Evil Organization’s Extra Mr. A

Chapter 322

For three days, I didn’t get to go home even for a single day. Despite the long hours, there was no room to complain.

I knew too well the severity of the situation to say how hard it was.

Spacystro headquarters had entered an emergency state, and all ongoing confrontations around the world were halted.

They collected all videos and information featuring strange lifeforms and continuously demanded necessary data from people who encountered other strange lifeforms in different branches.

The media was hotter than ever. It was much louder compared to the Olympic terrorist attack and embezzlement scandal, with articles based on facts as well as absurd ones appearing.

Many people believed baseless articles without knowing exactly what happened at the scene.

I couldn’t even check if my girlfriends were undergoing examinations at the spaceship’s Science Command. This was the first time we hadn’t been in touch for such a long period after the terrorist incident.

It wasn’t that I was worried about not being able to contact them; I just wanted to hear news about my girlfriends amidst the chaos. However, there was no significant news despite the lack of time to inform me individually.

I hoped nothing bad had happened while searching the internet for clues about the strange lifeforms.

The circulation of information was rapid, and sometimes, stories or photos posted by ordinary citizens were more accurate than mainstream media.

Although I couldn’t ignore the online stories, the frustration piled up every time I scrolled down.

“Why are hyper-humans doing nothing? They were supposed to handle everything this time.”

“Frankly, they’re all useless; when something big happens, they don’t help at all.”

“At this point, isn’t Spacystro defending Earth?”

“So what’s that monster then? Not from Spacystro?”

“Where’s the HunterKiller team? After making a big fuss about the embezzlement scandal, they went into hiding when a major incident occurred, right?”

My frown deepened, unable to find relief. The situation felt terrible.

It’s true that Spacystro made significant contributions in combating strange lifeforms. However, it was only because they had experience and there were no prepared measures against Predators.

After confirming that the strange lifeform wasn’t a Predator during combat, hyper-humans joined the fight, and the support from SpecialForce Team was a great help.

The same scenario likely played out worldwide. Many hyper-humans fought to protect people, but people didn’t see it that way. In the chaotic situation, they needed someone to blame, so they chose the most vulnerable targets—hyper-humans.

Spacystro is the enemy of Earth. They fought the strange lifeforms brought by Dominator because they were common enemies, but despite various circumstances, Spacystro remains an adversary on the surface.

It’s understandable to praise an invader. But it’s disheartening to see people blame their allies while praising the enemy.

I know the Earth Defense Union’s image is poor, but hyper-humans aren’t at fault. While there are still low-quality hyper-humans, many fight for the sake of humanity.

I thought people’s perception towards hyper-humans improved after the embezzlement scandal, but it remained unchanged. It was just a temporary psychological change due to sympathy.

“Hey.”

There must be some useful information here. Maybe a clue about the strange lifeforms. But every time I scrolled, I felt worse.

“Hey!”

“What?”

I jumped at the loud sound beside me and turned my head. Klugger, with messy hair, had his arms crossed.

“Where are you not feeling good? I called you several times. Why didn’t you answer?”

“Sorry. I was a bit distracted. What’s going on?”

“Nothing serious. They said to take a break starting today while on shift. You go first since you’re up.”

“Break?”

I looked at Klugger with a blank expression and then glanced outside the window. The sun had already set, and darkness enveloped the sky. Checking the time, it was almost midnight.

“I’m fine, though.”

“You should go in and rest when told. Otherwise, you’ll ruin your health. You haven’t rested at all since the fight.”

“It’s not just me.”

“Go in. You need to rest in order, so others can too.”

Klugger was right. During busy periods, managing one’s condition is crucial. While I couldn’t afford to relax, thankfully, no strange lifeforms appeared in the past three days.

The fatigue from intense battles still lingered, and the team leaders seemed to be trying to give each person a chance to rest.

“…Okay.”

I stopped arguing. There must be a clear reason for having me rest first. After sighing, I grabbed my nearly dead smartphone.

“Go in.”

I gestured to acknowledge Kruger’s farewell and left the headquarters. Since it was late, taking a taxi was the only option.

Walking out from the remote headquarters, I found a line of taxis and got into the front one, heading home.

If not for this incident, I would probably still be on the spaceship. With conflicts halted and no immediate tasks, it would be better to keep me and the HunterKiller team together, especially since the girls on the spaceship had no one they could trust.

They planned to bring the girlfriends to the spaceship, which is why they imposed a conflict ban.

This major event involving hyper-humans kept bringing the girlfriends to mind.

Stepping out of the taxi, I rode the elevator in a daze and returned home after a long absence.

When I opened the door and walked through the hallway into the living room, the dark, empty interior greeted me.

It’s hard to believe that just a few days ago, I was bustling with my girlfriends.

“Haa…”

I lay down on the sofa without even taking off my coat, staring at the dark ceiling without a single thought.

I had no thoughts. I just wished the problems in front of me would be resolved as quickly as possible. I hoped for peace soon, with Dominator gone and a peaceful routine returning.

I wished the girlfriends’ examinations would finish quickly and they would come back home.

“Huh?”

As I lay there, my smartphone screen lit up. I thought maybe a message from the girlfriends, but instead, an unknown number appeared on the screen.

“Hello. This is A from Team 3 of the Seoul Headquarters. Are you the right person?”

“Yes, I am.”

“This is the Military Security Department of Spacystro. Could you come downstairs to the underground level right now if you’re at home?”

Now I understood the reason for being dismissed under the pretense of rest.

“Understood.”

The person I met in the underground parking lot was the military security officer I had seen a few days ago. I greeted him with a slight bow and got into the car without hesitation.

On the way, he briefly explained that higher-ups had called, wanting me to return to the ship from Seoul.

Team leaders had already been informed to dismiss me before I arrived at the headquarters.

Although they could have taken me directly from the headquarters, many soldiers there didn’t know my situation. Most believed only team leaders had gone to the ship, and details about me weren’t shared with the soldiers due to my deep involvement with Team HunterKiller.

The method was the same as before. We took a car to the airport and flew.

Though the flight was short, it was a perfect time to rest.

Worried about the girlfriends, I decided to get some rest first, thinking it would ease their concerns. As soon as I boarded the plane, I closed my eyes.

Spacystro 6th Fleet 1st Ship Science Command.

One of the most important facilities within the Spacystro ship, located near a nuclear fusion power plant.

I walked through the clean, gray-walled corridor with bright lights to the research lab I was directed to.

“Welcome.”

“Greetings.”

Entering the research lab, I saluted the Science Command General, but he waved me off and started walking, gesturing for me to follow.

“Is your arm injured from fighting? Would an activation device help?”

“I’m fine. My arm isn’t missing, and the bone isn’t protruding. It will heal soon.”

During combat, my left arm was broken. Although it was fractured, it wasn’t in two pieces; it was heavily damaged. I quickly checked its condition and kept it stable, not removing the cast.

Since the injured person didn’t seem concerned, the Science Command General didn’t ask further about the injury.

“I heard you know a lot about technology. Is that right?”

“Are you asking about my girlfriends… the HunterKiller team?”

“Yes. Since I don’t care much, it’s fine to call them girlfriends.”

“Understood. I know some technical things, but I only know the basics in biotechnology.”

“That’s enough. If I explain, you’ll understand.”

I couldn’t guess what he meant. Looking around for the girlfriends, I didn’t see them.

“You don’t need to look for them. They’re going to the HunterKiller team.”

“Oh, sorry.”

I apologized for my oversight in front of a high-ranking officer, but the General didn’t seem to mind and got into the elevator. The elevator took us underground.

“If we’re on the sixth basement floor, isn’t that where the biroid facility is?”

“You know it well?”

“Yes. I once handled bio-roid education and came here once.”

I remembered visiting when Luche was still Ati, for her health checkup. I only visited one place: the bio-roid facility on the sixth basement floor.

“The examinations for the HunterKiller team began early. They started right after eliminating the unconfirmed Predator-type creature, and now everyone is inside the chambers.”

Chamber. A type of test tube used for examining or experimenting on living organisms.

“Already… So are they all sleeping?”

“Yes. Right now, we’re only checking their status, so there’s no need to worry too much.”

“Thank you for your concern.”

The elevator doors opened on the sixth basement floor, and the General led the way with long strides.

“You know the situation is urgent, so it’s not the right time for me to do the examination. But I think it was a good decision to start.”

“What do you mean?”

“It’s complicated. I’ll explain inside the examination room.”

I couldn’t tell if it was good or bad. The unease didn’t fade as I followed him, walking quickly. Finally, the examination room door opened, and I could see the girlfriends through the glass.

All of them were wearing examination suits inside liquid-filled chambers, asleep with their eyes closed. Just seeing them made the unease subside slightly.

“You have amazing girlfriends. It’s scary to enter the chamber, but none of them hesitated and agreed to go in.”

“Really?”

I recalled the previous experiments. Seeing the girlfriends confidently face the tests made me smile proudly.

“Now, let’s talk about something heavy. Are you ready?”

“I’ve been preparing since I left home by car.”

I thought about the strange lifeform and Dominator that appeared, along with the fallen Dunamis.

Everything was related to hyper-humans, so I was prepared for unexpected news.

“Let’s start with this.”

The General handed me a tablet. I examined the displayed data thoroughly and frowned every time I read the content. It wasn’t that I was upset or had found any issues.

It was completely incomprehensible.

“What is this?”

“What does it look like to you?”

“It seems like DNA analysis data… but does such a DNA structure exist in a lifeform?”

I flinched as I asked. The data I saw was an analysis of a lifeform’s DNA.

But it was entirely different from the standard analysis charts I knew. Instead of analyzing one person’s DNA, it seemed to mix multiple people’s DNA haphazardly and claim it matched.

“Every lifeform has its own DNA. The DNA you possess is unique to you, and it proves who you are.”

Following his gaze, I looked at the girlfriends inside the chamber through the glass.

“Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink from the HunterKiller team. None of them are present in there.”

It was hard to understand. Even the General seemed to realize the statement was absurd, frowning deeply.

“In simple terms, none of your girlfriends have their original DNA intact.”

The DNA analysis chart in my hand was clearly from the girlfriends.

“How did this happen?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know what experiments the Earthlings conducted. But among the records from the team leaders in Seoul and the data you brought from the transmission base, there’s evidence suggesting that the foundation of hyper-humans was established using Predators.”

It was a fragment of the shocking record I had seen before. The impact of that record was so strong that the moment I first saw it still vividly remained.

“Seeing you’re not surprised, you must have guessed something. Based on my current hypothesis, they mixed incredibly strong DNA and forcibly held them together using the Predator’s regenerative ability. That’s the only explanation we have for now.”
