Evolution begins with an ant colony

Chapter 130: • Betrayal Benith The Moonlight [Edited]

In the heart of the god forsaken forest, nestled within the ant tribe's domain, Akun sat on top the castle's rooftop, He stared at the moon. Its silvary light lit up the forest, making long shadows benith the trees. In the silence, he thought deeply about things. Stay connected through empire

"Honestly," he thought, "how long has it been since I've had some real fun?" As the moonlight bathed his body, Akun's thoughts drifted back to an important day etched into his memory. "Ever since that day when the anthill was completely destroyed," he whispered to himself, his fingers clenching, "I can't bear to leave my people alone.

I wouldn't forgive myself if something bad happened to them while I was away."

He vividly remembered the struggles of the anthill, which showed both despair and resilience. That day's challenges had made Akun even more determined, and he had stayed watchful, guarding his kin.

Even though Akun was focused on his duty, he couldn't stop himself from thinking more deeply. "Even now, I can't help but hope that everything is going well for Oliver." His eyes looked around the vast forest before him, searching for any signs of disturbance.

"Hopefully, he hasn't drawn any unwanted attention to himself." He felt worried about Oliver's safety, knowing that the forest held both amazing things and dangers hidden by the moon's light.

Meanwhile, In the shadowy underbrush of the dryad tribe, Oliver's keen eyes remained locked on the guards, his eyebrows furrowing deeper with each passing moment. As he observed their odd behavior, his fingers unconsciously tightened into fists, reflecting his growing unease.

His gaze narrowed, and he couldn't help but voice his thoughts softly. "Damm, what's up with those guards?" He whispered to himself, sounding confused as he carefully observed their strange behavior.

He started feeling uneasy as he kept watching them closely. He tilted his head slightly and couldn't help but wonder, "Are they dolls?" He murmured the words, filled with disbelief, unsure if what he was seeing was real.

His original plan began to fall apart because of uncertainty. He tapped his fingers lightly on his thigh while he thought about other options. "I was originally planning on just passing through the castle entrance like a boss... I mean like one of the servants or something," He acknowledged to himself, his body language changing as he adjusted his plan.

His confidence turned into deep thought as he looked at the large tree castle ahead.

"But if I have to pass those guys," he muttered, his lips forming a thin line as he thought futher. "well.. I don't know."

Oliver looked at the huge tree building, and he started to feel a bit excited. "I think I'm better off taking my chances with climbing the Damm tree castle."

"Hopefully, I can find a way in through one of the windows."

"Okay, Guess I gotta get climbing," he decided with a faint smile, his hand instinctively tightening around the straps of his equipment. "Just standing here, staring at those guards, won't do me any good."

After their intense fight, Ken ended up on his knees, a shocked expression on his fac. Blood dripped from both sides of his mouth, staining the ground. He muttered to himself, barely audible over the lingering sounds of battle. "How did this happen?"

Mina, still influenced by John, walked calmly towards Ken. Her steps were steady, and her eyes narrowed as she gazed at him seriously. She spoke confidently, her words filling the quietness of the battlefield after their fight. "Give up, Ken," she said, her voice firm. "You've depleted your mana, your army is sealed within a box, and you have multiple deep wounds. Face it, it's over."

Ken, despite the dire circumstances, couldn't help but let out a chuckle. A sly grin appearing upon his lips as he snapped back, "Or is it?"

Suddenly, from the very earth beneath them, skeletal hands erupted with a sudden burst of force, shooting upwards, fingers outstretched, and seized Mina by her legs. The grip was firm and didn't show any signs of loosening. The hands had held her in place, so ken would be able to turn the tables of this battle.

Mina, feeling the skeletal hands tightening their grips around her leg, managed to stayed composed, her expression firm and resolute. She spoke, in a calm commanding tone, "Give it up, Ken. It's pointless."

Ken, not wanting to give up, defied his injuries to rise to his feet. He directed his words at Mina with an arrogant tone, "You're forgetting something, Mina, or should I say... John."

Ken saying his name sent John's thoughts into a whirlwind. His inner turmoil and confusion were clearly displayed on his face as he thought in silence, "Wait, he called out my name. Does he know I'm controlling Mina? Does he know about my skill? Impossible. I was always alone when I tested it, and I never shared it with anyone, so...

how does he know?"

The battlefield, once filled with chaos, suddenly fell into a bone chilling silence, an aura of suspense settling over the combatants.

Breaking this silence with a victorious laugh, Ken's voice echoed across the battlefield. He taunted John, his demeanor was confident seeing that he had revealed to John he was aware of the existence of his skill. "Seeing that you went silent, I must have hit the nail on the head, right, John?"

Mina, under John's influence, met Ken's waord with a defiant glare. Her response, was calm and filled with conviction, as it rang through the battlefield. "So, you found out. Big deal. It's not like you can do anything in your current state." Her voice brimmed with self-assuredness as the dynamics of the battle took an unforeseen turn.

Ken's taunting chuckle echowed through the battlefield. He took a step forward, locking eyes with John. "Come on, John," his voice rumbled, a sly smile curling his lips.

"I thought you were the smart one, but seeing that you still haven't noticed, it seems I have to explain." His hand made sweeping gestures in the air as he continued, "You see, although I met you, Chris, and Mina in this village, you three were never my true targets."

Mina, still remaining confident despite the fact she appeard to be in a disadvantageous situation, "Of course, I knew. You were here to slaughter the villagers."

Ken leaned closer, his words filled with sinister intent. He raised an index finger, emphasizing a point. "Well, that's only half right," he whispered. "The other reason is a secret, but since you'll be dying soon, I guess I can share it with you."

Mina's face frowned with confusion under John's influence as she asked, "What do you mean I'll be dying soon?"

Before Ken could respond, a swift and unexpected burst of motion occoured. A sword, wielded by an unseen hand, impaled John through the chest from behind. He gasped, his body convulsing in pain. His control over Mina suddenly wavered and dissolved.

Mina, now free from John's influence, staggered to her knees. Her hands trembled as she clutched her throbbing head. She winced in agony, confusion etched across her features. "My head hurts like hell... What's going on?"

John, clutching his chest wound and suprised by the sudden unexpected attack, turned around to find out who was responsible. As hie eyes landed on Chris they widned and he felt a sudden sense of betrayal, his voice filled with shock. "Chris? Why did you do this?" The battlefield was plunged into a tense and uncertain silence, the aftermath of the unexpected act of violence.

Chris maintained his enigmatic smile, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous glint as he leaned in slightly, adding an air of suspense. His voice was lighthearted and cryptic, like a riddle yet to be unraveled. "Oh, John, a man's got to do what a man's got to do." The words hung in the air, leaving John to grapple with the mystery behind his friend's actions.

The tension in the moment was mounting, as if the world itself held its breath, waiting for the truth to be revealed.

John's anger flared, and he struggled to understand the sudden betrayal. His voice quivered with a mix of frustration and pain as he demanded answers. "W-what does that even mean? A-answer me. Why did you stab me in the back?" Each word was strained and came out ragged, the sword lodged in his back piercing through his chest, causing him immense agony.

The atmosphere grew charged with tension as the two friends stood on opposing sides of an unforeseen conflict.
