Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong

Chapter 1417: Lord and Wandering Poets (Part 2)

Seeing His Imperial Majesty arrive in person, the two battle maids were visibly excited, immediately kneeling to perform their salutations, then, at Kelsey's indication, opened the room door respectfully.

Entering the room, Leo Ray took notice.

This was a fairly spacious suite, where a hunched male figure was devouring food voraciously at the dining table; despite his neat attire and groomed hair and beard, Leo Ray instantly recognized him as the disheveled Old Nick from before.

Compared to before, his mental state had visibly improved, but his hair was nearly all gray and the wrinkles on his forehead appeared even deeper under the lamp's illumination.

"My humble self greets the Guild Leader and Miss Kelsey!"

Noticing the noise of our group's arrival, Old Nick quickly stood up from his seat, wiping his greasy mouth while respectfully greeting.

It's understandable, after all, he was merely an ordinary wandering poet, whereas Gael and Kelsey were high-level nobles of the Kingdom, part of the Three Great Aristocratic Families, and naturally, their identities and statuses were worlds apart.

After placing his hand on his chest in a salute, Old Nick's gaze fell upon Leo Ray, leading the group, full of curiosity: "And who might this young gentleman be?"

"Old Nick, aren't you going to kneel before His Imperial Majesty?"

Gael promptly stepped forward, reminding him.

"His Imperial Majesty?!"

Just awakened, Old Nick was clearly filled with questions; despite his astonishment, he hurriedly knelt down, fearfully greeting Leo Ray: "Your humble servant pays respect to Your Majesty!"

"No need for such formalities, think of me as just an ordinary person."

Leo Ray smiled slightly, nodding to signal Old Nick to rise again.

Subsequently, Kelsey introduced Ariel Watson and Grey Elder one after another, leaving Old Nick dumbfounded, almost unable to believe his ears.

You must understand, he was not only a citizen of the Coldflame Kingdom but also a registered member of the Mercenary Guild, fully aware of the weight of these identities; he hadn't expected, upon his awakening, to find so many figures of supreme authority gathered, it truly left him overwhelmed with privilege!

In his shock, Old Nick's reverent and perplexed gaze cautiously landed on Leo Ray again.

Once Coldflame Fifth Princess Ariel Watson and Grey Elder from the Mercenary Guild, although he hadn't seen them personally, he had the fortune to see their Magic Portraits; this young Emperor, however, left no impression on him.

Yet, whether from Gael, Kelsey, or Ariel Watson and Grey Elder's attitudes and expressions, it was clear that this young Emperor had an extraordinary status, reigning above both the Queen of Coldflame City and the Mercenary Guild, something almost unimaginable, for not even the Emperor of Pals Empire would stand above the Mercenary Guild.

"Old Nick, the Human Clan is no longer what you remember, it has advanced far beyond."

Upon receiving Leo Ray's approval, Kelsey, filled with excitement, briefly described the current state of the Human Clan, becoming increasingly engrossed, especially when detailing Leo Ray's venture into the Outer Region.

This revelation left Old Nick with his mouth agape, continuously pinching his saggy cheeks to ensure he wasn't dreaming.

The ability to unite the entire Human Clan, achieving peace across the four seas, is something unheard of even in the most grand and legendary epic tales!

Bear in mind, he himself had spent a lifetime singing praises of legends and epics, yet never heard, nor even fathomed, such a wild and magnificent achievement!

"Enough, Kelsey, that's quite sufficient."

Seeing Old Nick on the verge of petrification from shock, his body beginning to tremble, Leo Ray swiftly interrupted Kelsey's speech.

The old wandering poet had just regained clarity, if he fell into madness again, it would be uncertain when meaningful discourse could resume.

"Old Nick, upon awakening, didn't you wonder about your presence at this Trading Conference?"

Kelsey first smiled somewhat awkwardly at Leo Ray, then concluded: "All thanks to His Majesty's care, you have such a comfortable environment; otherwise, you'd still be wandering the streets, likely perished long ago. Moreover, His Majesty provided precious Healing Magic Potions, ensuring your recovery."

"It's His Majesty who saved me, bestowing such kindness."

Old Nick's weathered face was filled with excitement, once again kneeling before Leo Ray: "Thank you, Your Majesty, for saving my life!"

"Rise, it's merely a trivial gesture."

Leo Ray lifted the trembling figure back to his chair, openly stating: "Mr. Nick, my urgency to meet with you stems from a matter concerning the survival of the entire Human Clan and even the Ten Thousand Clans."

"What? Why does Your Majesty say this?!"

Old Nick's face was immediately suffused with panic and confusion, hurriedly speaking: "I fail to comprehend Your Majesty's message, please clarify."

"Though it may sound shocking, it is indeed the truth."

Leo Ray first summoned the Stone Spirit, Little Moon, skilled in healing, instructing her to be ready to stabilize Old Nick's emotions, then explained: "Mr. Nick, have you heard of the term 'Great Catastrophe'?"

"Great Catastrophe?"

Old Nick's face was instantly filled with bewilderment, but immediately after, his confused expression shifted to terror, blurting out: "Your Majesty, do you mean the Great Catastrophe?!"

Upon uttering those words, Old Nick's previously reddish, aged face turned pale, evidently recalling something horrifying, as his body began to shake uncontrollably.

"Angel's Touch!"

Little Moon reacted swiftly, tracing a Golden Magic Circle in mid-air with her delicate fingers, enveloping Old Nick in a gentle and warm golden hue.

With the golden light dancing, Old Nick's extreme tension quickly calmed down, as he drew a deep breath, nodding heavily to Leo Ray: "To be honest, in my last memory, I did vaguely hear this term."

"Your last memory? Old Nick, you mean during the mercenary mission with that elite squad?"

Ariel Watson's starry eyes brightened, inquiring: "What exactly happened then? How come only you staggered back? Where did the other mercenaries go?"

Journeying alongside Leo Ray, Ariel Watson was exceedingly clear about the entire situation.

Upon hearing Ariel Watson's inquiry, both Gael, Kelsey, and Grey Elder displayed curiosity and concern, casting puzzled glances.

Especially Grey Elder, who had actually heard about this affair.

However, at that time, he was navigating the Sea Area near the Human Clan, preoccupied with a major task issued by King West, which involved locating the source of the Great Catastrophe, thus he hadn't settled at the Mercenary Guild.

By the time he received the news and sought out Old Nick, the latter had already been secretly protected by Kelsey on Leo Ray's orders, resulting in a fruitless return.

Now, as the Mercenary Guild has become Leo Ray's right-hand, this matter no longer divides them.

"In response to Her Majesty the Queen, the events began with a task I accepted; it was a bright, sunny afternoon, as the Frost Orioles sang cheerfully among the branches..."

After finally calming his mind, Old Nick's eyes turned misty, evidently lost in reminiscence.

That afternoon, after receiving an invitation from his mercenary companions, Old Nick quickly packed his gear, joining the mercenary squad as its medic.

And the mission of this mercenary squad was simple: travel to a Magic Beast Cave in the mountains near Viennas City and eradicate the group of mutated Black Steel Spiders residing there.

"The mutated Black Steel Spider, while renowned for its strong defense, was ultimately only at Tier Second, and my team possessed two Tier 3 veteran mercenaries, it should have been an extremely easy task..."

Old Nick took another deep breath, continuing to recount.
