Chapter 25: The arrival of a concerned sister
"Your wife is severely dehydrated, coupled with the fact that she hasn't eaten for days and her existing medical records. It is not a surprise that she fainted," the doctor sitting behind the white table read the reports on his table. His brown hair was neatly gelled back, and his red eyes were shackled behind his glasses. His head was lowered as he looked at the reports with a frown.
Earlier, he was conversing with the psychiatrist at his hospital, and she told him that Ariana was battling anxiety.
He turned to the next page and after reading the information on it, he raised his head and stared at Noah, "Are you aware of your wife's health?" The doctor questioned, for he felt that if Noah knew that his wife was battling with anxiety, he wouldn't have ignored her for days until she fainted.
Noah was, of course, not aware of what Ariana was suffering from, as he never paid attention to her. However, he could sense that the doctor and the elder nurse were looking at him as if he were the scummiest man on the surface of the earth. If he were to say that he was not aware of his wife's health, then they would look at him with even more contempt.
He could only lie and say, "I am aware, doctor, it's just that my wife is careless with her meals and health sometimes." He paused and pretended to be concerned as he asked, "Is my wife fine?"
'She is dehydrated and malnourished, you tell me if she is fine' Doctor Aiden thought inwardly in a slightly sarcastic manner. He then dropped his gaze back to the reports and continued, "She is fine. We have administered glucose and a few more things, she will wake up very soon."
Noah breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she was fine.
He thanked Doctor Aiden and took his leave, but as soon as he stepped out of the office, the elder nurse rolled her eyes and said to Doctor Aiden, "It's clear that he is not aware of anything! How could a husband not know that his wife had not eaten for days, and dehydration? Even if his wife forgets to eat, there is no way she would forget to drink, right?"
The elder nurse was sure that Noah was torturing his wife.
"Mable, be careful," Doctor Aiden said to the elderly woman. He glanced at the door and then turned to look at the elderly woman before saying, "That man is the CEO of the Nelson corporation, if he catches us gossiping about his matters, then our hospital will be in trouble."
"He should be careful if he doesn't want others to gossip behind his back," snorted Mable as she stood up from the stool on which she was sitting and then added swiftly, "If he dared to do it then he should be prepared to be condemned."
Doctor Aiden shook his head as a sigh escaped from his lips. He knew that Mable was a woman with strong beliefs and with her being his aunt and the sister of the leader of the De Luca family, she was fearless when mentioning her thoughts.
However, he hoped that Mable would keep her thoughts to herself because he really did not want to give another reason to the Nelsons to attack De Lucas.
Outside the room, Noah was making some calls when he heard a voice behind him.
"Noah!"
He turned around and looked at Ariel, who came rushing. She was dressed in a light pink dress that had an ombré blue at the edges of the dress, her blue heels clicked on the floor as she walked towards him.
Worry lined every inch of her face as she came to a stop in front of Noah and asked, "Noah, I heard from Glynn that Ari fainted. What happened? Is she fine?"
Her voice was a perfect mix of worry and anxiousness. Even if Ari was the one hearing it, she would have been fooled by Ariel, much less Noah, who looked at Ariel through rose-tinted glasses.
He smiled at Ariel and replied, "She is fine. It's just that I never expected her body to be this weak." He added with a frown.
When he was young, he could work just fine even without eating and drinking for a week. His father told him that, as the heir and leader of the Nelson corps, this was what was expected of him.
Yet, he only locked up Ari for three days, and she ended up fainting.
Ariel caught the note of panic in his voice, even though Noah was acting nonchalant, she could sense that he was worried about that b*tch. Her heart was brimming with anger when she thought about how Noah brought Ari to the hospital.
She had brainwashed him for years! With her brainwashing, he should have left Ari inside her room where she was locked and left her to die, but instead, he brought her to the hospital!
'Looks like he doesn't hate her enough,' Ariel thought while panicking. She had done so much to make sure that Noah would divorce Ari and marry her. However, instead of hating Ari more, this man was feeling concerned about her!
Ariel was upset in her heart, but she still smiled on the surface and sighed with a relieved look on her face.
"I am glad," she sounded excited, even though she was disappointed that Ari made it out alive.
"Indeed it is a good thing," Mrs. Nelson also sighed in relief when she heard that Ari fainted, she was alarmed. If something happened to that girl, that man would not leave her family alone either.
Glynn, on the other hand, rolled her eyes. She thought that her family was overreacting. She had to disrupt her spa plans and even cancel the appointment all because of this woman, and it turned out that it was only dehydration and malnutrition!
What a waste of her time!
"Okay, she is not dead? Then, can I leave?" She asked her mother with an annoyed voice.
