Eternal Heavenly Emperor

Chapter 45: Achievements with a Single Sword

The city gates have been breached!

Chu Hao was momentarily stunned, then he drew his Red Shadow Sword and dashed towards the base of the city walls.

"Listen to me, all of you, we must hold our ground at all costs!" The officer quickly snapped out of his daze, "For the sake of all the people in the city, for your fathers and mothers, wives and children, we must hold this position to the death!"

"Archers, keep shooting; everyone else, follow me down!"

"Yes!" The soldiers roared in response, brandishing their weapons and descending from the city wall.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Outside the city, the terrifying army of ferocious beasts began to move.

Chu Hao reached the bottom of the city, only to see the city gate smashed open by force, leaving a sizable breach. The bull that had caused the damage was only halfway through, two of its three sharp horns broken, lying motionless on the ground, presumably dead from the impact.

There was a silver lining, however. The bull's massive body effectively acted as a gate itself, preventing all but the smaller-sized ferocious beasts from penetrating, if left unmoved.

"Hiss!" A six-legged pangolin squeezed through the crack first. With a bang, it was immediately met with a slashing sword from the guards; but its scaly armor was so tough that the blow merely knocked it down without causing injury.

The pangolin struggled to drag the rest of its body through, then with a long tongue and bared sharp teeth, it hissed menacingly at the surrounding guards.

Then, a Red-tailed Raccoon burrowed its way in.

"Kill!" The guards shouted, slashing wildly.

Because the entry was so narrow, although the beasts had a vast army outside, they could only pass through one by one. This fortuitous terrain gave the humans a numerical advantage on their side.

The blades hacked away frantically. Despite the ferocious beasts' strong defenses, they couldn't withstand the multitude of swords all striking at once. The beasts' vanguard was swiftly slaughtered, their blood spreading and filling the air with the stench of death.

"Good, hold the line just like this!" The officer had descended from the city walls, "As long as our champions kill the leader that sparked this beast tide, these ferocious beasts will disperse on their own!"

Ferocious beasts wouldn't normally unite to attack a city unless led by one or several powerful and intelligent beasts. Using their overwhelming force, they would command the lesser beasts, creating a tide of ferocious creatures!

The more high-level ferocious beasts involved, the larger the scale of the ensuing beast tide. Typically, a creature from the Vajra Realm could mobilize around ten thousand lesser beasts. Judging by the size of this attack, there must be at least a dozen creatures from the Vajra Realm!

With the city gates as a defensive barrier, humans actually gained a temporary overwhelming advantage, slaying each beast that managed to squeeze through while the torrent of arrows from the city wall also dealt considerable damage to the group of advancing beasts.

Sizzle! Sizzle!

But at that moment, the bull on the ground suddenly stirred!

It wasn't that it had come back to life or revived, but some formidable force was dragging it away!

"Damn it, grab that beast quickly, the gate must not be fully opened!" The officer was momentarily startled before shouting out commands. If the bull was moved away, the gates would be wide open, allowing not one or two, but a horde of ferocious beasts to flood in.

Immediately, over a dozen men pounced on the bull, holding it down with all their might.

Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!

Yet the bull was still being pulled out inch by inch, albeit more slowly now.

"We need more people! More people!" The officer cried out.

More men rushed forward, hugging the waists and legs of those in front because it was impossible to get a grip directly on the great bull's body.

But still, the bull's body shifted outward!

Hiss!

Everyone around was shocked. What kind of monster was on the other side, possessing such fearsome strength?

Bang!

Just then, the bull, along with the clump of men clinging to it, was suddenly flung with increased speed. With a thunderous crash, the entire gate splintered apart. A giant gorilla, standing ten meters tall, was positioned where the gates once were, its right arm raised in a throwing gesture, and the bull was tossed far away!

--Including the dozen men who had been clinging to it!

Bang!

The bull's carcass landed among the beast horde behind, and dozens of ferocious beasts immediately howled and attacked. Human screams rang out immediately! The humans who had been efficiently slaying the beasts that trickled into the city were quickly overwhelmed by the number of beasts now assailing the scattered human defenders.

Fortunately, during the struggle, some had released their grip, or even more would have been flung out.

But there was no time to contemplate that, as the gates were wide open and the tide of ferocious beasts began pouring in!

"Kill!"

Everyone bellowed, determined to hold the beasts at this point, as the humans still had the terrain working in their favor here, enabling them to maintain a localized numerical balance. Otherwise, if all the beasts entered the city, it would be a total disaster.

Clang, the Red Shadow Sword unsheathed, and Chu Hao silently launched into the fray.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Unfolding the Izumo Sword Technique with astonishing speed, a crimson glow danced, and immediately three beasts fell with blood spraying from their throats.

His silent assault greatly boosted the morale, prompting those around to shout loudly and charge forward, weapons drawn.

This was a battle to the death!

The ferocious beasts showed no mercy and accepted no surrender. It was kill or be killed!

Chu Hao's mind was clear as he moved nimbly, continuously cycling through the first five forms of the Izumo Sword Technique. With incredibly high efficiency, he could slay a ferocious beast with no more than three strikes.

However, he couldn't afford to use the Sixth Form lightly; it took too much time to charge, and after using it, he would experience about three seconds of weakness -- which was far too dangerous in this situation!

Bloodshed erupted all around!

Beasts constantly fell with a thunderous crash, and human corpses were strewn in odd places.

Boom! Boom!

The giant gorilla struggled to squeeze through the gate; its massive size caused the walls to shake, and dust kept falling from above as if there had been an earthquake.

"Kill that gorilla, it must not be allowed in!" Chu Hao immediately said and took the lead charging toward the colossal creature.

This big fellow's strength was at least 50,000 to 60,000 catties; its destructive power was terrifying!

"Why haven't the experts arrived to support us yet?" someone anxiously cried out. The warriors fighting here were mainly from the Lesser Mahayana realm and the Middle Mahayana realm. If a single Great Mahayana realm ferocious beast got in, it would deal a massive blow to them.

"Never mind that, quickly stop this beast!" others also shouted. The destructive power of this gorilla was absolutely horrific!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Blades and swords hacked wildly, but the gorilla, swinging just one arm, sent everyone reeling. In the face of a fifth-tier Great Mahayana realm ferocious beast, they were far too fragile.

Chu Hao took a deep breath; he had to take action, he had to make a decision!

Izumo Sword Technique, Sixth Form!

No time for careful thought now!

The Red Shadow Sword thrust diagonally, its tip pointing slightly downward, as Chu Hao entered a state of power accumulation.

Other people attacking the gorilla created an opportunity for Chu Hao to unleash his powerful move. Three seconds was a very short time; the Red Shadow Sword trembled slightly, and the Treasure Artifact on his wrist also released a mighty force.

At this moment, Chu Hao could no longer concern himself with hiding his strength!

Go all out!

Draw the sword!

He shot out, charging toward the gorilla.

Clearly, the gorilla did not take him seriously, just casually waving one arm while still using the other to move its body.

Boom!

Chu Hao's mind suddenly became as clear as the vast sky, time seemed to slow in his eyes, and he analyzed the gorilla's attack with crystal clarity. His figure shifted, and he moved his feet as if he were drunk.

Yet, miraculously, he dodged the gorilla's strike!

To achieve this feat, besides Chu Hao's strong analytic and prediction abilities, it was also due to others attacking at the same time, which divided the gorilla's attention. Otherwise, with the attack speed of a fifth-tier Great Mahayana realm beast, he would have had no chance to dodge!

But no matter what, Chu Hao did indeed dodge the gorilla's attack!

Now... it was his turn to show his strength!

Red Shadow Sword strike!

Chu Hao thrust the sword, aiming directly for the gorilla's right eye!

No matter how ferocious a beast is, the eyes are undoubtedly its most vulnerable part!

A hint of fierce light and even a trace of fear appeared in the gorilla's eyes!

Thrust!

The sword tip penetrated!

The Red Shadow Sword was exceptionally sharp, and coupled with the power of the final stance of Izumo Sword Technique, plus Chu Hao's strength and the force from the Treasure Artifact, which was as high as ten thousand catties, the sword went in hilt-deep!

"Aoww—" The gorilla let out a thunderous roar. Its huge body shook violently; thumping, it vibrated the walls, unleashing even greater power in its pain and squeezed its body over!

Chu Hao, having delivered his thrust, felt weak and feebly withdrew the sword, staggering back limply.

The gorilla rose, blood spurting from its right eye. It roared in pain, wildly flailing its arms, smashing not only the human soldiers like dry weeds but also killing many of the ferocious beasts!

It went into a frenzy, no longer distinguishing friend from foe and blindly rampaged!

Chu Hao gasped for breath, the final stance of Izumo Sword Technique having drained all his strength in an instant. Thankfully, the gorilla was now in a state of frenzied confusion and not deliberately targeting him!

Even so, he was still thrown flying by the wild strength, his clothes torn to shreds.

But that didn't matter, as long as he wasn't hurt. Just a breath's time would allow him to recover.

After a few seconds of chaos, the gorilla finally regained its senses. With its one eye, it fixed its gaze on Chu Hao, emitting a chilling coldness.

This weak human had actually hurt it!

Die! Die! Die!

With a roar, it swung a palm at Chu Hao.

The fierce wind howled as if a meteorite were falling!

This simply couldn't be resisted; the difference in strength was too great! Without any hesitation, Chu Hao turned tail and ran!

The gorilla also chased after him without a second thought; it was determined to kill this detestable human!

A furious chase between man and ape ensued immediately.
