Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 334: Blade

Malakai's gaze fell on the Corrupter, and in that instant, the creature felt as though death was staring at it.

A primal fear clawed up its spine. It was as though its heart screamed for it to submit, as though living itself was a crime, and punishment was already upon it.

The Corrupter's chest seized as Malakai leaned forward, but before he could move, a voice fell from the heavens.

"Crawl forth."

Malakai's head snapped upward.

The Summoner burst from the clouds with its giant summons, darkness trailing from its slender frame. Its hand stretched forward, and from its palm darkness spilled like ink, pouring down across the ground below.

The black tide writhed, seeping into cracks and flooding every surface. From it, countless creatures clawed their way out. They howled, shrieked, their forms dragging themselves into the world.

In the next moment, they converged together, their bodies fusing and twisting. The tide rose higher and higher until it molded into a titan of pure darkness.

It was enormous, its form dwarfing the entire stronghold of Sylvastein. Its eyes, dozens of pale voids, glared down upon Malakai with pure hatred.

Then, it let out an earth shaking roar that shook the heavens.

A dome of pure vita blazed to life and engulfed Nyx and the rest, shielding them from the piercing roar.

Nyx's expression was icy as she took on the sheer size of the titan. It dwarfed anything she had ever seen in her life. Even Rhett had a serious expression.

While the others, Laila, Grunde, Karla, Unoa, and even the blooms of the Sutrex, found it hard to stop their bodies from trembling.

The sight of the titan alone was enough to tell them just how out of place they currently were. A wave of its hand was enough to end them.

But despite the sight of the enormous titan, Rhett found himself staring directly at Malakai. Somehow, he felt the boy's presence was greater than the giant itself.

'What will he do?' he wondered, and the answer was one none of them expected.

"Take root."

A wave of vita burst out from Malakai, flooding the ruined forest in an instant.

For a moment, there was nothing but silence.

Then the ground began to quake. Broken trees shuddered as roots tore out from the soil. They surged upward like serpents, weaving together. They merged, knotting into something vast.

In the next moment, a towering colossus of wood formed. Vita spilled from its body in torrents, green light glowing from its cracks. Dozens of eyes opened across its bark like face, glowing with Malakai's radiance.

It roared.

The sound was so loud it sent gusts howling across the land, flattening what little still stood.

And as though in unison, both giants moved. Their massive hands lashed forward, howling gusts tearing the air.

When they collided, the shockwave erupted with unimaginable force. A gale flattened the forest for miles. The skies blazed with light as waves of green and black covered everything.

Rhett's face twisted as the blast slammed into the vita dome. The force sent them tumbling across the skies.

He forced his blood outward, wrapping the survivors and halting their erratic flight. Still, as he glanced at the dome, he shuddered at the cracks spreading across it.

He scanned their surroundings. They had been hurled from Murkroot Hollow, traversing kilometers, now above Sylvastein's main city. Below, the city looked like a sandstorm had swallowed it whole. Nothing but dust everywhere.

Rhett clenched his fists, mind reeling. One attack, just one, had wrought such havoc. An attack between a grade four… and a child. His gaze returned to the monster child.

Nyx hovered in the dome, her aura flaring. Despite the force, she held the shield intact. She ignored everything, her eyes fixed only on Malakai.

Through the haze of collapse and ruin, Malakai hovered untouched, scythe at his side, green fire spilling from his eyes.

To Rhett, it looked less like he was fighting and more like he was commanding the world itself.

Malakai felt like his body was power itself. Every cell, every muscle, every drop of blood pulsed with energy. He felt like an unending source. And it felt… good.

He could feel everything, the vita of millions, coursing through their veins, every heartbeat, every breath in the city. He saw everything. He felt everything.

Right now, he was power.

His blazing eyes cut through the haze, locking onto the Summoner and Corrupter. Their expressions hardened, their bodies tensed.

The two titans withdrew their colossal hands, the motion whipping howling winds. With another earth shattering roar, they stormed forward, fists colliding in a cataclysmic eruption of force.

The shockwave swept through the stronghold like a storm, ripping buildings from their roots.

Malakai streaked through the chaos like a beam of light. His scythe flashed, blade tearing straight toward the Corrupter's neck.

Its eyes widened, darkness pooling violently around its throat, exploding outward to meet the strike. But the blade carved through the black flood as if it were air.

It was an instant away from severing its neck when a voice ripped through the haze.

"Kill him!"

The Summoner's cry shook the air.

From the haze above, its enormous flying beast burst free, jaws wide, teeth bared to swallow Malakai whole.

But he didn't move.

A massive fist erupted upward from below, green light trailing its arc. It slammed into the beast's stomach with force, folding its body in half.

Air blasted out from the impact as the creature was hurled skyward, screeching, smashing through the clouds.

The Corrupter's eyes exploded wide, just in time for Malakai's scythe to rip clean through its neck.

As its body plummeted, Malakai swept his scythe to the side, cold eyes narrowing on the Summoner.

In that instant, the Summoner felt as though a blade rested on its throat.
