Chapter 60: police
**León removed debris after debris until he came across a terrifying scene.**
Three burned and mutilated bodies lay in what appeared to be a single room.
"No doubt about it," León nodded and looked at the completely burned house. "This is his modus operandi."
First, it was the Bergil mansion, and now it was this house in the middle of the forest.
León clenched his fists as he thought about the path of destruction Ben was creating.
"I told you I'd find you," León got into his car and sped off in search of the highway. "And I will."
He accelerated his car into the dark woods, unaware of the presence watching him.

**Ben fulfilled his part of the deal and took his money.**
In addition, he returned the mask Hubert had lent him.
Unfortunately, they couldn't find Hubert's daughter.
There were two possibilities: either she was dead, or she had been sold.
Sadly, Ben killed everyone and couldn't verify which of the two options was correct.
From the start of the massacre to its end, not even an hour had passed.
Ben returned to the fraternity group before 6 a.m.
They had already changed the tire and returned with their companion after giving him first aid at the hospital.
The boy just needed rest and some painkillers.
They all left as soon as they could; they didn't want to stay in that place.
The atmosphere in the minivan was strange, to say the least. Ryuji and Dante looked at him with admiration, while Ben avoided direct eye contact with Judy and Shen Huiliang.
Unbeknownst to Ben, shortly after their departure from Azakur City, chaos erupted.
A large number of police patrols surrounded the bar of the Sons of Hell.
Crowds gathered around the police tape, curious.
The police tried to keep people away from the crime scene.
Many asked why and what had happened, but all the officers had been ordered not to leak any information.
"This is madness," an old police officer with a mustache covered his nose with a handkerchief as he observed the pile of mutilated bodies.
Several of the younger officers couldn't help but vomit at the sight.
"Any progress?" asked the mustached officer.
"We've found some witnesses, sir," a police officer reported with a frown. "However, they're not much help."
The officer raised an eyebrow and signaled for the policeman to continue.
"They're all scared to death and keep saying they passed the test."
"Test?" asked the officer.
"Yes, a test," the policeman nodded and pulled out a notebook from his pocket, reading verbatim. "He tested all of us. Those who didn't pass were killed; those who did, survived."
"He?"
"Yes," the policeman nodded uncertainly. "According to their testimonies, the person responsible for this carnage is a single man."
"An advanced mage?" asked the officer.
"We're not sure," the policeman shook his head.
"Do we have the identity of the perpetrator?"
"No, sir," the policeman shook his head. "The killer wore a demonic mask, so no one could see his true face."
The policeman hesitated before continuing.
"The witnesses are calling him: the Butcher."
"Sir!! Sir!!" a policeman came running, very agitated.
"Sir, we've discovered a hidden camera system," the policeman seemed very excited. "That son of a bitch Enzo was secretly recording his clients to blackmail them later."
"Perfect!" the mustached officer smiled.
The higher-ranking police officers entered Enzo's office and connected a laptop to the surveillance system.
There were seven policemen in the room: the guy in charge of the computer and six officers of different ranks, ranging from captains to colonels.
Slowly, the guy found the exact moment of Ben's arrival at the Sons of Hell.
"Who is that man?" asked a policeman, pointing at Hubert.
"We don't know," one of them shook his head.
"Investigate him," ordered the mustached officer.
The other policemen nodded and continued watching the video playing on the computer.
The scene began with Ben slamming the bouncer against the wall.
They followed Ben and Hubert's path until they entered the first room.
"Switch cameras."
The policeman nodded and switched cameras. The faces of all the officers in the room changed when they saw a fat man on top of a young girl.
"Isn't that the mayor's secretary?"
Some of the officers looked away, seeing what the mayor's secretary was doing to a girl not much older than their own daughters.
The footage advanced until Ben entered the room and sent the fat man flying with a slap.
Some of them couldn't help but cheer internally at the sight. The security system also had audio, so all the officers clearly heard Suzanne's story.
"Son of a bitch!!"
"Find that idiot; with this video, we can lock him up for a long time."
The voices suddenly fell silent when Ben's figure blurred and reappeared holding the fat man against the wall.
Everyone's faces twisted in disgust as they watched Ben rip off the man's genitals and force him to eat them.
"Damn!!"
Blow after blow, the officers began to take on a more serious tone.
"So, the headless body in the first room..."
The mustached officer stared intently at the screen. Ben hadn't shown any magic, yet he possessed monstrous strength—enough to rival an advanced mage.
"Is he really an advanced mage?"
As an intermediate mage, the officer felt a bit intimidated at the thought of investigating such a cruel advanced mage.
The scene continued as Ben left the room and stood in the middle of the main hall.
In the video, everyone suddenly turned their heads to look at the man in the center of the hall.
The video couldn't capture the magic, but after a certain amount of magic, a gray aura became clearly visible to everyone.
"What element is that?" asked a policeman.
"I've never seen that magical aura before."
Everyone froze when they heard Ben's declaration.
[None of you will leave here alive today!]
The battle that followed made all the officers in the room widen their eyes in horror and shock.
Ben's indifference to life, his cruelty, strength, speed, reflexes, and that strange magic that seemed to prevent the use of magic in his presence.
The scene of Enzo's death was especially cruel and hard to watch for many.
The officers fell silent as they watched all the survivors of the massacre kneel before the demon.
Sitting atop the pile of corpses, Ben ordered everyone to use their magic.
Those who only suffered a slight headache were spared, but those who bled from their faces were brutally killed.
The video ended after that, but not a single officer spoke for a long time.
The policemen were shocked but also intimidated. In a world where strength was law, it wasn't uncommon for officers to die after messing with the wrong people.
The Butcher of Azakur had shown them just how cruel he could be.
None of them wanted to face the wrath of such a being.
"Delete all the videos and close the case," ordered the mustached officer.
No one objected.
"What do we tell the media, sir?" asked one.
"Just tell them it was a gang fight."
"Yes, sir."

Unbeknownst to them, the video of the Butcher of Azakur was already spreading across the internet.
The carnage caught the attention of the morbidly curious and slowly began to gain traction among the general public.
The nickname "Butcher of Azakur" began to gain notoriety.
Many were horrified, but a small group of crazies began to admire the Butcher of Azakur.
The city of Azakur was the most affected by this news. Local and national news channels were flooded with images of the city's first serial killer.
[Who is the Butcher of Azakur?]

[Mayor Speaks Out on the Controversy Surrounding His Assistant]
But while the news painted him as a villain and a cruel murderer, for many families affected by the Sons of Hell, the Butcher was a misunderstood vigilante.
Like that woman and her daughter at the roadside stand who no longer had to fear retaliation from the Sons of Hell.
Just like her, there were countless families in Azakur who applauded the Butcher's actions, and some even cried tears of joy at seeing their long-awaited revenge carried out in a way as brutal and cruel as they had imagined in their minds.
Though the news portrayed him as a villain and a cruel killer, for many of the families affected by the Sons of Hell, the Butcher was a misunderstood hero.
Someone who, in just one hour, had accomplished what neither the police, politicians, nor authorities had been able to do all this time.
To completely eradicate one of society's cancers. An organization that had caused immense harm to Azakur but had remained standing thanks to its strong connections and bribes.
So, no matter how much they vilified him, for them, the Butcher of Azakur was not a villain.
