Eternal Heavenly Emperor

Chapter 555: Stepping In

"Who are you?" The Young Man in Blue looked at Chu Hao, unable to gauge his opponent's strength, which caught him off guard.

As the saying goes, know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without danger. In the cutthroat Martial Arts World, a single mistake could be fatal.

Clearly, no one wanted to die.

Chu Hao responded with a faint smile, "Take a guess."

"Guess my ass!" The Young Man in Blue barked harshly and immediately launched an attack. He refused to believe that there was any young member of the Spirit Spring Sect who could rival him—it seemed like a joke.

His anger fueled him as he pointed a finger, which struck out like a great mountain barreling forward.

Chu Hao casually threw a punch, and boom, the Young Man in Blue was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing into a distant mountain side, embedding himself into it.

Hiss!

At this scene, everyone sharply inhaled. The Young Man in Blue had been so domineering moments ago, akin to a young sovereign, yet now he had been punched away by Chu Hao—a contrast too striking for many to accept.

"Chu, Chu Hao!" There were indeed people from the Spirit Spring Sect who recognized Chu Hao; they were just hesitant to admit it initially. But after a few more glances, someone shouted out his name.

"It really is Chu Hao."

"My god, Senior Brother Chu is back!"

Many "old-timers" of the Spirit Spring Sect were overwhelmed with excitement. The first time the Snowy Plains Sect attacked, it was Chu Hao who stepped forward to repel the young generation of the Snowy Plains Sect. But that was the only time; afterward, the Spirit Spring Sect had been continuously oppressed, unable to lift their heads.

It was Chu Hao who had reestablished their prestige this time.

"Senior Brother Chu is mighty!"

"Senior Brother Chu is dominant!"

The disciples of the Spirit Spring Sect cheered loudly. They had been losers for far too long, and finally, they had a moment of triumph that made everyone uncontrollably ecstatic, with cheers that seemed to shake the heavens and earth.

"Chu Hao!" The faces of the Snowspring Sect members changed; what shocked them wasn't Chu Hao himself, but his status as the top figure of the Human Race at the War God Academy. Given a few more years, it was certain that Chu Hao would become one of the leading figures of the Human Race, which was truly alarming.

First off, with the backing of the War God Academy, who would dare to harm him?

"Chu Hao, you are no longer a member of the Spirit Spring Sect. Why show up now?" The War Emperor from the Snowy Plains Sect spoke, having heard that Chu Hao had advanced to War Venerate status. Among the younger generation of the Snowy Plains Sect, nobody could match him, so naturally, he had to confront Chu Hao himself.

His name was Lu, known as the Triple Flame War Emperor, a top-notch fighter of the Snowy Plains Sect.

"That's right, they already kicked you out. Why are you still shamelessly scurrying back? Don't you feel embarrassed?" A disciple from the Snowy Plains Sect snickered, envious that Chu Hao was now in his prime, casting a long shadow over other talents.

Chu Hao's gaze swept over, and the taunting disciple suddenly felt pressure in his chest and his complexion turned deathly pale. Chu Hao smiled faintly and said, "Whether I return to the Spirit Spring Sect or not is none of your business. If you want to spar, I'll play along; if not, get lost! In a few days, I will personally visit the Snowy Plains Sect to have a 'friendly discussion' with you all."

"What an arrogant young man," said the Triple Flame War Emperor coldly. "Chu Hao, you might be a War Venerate now, but you're not qualified to be presumptuous in front of me! However, haha, I've heard you're a wanted man by the Spirit Spring Sect, and I'm curious to see how you'll handle that."

He paused and then shouted, "Chu Hao is here! Chu Hao is here! Chu Hao is here!" repeating three times.

The disciples of the Spirit Spring Sect were immediately enraged. Wasn't he deliberately trying to lure out Huo Jiang and the others?

Of course, Chu Hao wouldn't stop him; he had been planning to kill Huo Jiang anyway, so the man's voluntary appearance was all the better.

In just a moment, a group of people was seen flying over from the mountain. They were aboard a flying artifact, ten in total, men and women, old and young, the elderly in their sixties and the youngest barely in their twenties.

Huo Jiang, Tu Honglie, Han Zongxin, Han Tao—Chu Hao recognized only four of them. There were also a few young women, gaudily dressed.

The flying artifact quickly landed and all ten people disembarked.

"Chu Hao!" Huo Jiang, spotting Chu Hao, immediately yelled out, his eyes brimming with bitter hatred.

He had only been bested once in his life, which was by Chu Hao and Yun Cai. And he hadn't been able to avenge this defeat immediately, even with his ancestor, the War Emperor Kong Ming, returning empty-handed.

This grievance had lodged itself in his heart and instead of fading over time, had grown deeper and more profound.

"Hahaha, Chu Hao, you dare to come back!" he stated grimly. Years had passed and he was still as arrogant as ever, but with added poise; otherwise, he would have been furiously lashing out instead of coldly sneering as he was now.

"I've come back to kill you," said Chu Hao indifferently.

"What a totally unfunny joke," declared Huo Jiang confidently. This was the Spirit Spring Sect, and the sect's patriarch, the War Emperor Kong Ming, was present there. Who did he have to fear? "Zongxin, take him down," he ordered Han Zongxin.

Eh!

Han Zongxin's face twitched. He had naturally heard about Chu Hao, the Heaven Talented of the War God Academy, the foremost young figure of the Human Race. More importantly, Chu Hao had already stepped into the rank of War Venerate!

War Venerate, ah, a realm that even his master had not been able to enter, yet Chu Hao had achieved it.

Capture Chu Hao? Was this some kind of joke? Not to mention himself, even his master did not possess that ability.

"Young Master Huo, I'm afraid we'll have to deploy several War Venerable Experts to take down Chu Hao. This guy has already advanced to War Venerate," Han Zongxin hastily said, clearly not wishing to bring shame upon himself, let alone potentially getting killed.

Huo Jiang let out a sound of disbelief and looked at Chu Hao with incredulous eyes. He was reckless, but not stupid. He, of course, knew what the title of War Venerate meant. It symbolized stepping into the Upper Three Realms, truly worthy of being called a powerful being.

This guy, he's actually, actually, actually this strong?

"Uncle Tu, activate the Sect Master's Order and assemble everyone here," he said to Tu Honglie.

"Yes, Young Master Huo!" Tu Honglie was a seasoned powerhouse, yet he was as obedient as a dog in front of Huo Jiang. He quickly nodded, took out an object from the Mustard Seed Ring, and flung it into the air, where it exploded with a loud crack, forming a gigantic "Order" character in the sky.

The Sect Master's Order had been issued. Those who saw the command but failed to assemble within half an hour would be considered traitors to the sect!

This was the Spirit Spring Sect, and ordinarily, as soon as the "Order" character made such a grand appearance in the sky, people would notice it immediately and arrive within a minute or two.

But five minutes later, the mountains were still silent, with not a single War Venerable Expert in sight.

"Pfft!" The people from Snowy Plains Sect burst out laughing. It was just too comical. The Sect Master's Order had been issued, yet there was no response. Could this still be called an Imperial-level Power?

It was practically a farce.

Huo Jiang was fuming mad. He knew that not one of the Upper Three Realms' powerhouses took him seriously, often paying him lip service but acting otherwise. The four War Emperors had long since entered closed-door cultivation, out of sight, out of mind. Although the War Venerates were not as extreme, they, too, had excuses of being in closed-door cultivation or being busy, usually ignoring him outright.

But it was one thing to ignore him ordinarily; now that the Sect Master's Order had been issued and no one showed up, was this a rebellion?

And in front of outsiders, no less!

Damnable! Damnable! Damnable!

Huo Jiang looked towards the Triple Flame War Emperor and suddenly said, "You, take down this man for me!"

The entire place went silent, even the Snowy Plains Sect members couldn't believe it. Huo Jiang was actually giving orders to the Snowy Plains Sect. Had his brain been sucked out? What kind of absurd idea was this?

Triple Flame War Emperor laughed heartily, "Boy, are you ordering me around?"

After pondering, Huo Jiang said, "As long as you take this guy down for me, I'll let you take away any Cultivation Technique from the Scripture Pavilion."

"Impossible!" The disciples of the Spirit Spring Sect exclaimed in horror.

That place held many of the sect's Secret Techniques. If they were leaked, in future confrontations, the Snowy Plains Sect would be able to target them effectively, which would be disastrous for the Spirit Spring Sect.

"Hmph, why not?" said Huo Jiang indifferently, having no interest in martial arts himself.

"Ten books," proposed the Triple Flame War Emperor, bargaining. Since this was a foolish and naive scion, if he didn't take a big advantage, he'd be the foolish one.

"Fine," Huo Jiang acquiesced nonchalantly. To him, ten or twenty Cultivation Techniques made no difference.

Seeing how easily he agreed, the Triple Flame War Emperor regretted not asking for a hundred. He could have cleaned out the Spirit Spring Sect's foundations. But the words were out, and he couldn't take them back, so he could only hope for another such opportunity with Huo Jiang's foolishness in the future.

The people of the Spirit Spring Sect were enraged. Huo Jiang's actions were utterly disgraceful. How could there be such a person?

However, the Triple Flame War Emperor laughed heartily, "Chu Hao, just surrender. With your status, you don't have to worry about your life. Why don't you do me a favor, eh?"

Chu Hao also laughed, "Why don't you cut off your own head to save me some trouble?"

"It seems we are not on the same page!" Triple Flame War Emperor shook his head, "Chu Hao, although you are supremely talented, you are merely a War Venerate right now. There is a chasm between a War Venerate and a War Emperor."

"Heh," Chu Hao just chuckled.

"Triple Flame, since when is it your turn to run rampant in the Spirit Spring Sect?" A chilly hum sounded as War Emperor Tianshuang's figure emerged, a step creating ripples like a cold frost.

"Tianshuang!" The Triple Flame War Emperor's eyes turned serious, surprise written on his face. Weren't War Emperor Tianshuang and the other three always in closed-door cultivation, never showing up no matter how provoked? How come they emerged today?

Huo Jiang began to curse, "That old dog! When I issued the Sect Master's Order, he was nowhere to be seen. Now, when Chu Hao is about to be attacked, he jumps out. He should be damned!"

Indeed this was the case. War Emperor Tianshuang had been attentive since Chu Hao arrived and had no intention of appearing unless Chu Hao was in danger. But now that the Triple Flame War Emperor intended to make a move, he could no longer sit idly by. (To be continued.
