Chapter 32: hunt
Ben limped through the forest with a twisted expression. After a while, he got tired and leaned against a tree.
Unlike the others, he knew that family wasn't going to let them escape even if they ran the 10km.
He felt tired and weak, he was seriously thinking about giving up. But just the thought of giving those people the satisfaction made his blood boil.
I wanted to pay them back in their own coin, to play their sadistic hunting game but as the hunter himself.
Let's see if they still like it as much!
But they were all very strong, I didn't have certainty but I could sense it.
All the adults, of course, the children were no threat.
Footsteps began to arrive along with cries for help, but Ben ignored them.
Screams and sounds of crying reached his ears, but he was not in a condition to help anyone.
Slow and measured footsteps began to approach in his direction. He thought the footsteps would quickly fade away like the previous ones.
But the sounds of footsteps only grew louder, and soon Ben could see the owner of the footsteps.
Grigor!
He emerged from the shadows of the trees with an extremely long knife covered in blood. His clothes were soaked with blood and marrow.
On his back, he carried a crossbow and a rusty axe. On his legs, smaller axes and knives of different sizes.
The guy even had ninja stars and kunais in the area of his abdomen. A samurai sword on the right side of his waist and a smaller one on the left.
Ben had the sudden urge to roll his eyes.
"What are you doing here?" He asked the madman with clear dissatisfaction on his face. "If you simply give up, it's not fun at all; it's the struggle and desperation of the prey that makes the hunt so exciting."
Ben stared at him blankly without any expression.
"Answer!!"
Ben rolled his eyes and with an angry grunt pointed to the gag in his mouth.
"Oh, sorry!" Grigor smiled embarrassed and tossed a small key to Ben.
Ben took the key without taking his eyes off Grigor.
Removing the gag brought him great relief, and he breathed more freely.
"This would be the first conversation we have, right?" Ben ran his tongue over his dry lips and grimaced at the feel of several cuts. "You know, after hours of torture."
I hadn't thought of it that way. but yes, you're right." Grigor nodded his head.
"Do you even know what my name is?" Asked Ben.
"No." Grigor shook his head and shrugged. "Does it matter?" I don't know the names of the three I just killed because yours would be more important.
"We're getting off topic." Grigor pointed it out. "Why don't you run?" You are supposed to be a high-quality prey. There is no thrill in killing someone like that; if it were so, I would have killed you in the torture chamber.
"Hahahahahaha." Ben started laughing uncontrollably and pointed at him like a madman.
"Hey!! What are you laughing so much about?
"You talk as if you like the challenge and the excitement, but the truth is that you are afraid."
"Me afraid?" Grigor asked incredulously. "I think the torture drove you mad."
"Seriously?" Ben tilted his head and, with a small smile on his face, urged him on. "Do you want something big?" A challenge? So stop acting small, put your fears and insecurities aside and..."
Ben raised his hands above his head and with a smile so big it covered his entire face, he said. "Free me from these chains."
Grigor's instinct tingled like crazy at the sight of the smile on Ben's face.
A very familiar smile for him and something I don't expect to see on anyone else, let alone a prey.
The smile I saw every day in the mirror... The smile of a predator.
Ben is chained, badly injured, and he even seemed to have completely given up on the idea of surviving. But that smile made Grigor's body react on its own.
He took the bow from his back, drew an arrow, and shot.
But Ben had already moved and disappeared into the shadows of the trees.
"He must not escape!" Grigor chased him with a bit of panic. For some reason deep within himself, he felt it.
he felt she couldn't let Ben slip away.
I couldn't give him a chance.
He chased Ben for a long time and even managed to hit him with three of his arrows, but this didn't make him stop.
Seeing this only made him more certain of his assumption and he tried not to let it slip away, but after a few minutes, he lost sight of it thanks to Iván, who appeared in his vision and distracted him for a few brief seconds.
...
Ben kept running like a madman with his battered body and bleeding wounds.
It had been a while since I had stopped feeling pain and only felt numbness.
He moved forward simply because that idea was etched in his mind in a moment of complete despair.
His career came to an abrupt halt when he encountered a repugnant scene.
Two boys of about 12 years old were on top of the corpse of a pregnant woman, violating it with looks of ecstasy and madness.
The woman's belly was wide open and a fetus was on the ground with multiple machete wounds.
Clearly, the person who did this, if they could even be called a person, was not right in the head.
The twins were violating the corpse as if that horrible scene were completely normal for them.
Ben slowly approached one of the twins.
The two boys didn't notice anything until they saw a shadow above them.
The less dominant twin lifted his head from his act and found a severely injured person looking at him without any expression.
As if I were looking at an animal!
Before he could say anything, Ben raised his hands and with the same chains that restricted his magic and movements, he began to strangle the deranged boy.
Ben was using all his strength, a strength three times greater than that of a normal adult.
The boy's face quickly turned purple and he tried to use fire magic to melt the chains.
But since these anti-magic chains were completely useless.
The boy's resistance weakened very quickly until he became completely inert.
The other twin looked at the whole scene in horror.
"What's up?" Ben asked. "It seems like you've never seen someone die."
