Chapter 499: Groping
Chu Hao was slowly absorbing the Heart of Elements—a War God's mastery of elemental energy, which even included a trace of comprehension of the Laws. However, the War God had only just begun to tread the path of understanding the Laws, so the power of the Laws contained within the Heart of Elements was naturally extremely weak.
But for a War Venerate, this was already enough, too powerful it simply could not be digested.
In fact, mastering the elements is far simpler than comprehending the Laws, as there are only six elements in total, whereas there are countless Laws. By comparison, one is but a small droplet, and the other is a vast ocean.
Yet, that droplet is the prerequisite for touching the ocean. Only by thoroughly mastering the elements is one qualified to touch the ocean. The War God completely mastered the elemental energy, thereby taking the crucial step to contemplate the Laws.
After harboring such thoughts, Chu Hao couldn't help but sigh inwardly. His body actually contained a segment of the Laws of Life, but unfortunately, he couldn't comprehend them. He could only allow it to function passively. Otherwise, based on this foundation, he could slowly enhance the power of the Laws, which would be amazing.
He focused intently on his inner realization. In the Sea of Consciousness, the lightning encircling the Soul Seed avatar became increasingly brilliant, but no matter how much the lightning grew, it couldn't threaten the avatar's dominant position.
Chu Hao had a revelation. The Chaos Intent Realm far surpassed the Thunder Intent Realm in substance, so even though the foundation was still quite weak, it still completely overwhelmed the Thunder Intent Realm.
Three days later, Chu Hao had completely refined the first Heart of Elements. He raised his hand, and with a 'zzt' sound, his entire right hand suddenly transformed into blue lightning, no longer comprising of flesh and blood.
Elemental Transformation.
This is something he had been capable of doing for a while, but becoming the Thunder Element, this was the first time.
Chu Hao fell into contemplation. The Thunder Intent Realm was a benefit gained from the ancient ruins and was not the path he intended to follow. If he spent too much energy on this, it would be putting the cart before the horse.
But the question was, how should he proceed with his Chaos Intent Realm?
It was a path with no precedent, one he would have to navigate slowly on his own.
He thought back to a previous discussion with Fat Cat. In the universe, everything has its positive and negative aspects—this would be the foundation of his future Chaos Intent Realm. But the problem was, how to bridge the path in between?
He racked his brains. Having reached the peak of the First Tier War Venerate, he relied on the opposition of fire and water to enlarge his Chaos Intent Realm. But in truth, this was merely the simultaneous cultivation of the fire and water elements.
This path could not possibly lead to the end. The opposing facets were too narrow, far from the universal balance and opposition of positive and negative.
"It seems I have to cultivate the Five Elements after all."
"The Five Elements Generating Cycle is balance. And the Mutual Generation and Overcoming is opposition."
"Compared to the balance and opposition of fire and water, the Five Elements advance a step further."
Chu Hao sighed inwardly. While others only needed to comprehend one elemental power, he needed to master five, plus the additional Thunder Element. He wondered how much more time and effort he would have to invest than others.
Luckily, as a War Venerate begins the cultivation of Divine Sense, there are no restrictions on cultivation time. He could use more time to catch up.
"However, even if my cultivation speed is slower, the power of the Chaos Intent Realm is undeniable. When the power of the Five Elements is mobilized together, who can be my adversary?"
Chu Hao heard from Fat Cat that in Ancient Times, there were no lack of geniuses who cultivated several elements simultaneously, and even a few who cultivated all six, whose combat power far surpassed their peers. Of course, there were also those who were extremely proficient in one aspect, and their combat power was not weak, because specialization meant faster cultivation and they could suppress with their realm.
He took out the second Heart of Elements and continued refining.
"Thunder Element comprehension will rely on the Heart of Elements for promotion, consider it a bonus. The Five Elements are my main focus because generating and overcoming each other, they must achieve a delicate balance. If I use a Heart of Elements, it would result in one elemental power becoming too strong and affecting the balance."
"Unless I can obtain Hearts of Elements of all five kinds at the same time, otherwise, I'd better cultivate on my own!"
Three days later, Chu Hao refined the second Heart of Elements and concluded his retreat.
He was the last to finish; the others had long since finished their work, and some had even taken on missions to earn points.
Su Wanyue and the other women immediately came over, they had already picked out a few missions and were waiting for him to come out of his retreat to complete them together.
Chu Hao flipped through the list. The missions varied, some required going to the deep sea to harvest an extremely rare pearl, some called for slaying a dreadful fiend in the Extreme Flame Desert, and others involved exploring ancient ruins to get a sense of their situation.
Ancient Times had left behind countless ruins, and the Nine States were immensely vast. There were too many ruins that no one had yet set foot in. Some were at the War General level, some at the War Venerate level, others at the War God level, and there were even some that surpassed War Gods, such as the ruins that the Heaven Talented Assembly would enter.
Some ruins were very safe, serving as training grounds for the youth during Ancient Times, while others were incredibly dangerous, being the strongholds of great sects, absolutely forbidden to trespass.
Thus, exploring these ruins became very necessary. If they were suitable for cultivation, they could be used to train juniors. If they were actually strongholds of others, corresponding experts would enter to see if they could gain any advantages.
The Ancient Times were too glorious. Whether it was martial arts, Tool-Forging, or Alchemy, they were far superior to the present times. Nowadays, as long as something was unearthed, labeling it with the words "Ancient Times" would make it sell well.
Chu Hao decisively chose to go on an exploration of the ruins. Exploring merely meant clarifying the purpose of the ruins without needing to delve too deep. However, if it was within his capabilities, Chu Hao wouldn't mind venturing deeper to acquire some treasures.
"Chu Hao, come out!" Just as the four had agreed on going to an ancient site numbered 550, a shout came from outside the door.
"It's that annoying ghost again!" the Barbaric Girl immediately said with irritation.
"Who?" Chu Hao casually asked.
"An underling of the Dragon Crown Prince, a guy named Xie Huan," Su Wanyue said indifferently.
"Just a lapdog, huh? He was quite perky the other day, looking to challenge you!" Gu Qingcheng added.
"Challenge me?" Chu Hao couldn't help but laugh, "Why?"
"Naturally, it's because of Yun Cai," Gu Qingcheng said, pulling the Barbaric Girl closer. "This little lady is now considered a Saintess of the Dragon Race, with quite a high status, even referred to as a little princess. Now, the young ones of the Alien Races are all eager to marry her."
"Heehee, am I really that popular?" the girl held her cheeks in her hands, sporting a narcissistic expression.
"However, when she was still overseas, Yun Cai kept bringing you up constantly. Now that she's here, she's been sticking to you all the time. She has certainly attracted enough enmity for you, so get ready for a series of challenges from numerous Heaven Talented of the Alien Races," Gu Qingcheng said with a playful smile.
"Fighting, huh? I like it!" The girl's eyes lit up as she patted Chu Hao's shoulder. "You're not allowed to fight for me!"
"Others are challenging Chu Hao, not you!" Gu Qingcheng splashed her with a dose of reality.
"Why!" the girl cried loudly, "Do they look down on me? Waaah, I'm so angry now!"
This girl!
Chu Hao and the other two just shook their heads; she seemed to know a lot, yet understood nothing.
"Chu Hao, too scared to come out?" The voice from outside called again.
"Isn't he just the Dragon Crown Prince's lapdog? And he's worthy of pursuing the Dragon Race's little princess?" Chu Hao didn't pay heed, just smiled and spoke to the three women.
"It's not for chasing after Yun Cai, but because the Dragon Crown Prince has already declared he would never let a Saintess of the Dragon Race marry a human. So naturally, his lapdog has to hop to and fro," Gu Qingcheng shrugged, then her expression turned serious, "But you should still be cautious. The Dragon Crown Prince's subordinates include quite some experts, with several at the Peak War Venerate level."
Chu Hao nodded. Although his combat power was extremely strong, capable of fighting across five levels, his current cultivation was still too low. The key point was that most students who could enter this academy had the ability to fight across levels; the difference was just a matter of how many levels.
Peak War Venerates, even if they didn't have the capability to fight across levels, would undoubtedly not be his match, and the possibility of that was very small.
"How about this Xie Huan?" Chu Hao asked again.
"Seventh-tier War Venerate, very strong!" Su Wanyue stated.
Previously, everyone knew Chu Hao could fight across five levels unbeaten, so the individuals sent to deal with him would definitely surpass this level.
However, Chu Hao was confident. His attack power could indeed cross five levels, but when it came to defensive power... he figured even the most powerful War Venerates couldn't kill him! That's because he harbored the Laws of Life within him.
Laws, these were above even the Upper Three Realms. Even if Chu Hao couldn't actively operate them, even just a trace was enough to let him stand undefeated against War Venerates.
This advantage could at least continue until he reached War God.
"A very good opponent, can't let him go!" Chu Hao's eyes lit up, and he immediately charged out the door.
As he opened the door, he saw a proud and imposing youth standing at the entrance, his body exuding a powerful aura, with his extraordinarily thick arms swirling in circles of golden light.
Upon seeing Chu Hao, the other party couldn't help but show a look of arrogance, saying, "Chu Hao, you finally dare to come out!"
Chu Hao thought, the Alien Races were descendants of Divine Beasts and humans. Those with the surname Shi were descendants of the Divine Beast Golden Mane Lion; surnamed Long meant the Dragon Race; and Feng, the descendants of the Divine Beast Phoenix.
Then what about this surname Xie, Crab?
I wonder if it's the Dungeness Crab, King Crab, or maybe even the Chinese mitten crab.
Speaking of which, he still doubted the deliciousness of the earth's Chinese mitten crab.
"If I kill you, will you revert to your original form?" Chu Hao asked with interest.
"What!" Xie Huan was furiously insulted. This was too much of a slight.
Considering that the Alien Races looked down upon humans, it was evident that despite their mixed blood of Divine Beasts and the Human Race, they took pride in their Divine Beast lineage and disdained being human. Therefore, Chu Hao's comment about "returning to their original form" was a severe provocation for him.
In their view, the "original form" was something sublime and not to be defiled.
"How dare you insult my race, I demand a duel with you!" Xie Huan pointed a finger right in front of Chu Hao's nose. (To be continued.
