EVIL SYSTEM

Chapter 36: freedom

Ben almost cried with joy upon seeing the sinister system return. The evil points began to disappear at a rapid pace.

[Evil Points -1,600]

[Evil Points -3,200]

[Evil Points -6,400]

Ben paid no attention to the fact that this was possibly the largest amount of points he had ever spent.

He simply felt that with every point invested in his physique, he regained more strength.

[Evil Points -12,800]

[Evil Points -25,600]

Slowly, his consciousness returned, bringing reason back with it.

[Evil Points -51,200]

[Evil Points -102,400]

[Evil Points -204,800]

When he felt relatively better, he stopped investing points, realizing the bottomless pit his physique had become.

He had spent almost 300,000 points just to increase his physique by a mere 11 points.

How did I get 300,000 points?

Ben checked his status.

[Status]

Benjamin Clay

Age: 16

Physique: 40

Magic: 30

Affinities:

Lightning: Mid-elemental level

Curse: Basic elemental level

Spells: None

Evil Points: 93,820

His eyes widened in disbelief at the vast number of points still in his system, even after wasting so many to enhance his physique.

But he quickly recomposed himself and eagerly began to invest his points again.

He was not yet out of danger.

[Evil Points -3]

[Evil Points -6]

[Evil Points -12]

[Evil Points -24]

Ben kept pouring points into his lightning magic until he felt a great power filling his body.

[Evil Points -3,069]

Thunder and lightning roared in the sky.

"What's going on?" Rudolf furrowed his brows, sensing a massive surge of magic emanating from Ben's body.

"Shit!" Grigor turned and ran with the same urgency he had arrived.

Rudolf watched curiously as Ivan, Ethan, and Grigor fled in panic, unable to understand why.

"Why are they so scared? It's just a dying man," Rudolf said, pointing at Ben.

But his eyes widened when he saw that Ben was no longer in the air, impaled by his stone spear.

Ben now sat beside the massive stone spear that had pierced him. Part of the spear still protruded from his chest—he hadn't removed it, fearing he might bleed out more than he already had.

In the dark forest, he sat with his head down, his fingers moving erratically.

With a piece of the spear still sticking out of his chest and blood covering his body, the sight was deeply unsettling to Rudolf.

Gathering his magic, Rudolf prepared for any movement from Ben.

But Ben didn't move, continuing to twitch his fingers through the air in an unnerving manner. He seemed completely insane.

Ben had already reached the peak elemental level with his lightning element, but that wasn't enough for him. He kept investing points, not only into his lightning element but also into his curse element.

[Evil Points -4]

[Evil Points -8]

[Evil Points -16]

[Evil Points -32]

The strength and energy within him were at their peak. Despite his injuries and the spear in his chest, Ben felt fully capable.

Everything was going well until he received a message:

[Error in point allocation.]

[To advance to the intermediate level, you must have a recorded spell.]

Ben quickly searched for the spells he had planned for both elements and purchased them simultaneously.

[Evil Points -25,000]

[Lightning Field purchased]

[Cursed Space purchased]

The system seemed to handle the process of engraving the spells into Ben's consciousness on its own, so he didn't need to focus on it.

But Ben found himself in a trance, staring blankly into space.

His mind was suddenly overwhelmed with a flood of information—details about his abilities, their effects, and their powers.

Crash!

The sky roared with lightning, heralding a storm.

Small tendrils of lightning struck Ben's body, but he ignored them as if the deadly charge didn't exist.

His hair stood on end, defying gravity.

Ben raised his head, and Rudolf saw his eye sockets were an unnatural gray, with sparks of electricity flashing within them.

Rudolf swallowed hard and began circulating his magic.

Like his comrades, he felt an inexplicable, irrational fear creeping over him.

As a precaution, he formed a stone spear and hurled it at Ben.

With a quick sidestep, Ben easily dodged the spear.

"Don't rush," Ben muttered, ignoring the spear as it embedded itself in a tree.

Clenching his teeth to suppress a groan of pain, he gripped the axe with his one good hand and yanked it free without hesitation.

Urghhh!

His face contorted in agony as his blood painted the ground. Taking deep breaths, he turned his gaze toward Rudolf.

"This still hurts," he said, pointing to the spear still lodged in his chest. "And I'll make you pay for it."

Ben pointed the axe at Rudolf as thick currents of electricity coursed over him.

"Really?" Rudolf sneered. "Look at yourself in a mirror and tell me you're in any shape to threaten anyone."

"As long as I'm alive…" Ben grinned predatorily. "I'm a threat!"

Rudolf gritted his teeth and attacked without another word.

[Stone Spear]

This time, it wasn't just one spear flying toward Ben.

At least ten spears hurtled his way.

To Ben's eyes, the spears seemed to move in slow motion. He moved away from the densest cluster and deflected three spears with his axe with relative ease.

"This is easier than I thought," Ben said, swinging the axe up and down so fast it became a blur. "This is more than four times stronger and faster than a normal human."

He crouched slightly and launched himself toward Rudolf.

In the blink of an eye, Ben appeared in front of Rudolf, his axe raised.

A cold sweat ran down Rudolf's back as he desperately raised a stone wall to defend himself.

Boom!

The wall shattered easily but gave Rudolf a precious second to retreat and avoid Ben's axe.

Ben stared at the results of his own attack in surprise.

"I guess it's unnecessary," Ben said, flexing his fists. The wound on his hand had stopped bleeding. "But I still want to do it."

He allocated the final points he needed...

[Evil Points -20,000]

[Lightning Element: Intermediate Rank]

A bolt of lightning struck from the sky, hitting Ben directly.
