Chapter 34: Battle magic

"This guy is crazy!" Iván was lying on the ground many meters away from Ben, watching him intently.

He watched as Ben shot arrow after arrow even though Emily had died a long time ago. By this point, his body already looked like a porcupine.

But the repeated action of taking an arrow, placing it in the bow, and then shooting it never stopped.

The only way Ben stopped was when he ran out of dates.

"Just when I was getting the hang of it!" Ben threw the bow aside.

He approached Emily and performed the same procedure as with the twins, adding one more head to his sinister collection.

He looked at Emily's body for a few seconds and turned to leave.

He walked a few steps but stopped for a moment upon hearing something. Before he could make sense of what he heard, he felt movement behind him and jumped forward.

¡Swishhh!!

Argggg

Although he jumped in time, Ben ended up receiving a long diagonal cut on his back.

The cut was moderately deep but the flesh was clearly visible. The blood soaked his back and Ben couldn't help but squirm and try to touch the wound.

He looked at his attacker and saw him watching him cautiously. He looked very young, with tattoos and piercings on his face.

"Damn!" The boy smiled nervously. "I really hoped to kill you with a single blow."

The katana in his hand trembled slightly.

"This will officially be my first battle to the death." Iván took a long and deep breath. "Normally, I face people weaker than me or in controlled spaces where I know there is no danger."

"But this time I know." Iván pointed the katana at Ben, who raised it with pain. "If I get distracted for just a second, if I don't take you seriously." You won't hesitate to take my life.

"That one is really scary!" The pressure and stress I'm feeling now is unlike anything I've ever experienced before.

Ben ignored his silly chatter and closely observed the boy. He had no armor or vest, and apart from the katana in his hand, he didn't seem to have any other kind of weapon.

Her back burned as if a hot iron were pressed against it. he took a machete in each hand and waited for the boy's first move.

They both stared at each other without making the first move, the tension in the air was palpable.

Ben wasn't the type to wait patiently, so he ran towards the boy with the machetes raised high.

Iván got nervous and raised his katana. But Ben only hit him with one of the machetes, the other machete he directed towards his waist.

Iván got very scared and quickly stepped back, but Ben managed to make a very thin cut on his stomach.

Iván started to sweat cold and gripped the katana tighter.

Ben lunged at him again, and Iván was even more cautious. He took Ben's punches but was always cautious of his next move.

Slowly, he began to understand a pattern and get used to his rhythm.

Blocking both of Ben's cuts, Iván countered with a slash to the lower part of Ben's body.

To his surprise, the cut worked. but the small distraction caused by his unexpected success gave Ben the opportunity to leave a long and deep cut on his right arm.

The cut was so deep that the bone could be clearly seen.

"Shit!!" Iván grabbed his arm with a grimace of pain.

Ben took the opportunity again to pounce.

"Fire Fist!!" Iván raised his left hand in panic and shouted.

A fist made entirely of fire formed in front of his hand and shot off in Ben's direction.

Ben didn't have time to react, and the fiery fist hit him in the face.

Argggggg!!

Ben grabbed his face, which began to burn and form blisters rapidly. The left side of his face began to peel and reveal a horrible sight of a half-melted face.

Iván saw his opportunity in it and cast his second spell, the strongest one.

"Fire tornado!!"

Embers and small sparks formed around Ben, then transformed into a mass of flames that began to rotate around him and contain him within.

The tornado grew smaller and smaller with the intention of burning Ben.

Iván watched with anticipation, but out of nowhere, a figure quickly emerged from the fire. With his katana in his left hand, he prepared himself, carefully watching the figure, but after a second, his eyes widened in horror as he realized that the figure was actually just a severed head wrapped in a shirt.

Iván turned his head to see how a Ben burned from head to toe with blisters all over his body was approaching him with a machete raised high, clearly intending to cut off his head.

His body was oriented to the left and Ben was coming from his right. He had little time to react and didn't believe he could do it with his katana, much less with his non-dominant hand.

He was practically out of magic after casting his two spells in quick succession.

The machete was quickly approaching his neck, and Iván began to see everything in slow motion.

The beats of his heart slowed down, and he felt a chill run through his entire body.

He could feel it with his entire being, death was approaching.

Death was coming for him!!

Just before Ben's machete could cut off Iván's head... A thick spear of earth rose from the ground and pierced Ben's body in mid-air, halting his momentum.

"!!earth spear!!"

Ben lowered his head in shock to see how he was lifted and impaled by a very sharp stone mound. The strength in his hands was slowly leaving him, and he dropped the machete.

His body had already endured too much.

He had endured torture, arrows in the back, deep cuts, third-degree burns, and even had been pierced through.

Ben felt his vision blur.

I no longer had the strength to resist.
