Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Guest...
Outside the school.
Koneko walked alongside Hikaru.
"Hikaru, do you not like the President?"
Out of nowhere, the girl blurted out this question.
"There are many kinds of 'like.' Which one are you referring to?"
Hikaru countered.
"Just ordinary liking—whether you have a good impression of someone or a bad one. The President doesn't have any ill intentions; she's just... not very mature. But she will become an excellent high-class devil and head of her family in the future."
After hearing this, Hikaru suddenly reached out and patted Koneko's head.
"The word 'mature' doesn't quite suit you, Koneko."
"I know. But the President works hard. I just hope you don't dislike her."
"Okay, I can agree to that. But have you been playing too much Cyberpunk 2077? Who did you learn this from?"
Hikaru had found the source of the issue.
Normally, Koneko wasn't this talkative.
Hearing that, Koneko went silent—clearly, Hikaru had hit the mark.
As an experienced gamer, it was common to unconsciously mimic the behaviors of characters from a recently completed game. Usually, this phase took about a week to wear off. After all, reality and games were different.
"By the way, did you know it has a spin-off anime?"
Hikaru asked.
They were nearing the school gates, and thanks to his conversation with Rias, the area was now mostly empty.
"Hikaru... do you have it? I couldn't get it on the early release date."
Koneko's eyes lit up with excitement.
"I do, but it's at my house. Do you want to come and get it?"
"Yes!"
She agreed instantly, without hesitation.
…
Back at the old school building.
Akeno watched the two leave, then turned back to Rias with a teasing smile.
"Looks like Koneko is more charming than we are."
"Koneko's appeal lies in her innocence. Very few boys can resist that kind of cute girl."
Rias replied sullenly.
Then, resting her chin on the table, she murmured softly:
"I'm so jealous..."
The thought of her still-lingering engagement made her sigh in frustration.
…
At Hikaru's home.
"Excuse me."
At the entrance, Koneko took off her school-issued leather shoes, revealing her small feet clad in white socks, then slipped into a pair of indoor slippers. She followed Hikaru into the living room.
"Make yourself comfortable. I'll go get the disc. Stay for dinner."
"Okay."
After answering, Koneko put down her bag, walked over to the couch, and leaned back, casually picking up the remote to turn on the TV.
She seemed quite familiar with the place.
Just then—
A faint presence stirred behind her, causing Koneko's heart to skip a beat.
The next moment, a silver-haired sword spirit appeared behind her.
"Here to play again today?"
"Mm."
Koneko nodded slightly at the silver-haired loli in front of her, her usual expressionless demeanor returning.
After becoming close with Hikaru, she naturally grew close to Est as well.
"This is a little gift. I bought it from the Underworld."
Koneko pulled out a present—a classic snack from the Underworld.
Est watched as Koneko unwrapped it, and before she knew it, her mouth started to water.
After sleeping for most of the day, she was just beginning to feel hungry.
When Hikaru returned, he was greeted by the sight of two supposedly "emotionless" girls munching on snacks.
From a distance, someone might even mistake them for sisters.
After all, they both had silver hair, both had a three-no (silent, emotionless, expressionless) personality, and the only real difference was that Koneko was slightly taller than Est.
"Here, this spin-off anime is best enjoyed alone at home. It's only ten episodes, so it's not too long."
Koneko took the disc and carefully placed it in her bag.
Then, as Est was busy eating, Koneko suddenly remembered something and asked:
"Hikaru, how's your magic training going?"
"I've managed to refine some magic power and can now use basic spells."
Hikaru replied.
Thanks to his Heaven Rewards Diligence ability, he had asked Koneko for guidance on magic after they became familiar with each other.
In this world, magic was different from how it was commonly defined in other worlds.
It wasn't a broad term; rather, it was an ability exclusive to devils and their servants.
Humans could use magic, but only if they formed a contract with a devil to generate magic within themselves, performed a special ritual to implant a magic circle into their bodies, or created magic circuits to become a magician.
Hikaru, however, didn't need any of that.
After learning the training method from Koneko, he had tried using his inner cursed energy to generate magic power—and, naturally, he succeeded.
"That's amazing!"
Koneko's eyes widened slightly.
Though Hikaru had spoken casually, anyone with knowledge of magic would understand just how difficult this feat was.
Moreover, she knew that Hikaru would never sign a contract, implant magic circuits, or use magic formations.
For a mere human to wield magic without any external resources—this level of talent would be considered genius even in the Underworld.
