Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

Chapter 147: Darius Melton

Just when Mirelle was about to lift the elderly man and toss him outside to danger, a voice echoed from afar.

"Who dares to be rude toward Gardener Aiken?"

"Another retard decided to show up?" Leonard's mood, which had subsided temporarily, started to turn sour again.

Sometime later, a group of people arrived from the building across.

Their gazes were filled with hostility, especially when they spotted the gardener's beaten, like state.

"Which group of barbarians do you hail from?" A noble-like man demanded an answer. There was a trace of disdain hanging on their faces when he saw the group of raggedly dressed women and a merchant man.

Needless to say, their first impression was of Leonard being a wealthy, pathetic, and lustful merchant who had many pleasure slaves.

"A mere merchant dared to intrude upon Fragrant Garden with whores and beat up Gardener Aiken. Who gave you the courage?" The nobleman questioned coldly.

"Relle, slap him." Leonard didn't even bat an eyelid at the nobleman and outright commanded Mirelle to take action.

"Yes, Boss." Mirelle adhered to the command. She dropped Aiken down like some dead fish and instantly blinked away. In the next instance, she appeared in front of the nobleman and was about to slap him across the cheek.

"Y-You actually dare to lay your hands on a noble?" The latter was baffled by their daring action. He stood in place, clearly flustered by the hand that was flying toward his cheek.

The nobleman thought they were definitely going to be bruised, whereas Mirelle was certain that she could deliver the slap with ease.

Unfortunately, she couldn't make proper contact when a barrier suddenly emerged and impeded her action.

The barrier power was no joke, prompting Mirelle to keep a fixed distance. Her eyes then trailed to the castor, a guard who was standing next to a dignified man.

Meanwhile, the nobleman appeared to be delighted once he spotted the dignified man from behind him.

"Thank you for saving me, Marquis Darius!" He bowed his head and exclaimed with utmost gratitude.

Marquis Darius, aka Darius Melton, the representative for the Noble Faction within the city of Velastra, appeared in a majestic form. They were dressed in noble clothes befitting that of a Marquis and emitted a natural, authoritative aura.

Despite being thanked, Darius didn't even glance at the nobleman. Instead, he made a brief slicing gesture with his right hand.

Soon, the barrier that originally protected the nobleman started to shrink.

"Wait, what is happening?" The noble man panicked in fright, their hands extending outward in an attempt to stop the shrinking barrier.

Unfortunately, their strength was nothing in front of the powerful barrier.

In less than a few seconds, the space around him had already tightened, his body being squished. His eyes were filled with dread.

"Please forgive me, Marquis Darius." He tried to glance at Darius and plead for mercy. Alas, the barrier had shrunk far too much. His body could also no longer endure the pressure and was pulverized into meat paste.

The colorful barrier was quickly dyed in blood, but none of them landed on the beautiful flowers. They were all condensed and reduced into nothingness.

As for who was responsible for the gruesome death, the killer was none other than the guard standing next to Darius, whose face was covered by a mask. Besides the mask, they were covered from top to bottom in black, incapable of discerning any characteristics from them.

There was also a group of nobles standing behind Darius.

Their faces turned ghastly pale when they witnessed Darius's decisiveness and ruthlessness in killing a fellow noble without any regard.

Even though the nobleman was only a baron, it was still a legitimate noble status—one that was authorized by the Aldros Empire.

As the crowd began to fear for their life, Darius suddenly changed his cold expression to a warm one.

"Do pardon the rude man's remarks, Researcher Caroline. I'll make sure his family will be eliminated alongside for daring to call you a whore." He approached Caroline and said gently. His statement quickly jolted the other nobles awake as to why he was so ruthless in killing the previous Baron.

"So it's Researcher Caroline here."

"No wonder. It's indeed our fault for not greeting her immediately."

"That Baron sure got off easy for dying so painlessly."

The nobles began to chime in and lie with a straight face.

How was the death anything related to painlessness?

The Baron was faced with a slow death of being compressed together and turned into meat paste. The horror and pain that it had to endure before death were psychologically traumatizing.

They didn't even feel any sympathy for the Baron's death. In fact, they even felt infuriated that his action had inadvertently caused them to be on the opposite side of Caroline.

"You're being too polite, Marquis Darius." Finally, the person of attention spoke up and responded politely.

"I'm only here to take refuge with Merchant Vincent from the berserk slaves outbreak. Unfortunately, the Gardener Aiken wanted to boot me out, and even threatened to ravage me in some chamber." She continued, explaining the gist of the situation.

Darius's expression was calm on the surface. But silently, he was already fuming and wondering if this bunch of people had no eyes.

Of all the people they wanted to throw their weight around and bully them with their pathetic status, they actually chose someone he wished to rope in from that cursed Lord Wesley.

Were they trying to ruin his path to glory?

"What an oversight on my part." Darius lamented and snapped his fingers.

In the next instance, his personal guard vanished from the spot and appeared close to Mirelle.

Mirelle was somewhat alarmed, but didn't react because the guard actually took hold of Gardener Aiken and crushed all four of his limbs.

Poor Gardener Aiken could only screech in agony, unable to speak properly to defend himself. No, even if he wasn't restrained by Mirelle's mana, his fate was already sealed.

'Why would you stay silent if you were a prominent Researcher?' Aiken was full of bitterness. Had she taken a step forward and introduced herself, then he wouldn't have even dared to interrupt the burial process.

While Aiken regretted his actions, Leonard was enlightened. 'So this is the Noble Faction's representative, Darius. He sure knows how to take control of the situation.'
