Eternal Heavenly Emperor

Chapter 543: The Stone Slab

Clusters of palaces, sprawling like clouds.

Chu Hao made a gesture of invitation and said, "Ladies first."

"Giggle," Luo Qingyan, with a smirk, said, "Hao, you sure have a sweet tongue. Are you trying to get 'refined' again?"

Chu Hao quickly waved his hands. The 'refinement' indeed could enhance his physique, but the process was excruciating, and he did not want to be 'refined' again. This witch was truly capricious; even a bit of flattery from him would lead to a 'refinement,' showing no sense of right and wrong.

Xiang Wushuang, in his heart, sighed deeply. Where did this witch come from? She was incredibly powerful, looked only about a teenager, yet made life unbearable for others.

"Little elephant, are you also dissatisfied?" Luo Qingyan gently tapped Xiang Wushuang's elephant head.

Xiang Wushuang shivered immediately, not daring to show any temper.

Luo Qingyan did not enter, and no one else dared to go first. They all obediently stayed behind, not even daring to urge her. It was well known that Chu Hao alone could suppress them all single-handedly.

"Let's go!" Chu Hao said, showing great interest in the scrolls here.

Luo Qingyan, indifferent, patted the sitting War Elephant, and Xiang Wushuang had no choice but to obediently move forward. His body was originally silver, but now it was adorned with golden meridian patterns, clearly indicating a significant enhancement in his physique, making him appear much more formidable.

This should have been a joyful celebration, but remembering his past experiences and now humiliatingly serving as a mount, Xiang Wushuang felt endless hatred. He, a Heaven Talented member of the War Elephant clan and one of the Seven Emperors of the Alien Race, had fallen into such a plight; it was utterly disgraceful.

Chu Hao entered the first palace.

Inside were rows of bookshelves, each as tall as the ceiling of the palace, and on the shelves were stone tablets like pages of books.

Chu Hao took out a tablet to look at it. It depicted a drawing of two Martial Artists confronting each other. He turned it over and over; the tablet was heavy and light gray, exuding a sense of historical vicissitude.

Beyond that, he could not see anything remarkable about the tablet. The picture, too, was quite ordinary—two Martial Artists in a fierce confrontation, which was quite normal as countless Martial Artists from Sky Martial Star dueled every day.

He took another tablet, still showing two Martial Artists in combat. As he continued, it was all the same—the entire shelf dedicated to these two Martial Artists' battle process.

The static images did not reveal much, no matter how earth-shattering the battles seemed; the tension of the fight was not palpable.

"You're using it wrong," Luo Qingyan came over and said. She lightly jumped down from the War Elephant, graceful as a fairy. Unfortunately for Chu Hao and Xiang Wushuang, who had both suffered at her hands, neither harbored any affection for her.

The witch gestured lightly, and all the tablets in the bookshelf took flight, circling in the air and radiating white light, connecting into one breath.

Boom—Chu Hao suddenly felt the Field Domain around him change; he was in the void, with two Martial Artists confronting each other ahead, both looking about forty years old and radiating incredible vitality, as though they could shatter heaven and earth.

However, it seemed as though the two did not notice Chu Hao's presence at all. They stared at each other, and energies burst forth from within them, turning tangible and colliding with each other, as if two worlds were colliding.

This was terrifying. There were only two of them, but why was their momentum so frightful?

And, how did he end up in the void? He was merely a Ninth Tier War Venerate and definitely should not be standing in the void.

Wait, these two people!

Chu Hao suddenly realized; he had seen these two Martial Artists confronting each other in the tablet drawings. Was he now within the drawing? That's why he could stand proudly in the void.

This was incredible. Those were merely a series of drawings, yet now they felt so real, the aura utterly authentic, causing him to break out in goosebumps.

"Yell!" The two Martial Artists simultaneously yelled, one radiating green light and the other emitting golden light, each forming a spherical Field Domain.

Field Domain, Chu Hao thought to himself; these two were War Gods, no wonder their presence felt so terrifying, as though his skin was about to be ripped apart. No, no, these two were not ordinary War Gods. He had seen War Gods before, even Yue Wu Jian who was known as the strongest War God in the Nine States, but their might was nowhere near as terrifying as these two.

The two great Field Domains collided, creating a vacuum in between. Clearly, both War Gods were of equal caliber, neither's Field Domain overwhelming the other.

Whoosh, whoosh, they attacked each other, their Laws shining forth—one side in green characters, the other in golden—pressing down towards the other.

A clash at the level of War Gods was a battle of Laws.

Chu Hao could not comprehend what he was seeing, as he could not grasp these Laws, but he could feel the colossal force at play. It was as if two mighty beings were using their spells right in front of him, fighting an intense battle with nothing held back, greatly affecting and enlightening him.

"This is the Void Mirror, and that is Zhu Taiyuan," Luo Qingyan appeared, pointing at the two figures and saying, her eyes holding the phenomena of sun, moon, and stars. "Back then, they were known as the strongest War Gods within a hundred thousand years, respecting each other and agreeing to a battle."

"This spar was known as the No God War, implying that after this battle, no other War Gods deserved the title."

"Later, the Void Realm became the Realm Master, Zhu Taiyuan perished in an exploration of Ancient Ruins. What a pity, such a pity."

Listening to her narrate grandly, Chu Hao couldn't help asking, "How do you know their names, their stories?"

"That reminds me whenever I see it!" Luo Qingyan said lightly.

Chu Hao realized and asked, "The so-called archive of one hundred thousand volumes, could it be all about the images of battles between these powerful Heaven Talented?"

"Most of them should be," Luo Qingyan said uncertainly, "There seem to be some cultivation techniques and secret techniques too, but I'm not very clear on that."

Chu Hao's heart raced, these were battles of War Gods, certainly also included Star Master battles, Domain Lord battles, and even Realm Master level fights; what a harvest it would be if he could continuously ponder over them?

"I'll take these stone slabs, you don't mind, do you?" he asked Luo Qingyan. She had "dug" them out from here, and with the Undead Army's immense respect for her, she could at least be considered a half-owner.

Luo Qingyan shrugged her shoulders and answered, "If you have the ability to take them, I have no objections."

Chu Hao naturally didn't hold back and began to collect these stone slabs, but what frustrated him was that not a single Mustard Seed Ring could retrieve them; his Divine Sense could not envelop these stone slabs, let alone collect them.

No wonder Luo Qingyan had agreed so readily.

Witch is a witch, she still had to play him once.

"It's not fun to play this way," Chu Hao complained.

Luo Qingyan chuckled continuously, and after she had her fill of laughter, she said, "With your current strength, you could at most only watch a War God's battle scene. If I really let you see a Star Master level confrontation, the mere impact of the images would obliterate your Divine Sense. I'm actually saving your life here."

Watching her lightly smiling, Chu Hao did not know whether she was telling the truth or lying, this witch was ever-changing and difficult to predict.

With a light wave of Luo Qingyan's hand, the empty space immediately retracted, and the stone slabs returned to their places in the bookshelf neatly and orderly.

"Didn't you say there are some cultivation techniques here? Bring one and let me have a look," Chu Hao said unapologetically.

"Tsk tsk tsk, you really are not hesitant!" Luo Qingyan curled her lips, then said, "I'll give you three chances; find it yourself, if you do, I'll grant you a glimpse."

The "books" here, if not opened in a special way, are just ordinary painting boards, so her words were not a shirking of responsibility; indeed, she was giving Chu Hao a chance—three chances, in fact.

Chu Hao couldn't help but look at the rows of bookshelves; just this palace alone had over a thousand rows, and the entire palace complex even more so, with a hundred buildings, truly earning its name of one hundred thousand volumes. How easy would it be to find a cultivation technique in such a vast collection?

Luo Qingyan had also mentioned that most of the archive consisted of powerful confrontations.

In fact, the value of battle images of powerful beings was astonishingly high, but Chu Hao's current realm was too low. Even if he watched, it would be pointless; he couldn't understand and could only sense a little, with limited benefits.

"Can I also pick one?" Xiang Wushuang spoke up, though his face turned bright red after saying this. Having seen Luo Qingyan's methods, he clearly understood how great this opportunity was, and he wasn't willing to give up.

——The higher the realm, the harder it is to resist such temptations.

"Considering you are my mount, I'll also give you a chance," Luo Qingyan considered for a moment and then nodded in agreement.

Xiang Wushuang quickly trembled his body, reverting to human form, and immediately began searching.

Luo Qingyan just giggled without urging him on.

To flip through one hundred thousand volumes, how long would that take?

"That, can you give me some hints?" Chu Hao asked with a grin.

"No way!" Luo Qingyan shook her head, "I've already given you three chances which is a huge favor, and you still want me to help you cheat?"

Chu Hao sighed and had no choice but to search on his own, but he was taken aback when he picked up a stone slab from the second bookshelf, as it was a blank slab, with neither images nor text on it.

He picked up another slab to look at it, still a blank slab; he thought maybe the second row of bookshelves was all like this, so he went to look at the subsequent bookshelves, but it was blank, blank, all blank.

He returned to the first bookshelf to check again, still blank.

"You've tampered with these, how can I even play?" Chu Hao accused.

"Tsk, if I didn't cover it up a bit, you could eventually find it if you kept looking, where's the fun in that?" Luo Qingyan snorted lightly, then said, "Choose yourself, I can allow you to see the content on the slabs, but you only have the time of one incense stick to choose."

Time of one incense stick? One incense stick's time might not even be enough to flip through the "books" here once, not to mention the other hundred or so palaces.

After thinking it over for a while, Chu Hao said, "Then I'll just continue searching like this."

He decided to bet on his luck because his luck had always been good. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it at qidian.com, your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please read at m.qidian.com.)
