EVIL SYSTEM

Chapter 8: news

What Ben thought would be a difficult step in his plan turned out to be very easy in reality.

Entering his house, he found his mother chatting with the neighbor next door amidst laughter. Since his sisters, one was at school and the other was who knows where with Charly.

Ben was able to crush the pills, but he found several diet drinks in the fridge. He couldn't identify which one was whose, so shrugging his shoulders indifferently, he mixed it in all the drinks.

The more defenseless women, the better!

Smiling seemed to be his thing these days.

Ben didn't want to join his family for dinner, since the day before he had made the decision not to think of them as family. But his father knocked on his door forcefully and practically forced him to attend.

That was strange!

Normally, everyone seemed to want to pretend he didn't exist.

They all dined at dinner, but not the same. Ben simply had on his plate what were obviously leftovers.

Burnt rice, bones with a little meat, and what looked like beans but of a strange color. While the others at the table toasted with wine or, in the case of the girls, freshxx, which would be the Coca-Cola of this world.

Ben just drank a glass of water. He didn't touch the food, although in the past he had to settle for this. Now he could buy himself a decent meal with the stolen money.

Dinner was surprisingly pleasant, and all of that was due to the fact that his father was in a strange mood today. He smiled and asked about everyone's day except Ben's.

His mother, on the other hand, looked at him very ugly.

"Did you know that the neighbor's son has already reached the level of elemental mage?" Her mood was not good as she made comparisons between the neighbor's son and her own son.

"Really?" Stefany was surprised. "Now that I think about it, he's kind of handsome."

Ben's eyebrows furrowed a little when he heard this.

"If I remember correctly, the boy is even younger than Ben, right?" Susan asked as she looked at him with obvious ill intentions.

His parents' faces turned gloomy, and they looked at him with resentment and disappointment.

Ben didn't care much; he was simply watching as his mother, Mary, his younger sister, Stefany, and Susan drank the diet drinks he had tampered with for a long swig.

A smile immediately formed on his face.

"By the way, I have some news to share with you." His father's bad mood seemed to disappear instantly when a big smile adorned his face.

"Is it good news?" His mother asked with a frown.

"Yes!" James nodded with evident excitement.

"Were you promoted at work?" Stefany guessed, joining the conversation.

"No, that old Henry would never do something like that. He'd first give the promotion to his stupid nephew."

"We won the lottery." Susan said disinterestedly as she poked at her salad.

"Yes! Well, something like that." Her father replied excitedly.

The rest of the family's eyes widened with disbelief and excitement.

Everyone except Ben, even if this family owned the entire city, the only thing he could be sure of was that he wouldn't even get the leftovers.

He resented the fact that such vile people had so much luck.

As he said before, the bad guys always did well.

"Really?! What lottery did we win?" Mary asked, visibly excited.

"It's not a lottery." James shook his head and made a gesture with his hands. "I said it's something like that."

"Then what is it?!" Stefany screamed, unable to contain herself.

James enjoyed the expectation he was generating, and when he saw that everyone was very eager to know, he said the magic words.

"My father has died."

The room fell silent for a few brief seconds before each person could assimilate the words.

"Yesssss!!!!" Susan screamed with joy as she clenched her fist in excitement.

Stefany didn't know what to do with the emotion and walked back and forth with a big smile on her face.

His mother began to cry, but contrary to what Ben would have wished, they were tears of emotion and something else repressed.

The only one who took the news badly was Ben himself. His gaze was blank, and he couldn't understand what he was seeing.

How could these people be so happy at the news of someone's death.

In reality, he could understand their reasons, what he couldn't do was understand them.

As Ben felt like he had been punched in the stomach and a strong feeling of sinking, these people celebrated out loud.

His grandfather was not a bad person, much less to provoke this reaction. In fact, the man had given them the house they lived in and even gave them a monthly allowance to cover the expenses that James' job couldn't.

That was the problem in reality.

His grandfather Ruperd Clay was an advanced rank mage who throughout his life had amassed a considerable fortune.

A fortune that now, with his death, was the property of his descendants... his father and siblings.

Was money really a good enough reason to celebrate the death of a good person in a rotten world?

Ben looked with complete disgust at the 4 people at the table and got up to go to his room.

The actions of these people today only reinforced his belief in having no mercy or moral codes towards them.

They didn't deserve it!

The three women had ingested the sleeping pills. Although they didn't drink all the beverage since, with the emotion, they spilled the rest.

He had to be especially careful with his father, but the rest Ben began to prepare.

He had 308 evil points left over.

With a quick search through the store, he found a basic ability to open locks for 150 evil points and bought it.

He didn't want to go to the rooms and find them locked and lose all his preparation.

The information about the ability slowly assimilated into his head, and with a practiced move, he began to manipulate some lock picks he found in his room.

In less than 15 seconds, he opened the lock on his own room.

All set, the pleasant night plan begins.
