Chapter 224: Look At The Time
Walking out of the restaurant with full stomachs, Jenna dragged back to his car with an excited expression.
"Come on, I want to buy you a watch." She said as he started up the car.
"Alright, let's head to the mall, we should be able to find a watch there."
"No way, we have a Vacheron Constantin store in flower city. Here, let me put it into the GPS."
"A Vacher-what?" Brax asked.
"Vacheron Constantin. They make really good watches. Come one, let's hurry, I am excited."
"Alright, alright, the map says we will be there in ten minutes."
Brax parked his car outside of the store and walked up the front door with Jenna. He opened it to let her in and followed behind. He quickly went up to the second door and tried to open in for her but found the door didn't budge.
"Just wait a moment." She whispered to him.
Brax looked inside to see the salesman behind the counter give them a once over, checking them out. After he was doon, he pressed a button on the side of the counter and the second door unlocked allowing them to enter.
"Hello, my name is Kyle. I will be helping you today." The salesman said. "Is there anything I can help you find?"
Before Brax could answer, Jenna spoke first.
"I want to buy a watch for my husband." Jenna said while wrapping her arm around Brax's. "I would like to see what is new."
"That is no problem at all. Please come to this way." The salesman said while he led them to a different counter. "Everything in this case has been released in the last two years. If something catches your eye, I would be glad to take it out for you."
Brax knew nothing about watches except for how to read them so he really couldn't understand why some of the ugly ones were more expensive than the ones he thought looked good.
There was only two in the case he thought might be able to suit him. He was about to ask the man to take them out when Jenna spoke again.
"Is this really the best you have? Nothing strikes me."
"I am sorry to hear that miss, but these are our latest releases, perhaps you would prefer one of our older styles."
"I don't want any of the older styles, those are the kind my father wears. Are these really all the new styles? Cost isn't an issue."
Kyle the salesman smirked. "Well… If you aren't concerned with cost. Our location was able to get our hands on one of this years limited edition's. Would you like to take a look?"
"Yes, let us do that." Jenna said.
"Alright, please accompany me to the VIP viewing room and I will retrieve the watch. But I must warn you that if you are looking for style similar to our newer series, you will be disappointed. This time piece is more subdued and refined and doesn't have any flash or show."
Jenna smiled. "That sounds perfect. My husband prefers to be lowkey." She said as she sat on a couch in the viewing room with Brax beside her.
Kyle turned and smiled and then nodded to Brax before walking back into the storage area.
Brax flashed a smile towards his wife. "Lowkey? I think you mean that you just don't want to let me talk." He said with a chuckle.
"Don't be an ass." She said while sliding closer to him so he could easily put his arm around her waist.
*Tsk*
Brax clicked his tongue but didn't respond.
"Hey, don't be embarrassed. Where is your snappy comeback?"
Brax had to admit that Jenna really did know him well. He was feeling embarrassed. Not because she took charge when they came, he really didn't know anything about watches so it was much less stressful since she was running the show.
*Sigh*
"I just feel bad. You are planning on getting me a nice watch but I have never given you a real gift before."
Jenna looked at him with a frown.
"What are you talking about? You gave me a whole city."
Brax turned away from her and scratched the back of his head.
"Ah, yeah… I forgot about that."
"Hey you bum. You didn't think that was a gift and you were just pushing off oyur extra work onto me."
"He, he, he." Brax didn't say anything but only chuckled.
Jenna reached for his waist and started pinching him.
"Ah, I am sorry. I am sorry. I will take back the city."
"No way Destol is mine. But you have to get me a gift now to make up for tricking me."
"Yes, yes. Whatever my wife says is right."
Jenna was relentless with her pinches but thankfuly she stopped when Kyle returned.
The salesman set a small box on the center of the table in front of Jenna and Brax and motioned them to open it up while he began to talk about it.
"This is the Patrimony perpetual calendar Ultra-thin collection excellence platine. Only a hundred were made and they can be identified by the number on the back. This one is number 42. The case, dial, clasp and even the stitching on the leather band are made from platinum. It is truly an excellent piece. Please, try it on."
Jenna picked up the watch and motioned for Brax to stick out his left arm. He did so and she quickly tightened that watch around his wrist.
"Ahh, it looks great. It goes perfect with your suit." Jenna said. "What do you think?"
"I think it looks good." Brax said after giving his arm a wiggle and seeing how it felt.
"Perfect. We will take it."
"Wonderful. The price of the watch is $125,000.00, with the tax the total comes to $134,562.00. Included is our five-year protection and warranty plan. Also, if you ever need any maintenance preformed on your time piece, any Vacheron Constantin store will be able to take care of that for you free of charge."
"Great." Jenna said while pulling her black card out from her purse and swiping it without an ounce of hesitation. All the while Brax was struggling to pick up his jaw off the ground after hearing the price of the watch.
He could understand that fancy cars and big houses had ridiculous price tags. But that watch could only be used to tell the time. And it wasn't like he would go somewhere without his phone.
The salesman must have notice Brax's shock because he chose to add one more thing before the couple left.
"And sir, don't forget that our time pieces are known to appreciate in valve. Especially our limited-edition models. Ten years from now you may be able to sell that piece for twice the price."
Brax only nodded and followed Jenna out of the store.
"So you really like it?" Jenna asked while hooking her arm through his.
"Yes, I like it very much. Oh."
"What is it?"
Brax made and exaggerated motion of lifting his arm and glancing at the watch.
"Look at the time, I need to head towards my meeting with your dad."
