Enmity of Atlas

Interlude: Ren Incantum 14

“Falfiar gave me a progress report the other day, one which I found rather concerning. It has nothing to do without our territory, it being the desert west of the Thalian, but it worries me nevertheless. I don’t know why, but Elren decided that he would claim the land as his domain, at least in the sense of protecting it and dwelling within it. On paper, this sounds wonderful, some protection for the small tribes living in the desert. But in practice, it seems to be going a lot worse. Elren means well, more or less, but he’s a rather threatening individual, even if he isn’t really doing anything. Supposedly, the native peoples are attempting to migrate out of the desert to escape him, dying to monsters or natural means along the way. The death totals are already surpassing the tens of thousands by Falfiar’s estimate. If it continues at this rate, the monsters in the desert might become bolder, potentially leaving the desert and ravaging the other cities. I’d like to avoid a circumstance like that if we could. I think maybe it’s time for Luradin to consider founding an official city in the desert, one further south than Zerital. I’ve got someone I think would be able to make something like that work. In anycase, I’ll be traveling to meet with Luradin immediately. I’ll probably head through the northern Thalian this time. I haven't traversed through that region yet.”
