Chapter 421: Doing Business with Security (5)
A vehicle transported one sheep at a time until more than thirty sheep were gradually returned to stand in front of Ye Nai.
"How do you plan to handle so many sheep?" the Company Commander asked.
"We'll conduct a comparative experiment," Ye Nai replied.
"Hmm?" Everyone showed expressions of confusion.
"You guys slaughter some and see how much edible meat can be retained. I'll take two sheep to the village and have the villagers slaughter them to see how much edible meat they can retain. If there's a discrepancy, we won't have to waste the meat we don't eat anymore," Ye Nai explained his plan in detail.
"Great idea." Everyone's eyes lit up, nodding in agreement.
"But, are the butchering conditions in the village good?"
However, despite the promising experiment plan, the high standards of the Dahua Country regarding slaughtering standards caused many to hesitate after the initial excitement, as the slaughtering conditions directly affect subsequent processing and consumption stages.
Hearing this, Ye Nai found it reasonable. After pondering it carefully, he asked, "What are the slaughtering conditions here? Have they been inspected? The manor should have its own livestock farm and slaughterhouse."
"Yes, at the edge of the manor is the farm, and not far from the pen there's a small wooden slaughterhouse, where the blood-stained tables inside are already crawling with maggots," someone replied.
"Ugh~" Ye Nai couldn't help showing a disgusted expression; even imagining such a scene was unacceptable, and such a slaughtering environment clearly didn't meet the standards.
"No, the slaughtering conditions here and in the village aren't good. We'll keep them for a few days until we set up our slaughterhouse,"
Ye Nai decisively made a decision. After all, this was good meat bought with gold coins, one would hate to see hygiene standards waste it.
"How about sending them to the Secret Realm? The nearby town has slaughtering conditions." At this point, someone suggested another option.
"That's right!" Everyone thought it was indeed a good idea.
"Are there conditions to slaughter them now?"
"No, we're still cleaning up, the place hadn't been used for so long and had a thick layer of dust."
"No worries, we'll keep them for a few days, I have pasture and clean water," Ye Nai said.
"Alright."
There were no further objections, and the nearby town behind the East Ridge Secret Realm became the best option.
Ye Nai immediately opened the Transmission Port to town No. 2 of the East Ridge Secret Realm and went over with the Company Commander.
Over there, the town was undergoing a full-scale cleaning and disinfection, all lit up and bustling with activity.
Upon hearing about this comparative experiment, the Company Commander who was in charge of affairs there came through the Transmission Port to check the cattle and sheep, continuously assuring they would be well taken care of.
Given the sheer number, entrusting them to the villagers was hardly reassuring, while the Secret Realm had relatively better management and protection conditions.
To find a suitable place to keep these cattle and sheep, Ye Nai traveled through the Transmission Port to East Ridge, right in the open wilderness outside town No.2, where she demonstrated her magical abilities by stimulating the seeds of various shrubs in the soil, right in front of many warriors.
The seeds seemed to be infused with a magical life force, quickly sprouting, growing, gradually forming two circular areas, both fairly spacious despite their uneven and meandering lines, serving as natural temporary pens for the cattle and sheep.
The pen was cleverly designed, offering the cattle and sheep enough space to move around, yet preventing them from easily escaping.
The height of the shrubs just reached the animals' bellies; as they attempted to cross over the top, their soft bellies would scratch against the sharp shrub branches, causing pain and potentially even cutting their thin, sensitive skin.
Additionally, Ye Nai set up a second layer of precaution.
If the cattle and sheep managed to break through this "defense line" and escape, the hidden spores would take effect, causing them to collapse in pain until humans retrieved them back into the pen or directly took them to the slaughterhouse to end their mission.
On the road, the sight of Ye Nai stimulating the shrub fence led the warriors to begin murmuring among themselves.
"Did you feel her superpower disturbance?" one warrior asked quietly.
"No, not at all," another warrior shook his head, his face full of bewilderment.
"How can there be no superpower disturbance when stimulating plants? That's too strange," someone couldn't help but voice a question.
"Isn't she a Space Superpower User? How can she also stimulate plants? Isn't she encroaching on the Wood Element Superpower's territory?" A warrior spoke with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"How many superpowers does she have?" another warrior speculated, "Storage, Transmission, Plant Stimulation, three?"
"So jealous, if only I had so many powerful superpowers," a warrior's eyes twinkled with envy.
"Is she even human? It's amazing," a warrior marveled.
"She has to be; otherwise, this damned war would go on endlessly," another warrior said firmly.
"Indeed, she's one of those legendary people born at the right time, shielded by the country's fortune, who appear in times of crisis," an older warrior spoke with a reverent tone.
"Cough, cough, no superstition, believe in science."
Suddenly, a strange yet authoritative voice interrupted the bold conversations of the warriors from behind.
The warriors, startled by the sudden voice, turned around. Although they didn't recognize the newcomer, upon seeing the person's epaulettes, they immediately stood to attention and saluted.
"Hello, General." They shouted in unison.
In the army, not knowing someone wasn't important; recognizing their epaulettes and addressing them correctly was a basic rule.
Back on the road, after checking the shrub fence, Ye Nai noticed the arrival of a new and unfamiliar guest.
During their mutual greetings, she learned that the guest was actually the Commander of the Northern War Zone based in Daijing, who was visiting there for business and stopped by the warehouse to visit the Secret Realm and Otherworld, never expecting to encounter Ye Nai, which was a pleasant surprise.
Ye Nai understood from the Commander's words the nature of the surprise.
Nevertheless, the current situation wasn't suitable for a deep conversation; she still had work unfinished.
Returning to the Otherworld via the Transmission Port, Ye Nai didn't close the previous Transmission Port but chose to open a brand new one adjacent to it.
She cleverly set the exit of this new Transmission Port within one of the shrub pens, then started herding eight oxen toward it.
The Blue Star humans appeared particularly insignificant when standing in front of these massive cattle, hardly noticed by the cattle at all.
Finding the struggle with the cattle too troublesome, Ye Nai lifted her head and cast a Puppet Curse on them.
In an instant, the cattle seemed to turn into marionettes, obediently following Ye Nai, step by step through the Transmission Port, standing securely in the pen prepared for them.
