'

Lucien followed the latter. The dragon was a Sovereign, which is an even higher rank than the Godzilla or the Palebranch Kage. It was simply the strongest monster he had encountered and even on the list of monster ranks was quite close to the peak.

'Fusing with a Sovereign dragon… could I be a sovereign myself? That is why it changed? Or am I part NPC now?'

Lucien did not know what to suspect but whatever was happening with his fusion ability had an intricacy that baffled him.

Lucien sighed, he was speechless, and was at the same time grinning internally.

How many times does one just suddenly stubble upon a kill like that. And beside the faster his growth, the quicker he is able to exert his vengeance and figure out his situation.

Now, he wanted to see what other things he had gained.

He summoned the display.

Asides, resources drops, he had gained a lot of items and charms in fact.

[Arkhedron]

[The Scriptorium of Elarai]

[Spear of the Echoed Oath]

[Flame Heart]

[Egg???]

[Hammer of Hobbs and Shaw]

[Tenebris ring]

[The Null Diadem]

[Steel]

Lucien slowly counted the items he had received.

'Wow… nine items from one kill. And even another egg…'

His eyes suddenly widened.

'Right. The egg!'

It was rather strange and careless that he had forgotten the one reason why he fell into this fortunate coincidence disguised as an unfortunate one.

Lucien immediately summoned the obsidian egg. The egg from a blue light fell into his hands.

Immediately he yelled and dropped the egg on the floor. He violently shook his hand, as if to ward away the searing heat.

The sudden drop had also distracted Gaya, causing her to look at Lucien with a frown.

However, her frown was short-lived, quickly transforming into expressed shock as the heard a cracking sound and their gazes went down to the black egg.

The Crack continued slowly throughout the egg and until every part of the egg was filled with jagged lines of Crack.

Lucien was especially tensed, curious and waiting. Gaya had an indifferent expression but she had paused her business with the unconscious lady Varlyeth to look at whatever was happening.

Then something from inside seemed to break through the shell of the egg that looked like back stones.

Whatever was breaking out of it was a lustrous black wing that seemed to absorb the little light that illuminated the roon. The creature, slowly forced itself out of the egg, as it fully stepped out, it stumbled and rolled on the carpet landing with its belly and four small legs up.

Lucien stared, his eyes twinkling with stars.

The creature slowly forced itself to roll, it tried and tried but it was futile until Lucien assisted it with a light push and it was finally able to roll back to its legs.

Then it turned to Lucien and looked at him, tilting its head.

The head was small, with large purple eyes with vertical eyes. The small dragon blinked as it tilted its head left… and then right and then left again and right again.

Lucien could feel his heart thumping loudly.

'How can he be so cute?!'

The dragon slowly crawled towards him, staggering but moving anyway. At the same time, Lucien lowered his fingers.

He extended one slowly towards the dragon, and looked at the hand blinking curiously. It felt Lucien's finger, rubbing its head against it and then pulled back and closed its jaw on the finger with a cute ferocity on its hand.

Lucien almost shouted but then there was no pain. The dragon was a new born, hence it was toothless.

"Wooooo…"

He exhaled with serious relief.

And looked at the dragon that was still trying to munch on his index finger with its toothless mouth.

He looked at Gaya who was also looking at the dragon.

Her eyes were absorbed in the dragon, she was staring in awe.

Smiling, Lucien asked her.

"Are you familiar with dragons… from the age you lived."

She was silent… then she sighed.

"Well. Yes… from afar. I have never heard of a human owning nor riding one. Dragons are a race that are untouchable."

Lucien somehow could now find explanation to the hidden surprise and guarded expression that anyone could barely notice on Gaya's face.

"So… what do you think?"

Her eyes glanced at Lucien and went back to the small dragon now playing with his finger, jumping back and lunging at the finger.

"What do I think?"

She looked at Lucien.

"You want to keep it?"

He frowned in return and tilted his head back in a little surprise.

"That is the dumbest question you've asked since I knew you. Of course, I'm keeping it. What do you think I'd do, let it fly and be captured and hurt at such a young age?"

Gaya stared at him and scoffed.

Her scoff made Lucien frown darker.

"What?"

"A dragon getting hurt is absurd. At least it will be if it was ten thousand years ago. But I understand… dragons then had each other to depend on, their young ones are not easily seen. In fact I myself am just seeing a newborn dragon for the first time in my life."

She sighed and placed her hand above Lady Varlyeth's shoulder wounds.

"If you think you can protect it. Then do so… there are however so many problems that come with the presence of a dragon and I can see one has already found you."

She stared deeply into him, as if she was looking at his soul.

Lucien turned his body away from her, as if to protect his chastity.

"What?"

"I can feel mana emanating from you, which will insinuate that you now have mana, however, you don't have a mana heart yet… or should I be more accurate, you haven't managed to awakened it, despite all I thought you, however, you have gained and awakened a Dragon Heart which is even more powerful than a mana heart."

Lucien touched his chest, he could not feel anything different but he knew, since he saw the new numbers of his mana. But there was something he didn't quite understand.

"How is that a problem?"

Gaya exhaled and focused on healing her patient.

"You don't know mana guiding, mana circulation, the basics of mana heart, and you want to control a dragon heart which is like a hundred times more complex? The mana and magic art of dragons are supreme than what we elves can dare. Even I am not confident in my ability to cultivate a mana heart."

She finally withdrew her hands and looked at him again.

"Your body is holding on well because of the divine fragments but it is only a matter of time. Either ways, you have something that any Magus would die to have, however, I am not sure if it will be of any use for you. Your Magic talent is negative."

Lucien looked at her and grimaced.

"Despising me when I haven't even tried?"

She rolled her eyes.

"I was a Mage for a thousand years before being sealed for ten thousand. I've been around long enough to tell when someone is worse than having no talent. You Lord Cien, are better off swinging metals."
