Chapter 2423  Final Preparation

Alex hadn't expected to learn a Dao next to the Voidgate for quite some time, but to his pleasant surprise, he actually did end up learning one.

It wasn't a Time Dao, which was what he had wanted to learn. Instead, it was the Dao of Spatial Expansion, the same Dao that the Dragon Emperor had used against him in their battles.

Alex had some ideas on how he could use this Dao in his daily life, whether in battles or his alchemy sessions. Expanding space would be quite helpful in many situations, after all.

Alex tried learning the Dao of Spatial Contraction too—the same Dao that Pearl had—but failed to gain it. It appeared he needed more time with that Dao to learn it completely.

Sadly, by the time he had to leave the place, he hadn't learned any Time Dao despite getting very close to several of them. He regretted not focusing on just one in the end, but the regret wasn't much since he could always learn it later.

As soon as he found his aunt, he could have her help him learn all of these Daos.

Alex finished his final session of cultivation in this place and opened his eyes. The Voidgate he had expanded to let in more aura at the start had closed down to become just a slit in the fabric of reality.

Rosemist sat next to him, simply waiting for him to emerge from his cultivation session.

"You're not focusing on your Origin at all," she said. "Why?"

Alex looked toward her. "There's not much I can do with it since I've reached the threshold before breakthrough," he said. "Unless I reach the next realm, there's not much I can do."

Rosemist shook her head. "I understand that. I meant using aura. You never absorbed any aura for your Origin."

"Ah! That's because I'm waiting before I decide what my Creation is going to be. I don't want to make a hasty decision," he said. That was, of course, a lie. He just couldn't absorb any aura right now without ruining his Origins.

"I still say you should just turn the Void into your Creation. You clearly know both Time and Space auras, so it will be the best Creation you can have," she said.

Alex agreed with her, if only to stop her from bringing this up again.

He was almost certainly going to turn the Void into his Creation; he just needed to reach the Immortal Transcendent realm first. Once he reached that realm, he would turn everything into Creation as soon as he could.

"I believe it is time I leave," Alex said. "There's not much time before I need to go to the tournament again."

"Hmm? You still have four months," Rosemist said.

"Three months," Alex corrected. "The tournament starts a month earlier this time to account for our Disciples' competition. We need to get there even before that, so I need to leave as soon as I can. I have to make sure Momo is doing alright too."

Rosemist nodded. "I can't argue there," she said with a smile. "I suppose I won't be having your company for a while in the future."

"I will come back before I leave," Alex said. "But yeah, it likely won't be for a long time."

Rosemist seemed a little saddened, but not much. "However long it may take, I am not going anywhere," she said. "It's both a blessing and a curse of mine."

Alex thought for a bit and wanted to ask, "You can leave this place, can you not?"

"I can, but in doing so I endanger myself," Rosemist said, her eyes dropping to the ground.

"Why is that?" Alex asked. "I'm very curious."

"It's just something I can't change about myself," she said. "Although, it is not something I would want to change. If I do, I might end up changing myself."

Alex still struggled to understand her cryptic words after all these years. "Since I will be leaving now, can you tell me about those things you promised? Like what a Child of Heaven is," he asked.

Rosemist looked up, a mischievous smile on her face. "I believe I said that I would reveal this information only when you come visit me for the last time," she said. "So you will have to wait for a while to find out."

Alex chuckled a little. "It's just a few months from now anyway. Can't you tell me?" he asked.

Rosemist shook her head. "What would I do if you suddenly decided not to return? A promise is a promise," she said.

Alex shrugged in the end and could only laugh. "Very well then, I will expect an answer when I return."

"And you shall have one," Rosemist said. "I don't break my promises after all."

Alex nodded. "Then I will leave for now. Take care of yourself."

"You too," Rosemist said. "Go win that tournament."

"I will."

Alex walked out of the cave where he had been for the past two years, leaving Rosemist behind. He greeted the snake and then made his way down the mountain to the western side of the continent, where he would find the teleportation formation to the Threeflower Continent, which would then lead him to the Trueflame Continent.

Alex arrived back in the Silvermist Court some days later and quickly went to meet with everyone.

Silvermist was busy making pills for the possible next few months he would be absent from his station. He needed to prepare for the time he would be gone, so Nurei had forced him to make all those pills now.

Pearl hadn't done anything except cultivate, and his Origin was growing well over the past few years. Soon, they would reach their threshold, and he too could begin focusing on his cultivation base.

Momo had cultivated very hard over the past few years and done as well as she could. She was a step away from entering the Saint Core realm but had stopped at that point.

Partially, it was because she didn't have the time to focus on her own cultivation. But also, because she did not want to go through Qi deviation. With how nervous she had grown over the past few months regarding her upcoming tournament, she did not want to go through an Inner Demon.

It would have a lot of weapons to use against her at this moment if she did. And a single Qi deviation would be enough to lose her the chance to enter the tournament.

Alex realized how nervous she was after talking to her for a bit. He couldn't help but laugh.

"Why are you scared? I've already passed," Alex told her. "You have no reason to be nervous."

"But… if I don't do well, you won't get that other pin, Master," Momo said. "Don't you need that pin?"

"I already have one," Alex told her. "Another pin isn't likely going to do much for me anyway."

It was a lie, but one she needed to hear.

Alex talked to her for a bit longer, calming her down. When she was fully calm, he finally began testing her to see if she was ready. This would be the last preparation before the final competition.
