Eternal Primordial: Tragic Soul United

Chapter 60: Self Promise

After watching Horo let his head hang low for a while the captain, named Valen, spoke.

"Kid I understand what you're feeling, but you don't have to be so hopeless, isn't your sister still alive? Aren't you still alive?"

His words made Horo snap his head up, for once his lightless eyes showed a gleam, something they didn't usually do since they sucked in light instead of reflecting it.

Valen continued "Also I can sense your stage, for you to be so young and already at the level you're at you must be extremely talented, that with your special physique should put you on a path deemed for greatness. If you want you can join the city guards with my recommendation or at least stay until you decide what you will do."

"If you joint the guard you will be provided with ample resources depending on your merits and even more when your potential is revealed. We also have many techniques collected and gathered from many places given to us by the royal family, they are all in the guards archives.

Horo wiped the tears off of his face as he thought "To think an old monster like me could still cry like a little kid."

That's right he was an old monster, even though his current body was only nine years old , his soul had three lifetimes of experience.

It's just that he really grew attached to this family because he really bonded and connected with them, unlike his life as a cultivator, or the one on earth where he didn't have family at all. After hearing Valen he regained some composure and begin thinking and processing thoughts at a pace he shouldn't be able to in this body.

It's as if his soul was finally aligned, he didn't know but this tragedy helped his souls truly complete their fusion process which granted benefits he has yet to discover.

Horo finally spoke "I can't join the city guards, at least not for this city because it's possible I could cross paths with that young master again. If he were to know I am still alive he'll most likely try to nip a future problem in the bud. I'll take the recommendation though and maybe I could use it to join in another city."

Valen nodded in agreement but remembered something "How will you get to another city, the closest city is thousands of kilometers away. There's villages and towns closer, but none have a city guard and your talent will be wasted in those small settlements.

"I could give you some resources to help you on a journey, but you're too weak to travel alone. There is very dangerous wild beast roaming, as well as enigmatic alternate beast possibly free after breaking out of their dimension."

Horo asked "How does everyone usually travel from city to city?"

Valen responded "Well usually someone of your status would pay to be escorted by mercenaries. Major powers or strong families usually have tamed beast that could help them travel, or they'll just pay an extreme amount of money to use the city's teleportation formation. Only the cities have those and the royal family maintain strict control over them, they're meant for emergencies or expensive immediate travel for those who can afford it."

Horo didn't really need time to think about his response because…..

"Well it looks like none of those options are available for me, and on top of that I need to leave as soon as possible because the longer I stick around the great the risk and possibility that I'll be discovered, I'm sure there's moles in your city guard."

Valen thought "Wow, this kid seems really mature and intelligent"

Then he responded to Horo "So, what's your plan?"

Horo said with a stern look and a voice full of conviction "I'll do it, I'll travel alone, I'll use this treacherous journey as test of will and path to growth. If I can't make it through this how will I ever be able to face a power like that sect."

Seeing the demeanor of this little boy that looked like a teenager made a commotion inside of Valen's heart. He felt sympathy and hope for the young boys survival brewing within himself. This made him decide to give all that he can to help this little boy in his travels.

Valen spoke "Seeing the resolve you have I'm sure you're serious about this, so….." he paused then said "I'm going to provide you with as much as I can to help you on your journey. I will take some days off and teach you as much as I can about this kingdom, and then send you off with maps and other necessities.

He said his last were from the bottom of his heart, as if this little boy were his own kin "Your not the only one left kid, you have to save your sister, and I hope that you will bring the Trueheart name to glorious heights.

Valen's last words made Horo think to himself "That's right, I still have uncle jack and aunt Anacia, most importantly I have to save Himora no matter what. I will grow strong, strong enough to destroy that entire sect, strong enough so that no will will ever be able to take or harm any of my loved ones again"

He stood up and gave a deep bow to Valen and said sincerely "Thank you mister Valen, I will never forget this debt and hope to repay it ten thousand fold, I promise I will grow strong enough for the world to know of that name, our name….."

Hearing those words and that bold promise made Valen smile ear to ear.

Little did he know Horo was making that promise mostly to himself and he will forever hold it dear in his head until it's fulfilled.

Valen didn't know some simple words of his brought Horo back from the brink of despair.

The same simple words changed the course of direction for the entire Azure Moon World.
