Chapter 32
Chapter 32
“That’s right! The big oppa asked me to tell you he’d be waiting.”
“He’s waiting?”
“Yes!”
“Waiting for me?”
“Yes! For the pretty oppa outside!”
Muyoung was momentarily flustered, unsure where the word “pretty” had suddenly come from. But that was brief. He realized that the “what” in “What on earth is he trusting to act like he has multiple lives?” was himself, and his mouth fell open.
‘So, he went with those people trusting that I would save him? He trusts me?’
While Muyoung had hoped for Seokjae to trust him, he never wanted him to stake his life so recklessly.
He was deeply shocked, his focus blurring for a moment, but if Seokjae trusted him that much, it was right to repay that trust. Muyoung steeled his resolve more than ever before.
Just then, a sharp high-pitched voice was heard.
“Hayun! There you are! What on earth are you doing here?”
The woman who had been cooling off alone in the bathroom, washing her face with cold water, had belatedly realized the child was missing and come looking. Kyungho’s face turned pale as they were discovered by another group member before anything had been resolved.
As soon as the woman rushed over and grabbed the child’s shoulders, Muyoung spoke:
“Everyone, get out of here right now.”
“Oh my! W-who are you?”
The woman, not expecting anyone to be outside at this hour, screamed in shock upon hearing Muyoung’s voice. Normally, he would have apologized for unintentionally startling her, but right now, Muyoung was focused on only one thing.
“I need to save hyung, so everyone get out of here right now.”
“No, who are you to tell us to leave- Ah! Hey! What are you doing?”
When Muyoung ignored her question and repeated the same words, the woman retorted incredulously. At the same time, Kyungho started clearing away the furniture blocking the revolving door. Seeing this action, the woman stopped mid-sentence, grabbed Kyungho’s arm, and screamed.
A considerable commotion broke out at the back entrance, but no one noticed. All the men in the group were with Seokjae in the restaurant, and the remaining middle-aged woman was resting in her room.
Despite carrying Junwoo on his back, Kyungho’s strength was greater than usual as he moved desperately to save Seokjae. The woman’s strength was no match for his.
Thinking this wouldn’t do, the woman clenched her fists and opened her mouth to warn that she would call for help.
“I’m going to call for-“
“That’s fine.”
“W-what?”
“I’m sorry, but I’m not asking.”
But as time passed and what little reason remained wore thin, Muyoung attempted an action he thought he’d never be associated with.
“Even if you don’t leave, I’m planning to break in.”
“D-don’t be ridiculous. If you do that, the noise will attract zombies and you’ll…”
“I can survive that. While saving my friends too.”
It was the first threat he’d made in his life. Muyoung clenched his trembling hands, narrowed his eyes fiercely, and continued:
“But you can’t. So if you don’t want to die alone, get out now and run far away.”
He was prepared to show through actions, not just threats, if she continued to disobey his words even after this.
“Hah. Do you think I’d believe such an absurd bluff?”
Muyoung sighed heavily and tilted his head back. As a novice at threats, he had no idea what else to say to convince her.
He understood that it would be strange for someone to obey a stranger telling them to leave the safety of indoors for the dangerous outside. But right now, he didn’t have the luxury to consider such circumstances.
‘Right, there’s no choice.’
He hesitated briefly after making his decision, but it was for a very short time, not even three seconds. He quickly looked around for something that could break the revolving door’s glass. Soon, he spotted a black motorcycle helmet behind a building pillar.
“Then stay right there.”
Staring directly into the woman’s eyes, Muyoung walked to the pillar and grabbed the helmet stuck in the corner. The woman, who had been relieved thinking “It was just a bluff after all” when she saw Muyoung move away from the revolving door, was shocked to see him approaching with the helmet in hand.
“Be careful not to get hit by the glass.”
Bang! With those final words to Kyungho, Muyoung struck the revolving door with the helmet. Being his first attempt, the glass didn’t break but repelled the helmet. However, the mark left where he struck showed it had received a significant impact.
‘This much force isn’t enough.’
He had been worried about the glass shattering if he swung with all his might. He was fine, but Kyungho and the child might get hurt. So he had held back a bit… Now, realizing the glass wouldn’t break as easily as he thought, Muyoung raised the helmet high, intending to strike with full force this time.
The woman, her face pale, urgently tried to stop Muyoung.
“Alright! I get it! I’ll leave. But where am I supposed to go when you tell me to run away? I have nowhere to go.”
Not noticing the woman’s terror, Muyoung was glad she had been persuaded and rapidly delivered information as if he had been waiting for this:
“If you go straight west from the main entrance for about 10 minutes, there’s a two-story house with lots of orange flowers on the fence. The door is open, and it’s safe.”
“God, what a disaster. Fine, just wait a moment. I’ll quickly pack my things and come down.”
“I’m sorry, but that’s not possible.”
As Muyoung shook the helmet threateningly once more, the woman’s face contorted. However, seeming to have resigned herself to her situation, she began moving the furniture piled at the door along with Kyungho, with an air of desperation.
After watching this for a few seconds, unable to wait patiently any longer, Muyoung placed his hands on the revolving door to brace himself, just as Seokjae had done.
The woman spoke in an incredulous tone:
“Look, it won’t open no matter what you do, so just wait a little-“
Creeeak.
Before the woman, who had been dismissive of Muyoung’s physique, could finish speaking, the revolving door turned, creating a gap large enough for four people to exit.
“How on earth…”
“So he really is the memo paper…”
“Wow.”
It was an inhuman strength that didn’t match his appearance. Everyone was too stunned to speak, but they hurriedly exited through the door at Muyoung’s urging gaze. Relieved that the four people, including Junwoo, had safely left the hotel, Muyoung remembered there was one last piece of information he needed to find out and called to the woman.
“Ah, just a moment.”
The woman, who was about to leave immediately out of fear of being near Muyoung who had threatened her, flinched.
“W-what now?”
“Where did that person go?”
“Ah…”
Finally realizing that Muyoung had done all this to save a person and nothing else, the woman let go of some of her fear and said:
“He’s probably in the restaurant. They’ve been planning to clean up the kitchen for a while now.”
“Which direction is that?”
“It’s on the far right of the first floor. If you go this way, you’ll see a place with floor-to-ceiling windows, that’s it. Though you won’t be able to see inside because it’s all covered with boxes.”
“Thank you.”
In contrast to his forceful actions, Muyoung bowed deeply and politely expressed his gratitude, causing the hesitating woman to mutter “It’s nothing” as if to herself. After that, she tightly held the child’s hand and carefully ran in the direction Muyoung had indicated, trying to muffle their footsteps.
“Please make sure to bring Seokjae hyung back.”
Kyungho, who was about to follow them, paused and turned to Muyoung with this request. Hoping to alleviate his anxiety even a little, Muyoung smiled and nodded. It was a feigned composure.
Unaware of this fact, Kyungho felt as if his heavy legs had become somewhat lighter. He smiled back before following the woman and child.
‘I hope the four of them don’t encounter zombies attracted by the commotion while escaping.’
Just in case, Muyoung suppressed his impatience and waited a little longer. At the same time, he racked his brain for the most effective way to rescue Seokjae.
Breaking down the door would be easy enough. But if Seokjae had gone into the kitchen alone, he would need to deal with the group outside to rescue him. Even though he was stronger than the average person, if he had to fight barehanded, it was obvious it would take time.
‘…Should I throw a table?’
Biting his lip, Muyoung looked around, gauging what could be used as a weapon immediately. Just then, he noticed a black motorcycle parked by the wall.
“That’s…”
It took a moment to recognize the black motorcycle as there was no light except what leaked from the hotel.
Quickly approaching to examine it, unlike common motorcycles, this one had thick, massive tires that looked extremely sturdy. Enough to smash through glass in one go.
“I wondered why there was a random helmet.”
The blood-soaked seat and handlebars told the story of what had happened. Unfortunately, the motorcycle’s owner seemed to have met their end before they could escape, with the key still in the ignition.
“I’ll be borrowing this.”
Muyoung, mounting the handlebars with familiarity, flipped up the motorcycle’s side stand.
