Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong

Chapter 1350: The Reversed Situation (Part 2)

Upon seeing this, although the Flower Fairy soldiers were also using various spells in an attempt to slow down the enemy cavalry, due to the difficulty in casting spells while retreating at high speed, coupled with the enemy's overwhelming numbers and the presence of numerous Magic Knights, it had almost no effective impact.

In just a few breaths' time, a large number of Troll cavalry and Minotaur cavalry had closed the distance between themselves and the Flower Fairy grand army to a mere few hundred meters. Leo Ray could even clearly see that many knights had switched their weapons to javelins and crossbow bolts, yet the Flower Fairy army had not yet reached the mountain's foot.

Once the knights genuinely formed a pincer attack, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the Flower Fairies would suffer heavy losses. Their flying altitude is limited, making it impossible to escape the range of arrows and javelins, practically turning them into sitting ducks.

"It seems the Flower Fairies are doomed this time."

Broy shrugged slightly and blurted out.

In any case, as long as the flames of war haven't spread to our side, the more they exhaust each other, the more advantageous it is for us.

"No, everyone look quickly!"

With her starry eyes wide open, Louise peered toward the nearby mountain peak.

On the mountain peak, numerous figures emerged, and judging by the fluttering Giant Dragon banner, it was the Dragonborn grand army that had finally arrived.

Occupying advantageous terrain, dense chants rose from the Dragonborn camp, and many Magic Cannons with extended barrels were brought forth, evidently increasing the Magic Cannon's range.

The brilliance of magic and the roar of the Magic Cannon echoed ceaselessly on the mountain peak, a majestic bombardment far exceeding any Magic Cannon Strike Leo Ray had ever witnessed, deafening to the ears.

The next second, dense magical explosions began erupting within the ranks of the Troll and Minotaur cavalry at the mountain's base, with scorching flames shooting skyward, causing the cavalry to topple over, screams and roars spreading in the chaos.

These cavalry, having detached from the main formation, lacked the protection of an Absolute Defense Barrier, the result being predictable.

With nearly a single barrage of the Magic Cannon, around ten legions of cavalry had their formations thrown into chaos, especially with the terrified mounts frantically thrashing, tossing many knights from their backs, only to be trampled into a bloody mess by the subsequent arriving cavalry.

The devastation wasn't finished, as the Dragonborn army's first round of Magic Cannon fire ceased, countless magical javelins descended like a torrential storm, landing precisely within the cavalry ranks. The sharp magic radiance pierced easily through heavy armor, exiting through the other side of the body, leaving trails of blood in its wake, causing the already chaotic Troll and Minotaur cavalry to collapse in droves, clearly a Group Magic cast by the Dragonborn.

With the Dragonborn's intervention, the Flower Fairy grand army narrowly escaped a desperate situation, taking advantage of their opponents' disarray to continue advancing towards the mountain peak.

Meanwhile, as the Flower Fairies marched, the Dragonborn's Magic Cannon fire didn't cease, the second volley soon following, blasting the disordered Troll and Minotaur cavalry into fragments, leaving Magic Cannon craters and shattered corpses scattered everywhere, the intense smell of burning filling every corner of the battlefield.

"Did the Flower Fairies only escape disaster due to the Dragonborn's timely intervention?"

Seeing this scene, the tension on Louise's fair face eased, and she blurted out, "Does this mean the Dragonborn and Flower Fairies are allies too?"

"It indeed seems so. The Flower Fairies lost many soldiers, the Troll and Minotaur cavalry are already crushed, thus placing both sides back on an even footing."

Broy nodded slightly and followed up.

"I think not necessarily, things might not be as simple as you imagine."

Leo Ray squinted his eyes slightly, closely observing the light representing the Flower Fairy camp, he said, "Look at the Flower Fairies' movement trajectory."

Prompted by Leo Ray, everyone looked over and saw that despite the Flower Fairy grand army catching its breath and occupying the mountain peak's advantageous terrain, it showed no signs of approaching the Dragonborn grand army, instead taking a longer route to maintain a significant distance, even staying out of the Magic Cannon range.

"Huh? What exactly is happening here?"

A hint of confusion swept across Broy's eyes as he wondered aloud, "The Flower Fairies' losses aren't small, and their Absolute Defense Barrier has shattered. In such circumstances, they should be joining forces with their allies, or at least taking shelter within their allies' range. Why deliberately distance themselves from their allies?"

"Unless, as Your Majesty of the Humans alluded, the Flower Fairies and Dragonborn are not actually allies."

Shuert stroked his wooden beard, responding, "That's the most reasonable explanation."

"But if the Flower Fairies and Dragonborn aren't allied, why would the Dragonborn intervene to help?"

Louise pondered for a moment, then couldn't help but ask.

"The answer isn't difficult to explain; if the Dragonborn stood idly by or even took advantage, what would happen?"

Leo Ray lightly sniffed the distant, permeating stench of sulfurous burning, and countered.

"The Flower Fairies, even if not completely annihilated, would undoubtedly be severely injured, unable to contend with the other three, leaving retreat from the battlefield as their only option."

Louise, without hesitation, answered Leo Ray's question.

Finishing her thought, she clearly realized more and exclaimed, "Your Majesty of the Humans, are you saying that the Dragonborn do not want the Flower Fairies to leave the battlefield?"

"Exactly, if the Flower Fairies retreat, then the Trolls and Minotaurs would only face the Dragonborn as their sole target, which is obviously something the latter would prefer to avoid."

Leo Ray affirmed Louise's thought, responding, "It seems the visiting Light Half-Elves haven't provided substantial support to the Dragonborn; otherwise, the Dragonborn wouldn't act so cautiously."

"Your Majesty of the Humans is precisely right. Seeing that the Light Half-Elves only appeared in Dragonborn City, the Dragonborn and Flower Fairies are indeed not aligned, as the Light Half-Elves wouldn't allow the Dragonborn to freely ally with other forces."

A pensive contemplation flickered across Shuert's carved wooden face as he nodded, "From my observation, the Light Half-Elves probably intend to leverage the Dragonborn's strength to touch that unknown key point and don't intend to act personally. Correspondingly, the Dragonborn also seem to want to use the influence of the Light Half-Elves and the Light Elves behind them to better reach that unknown key point."

"Elder Your Excellency's thoughts align with mine, and the current situation has indeed become very clear."

Leo Ray crossed his arms, nodding slightly, "Whether it's the Trolls and Minotaurs, the Flower Fairies, or the Dragonborn and Light Half-Elves, they are all trying to eliminate their opponents to better reach that unknown key point. It's just that the Flower Fairies charged in too quickly, becoming targets for the Trolls and Minotaurs."

"Lord, your subordinate has one more question."

Louise stepped forward, tilting her head, "Leaving aside what the unknown key point truly is, these forces moved simultaneously, meaning they almost simultaneously learned about the key point. How could this information have been leaked?"

"Regarding that point, we also don't know at present. There may be a behind-the-scenes manipulator, or perhaps one of these four forces is responsible. However, what's most pressing now isn't that concern."

Leo Ray shrugged, responding, "The most critical issue we should focus on now is whether the flames of this battle will spread to us, as we still don't know the ultimate location of that key point."

That said, Leo Ray's gaze became piercing, and he stated again, "No matter what, judging from their stance, we will definitely have our answer tonight. Let's wait and see."
