Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

Chapter 129: Temporary Freedom

Shortly after Irene consumed the first Restoration Potion, there were indeed no effects.

Without any mana to utilize, she couldn't activate the effect to receive the restoration process.

Knowing that the potion was rendered useless, Irene's body jolted slightly.

"I-I'm sorry for wasting your precious potion." She hurriedly apologized and bowed her head. As if that wasn't enough, she once again tried to crawl toward him and service him to alleviate the situation.

Her repeated actions in thinking that serving him would mean less punishment or harm inadvertently caused Leonard to lose his composure.

He was ultimately still a human with emotions.

No matter how hard he tried to suppress his emotions and inner thoughts, there were bound to be times when he would slip up.

"Mirelle, I'm done with the disguise." Leonard softly spoke. Despite the softness in his tone, the others could sense his extreme murderous desire.

Even Claudia was no exception and felt tremendous pressure pressing down on her.

'What has gotten to this Crown Prince?' Claudia was astonished by his reaction. She didn't even see him reacting so intensely back when she openly admitted to killing many of his crewmates in the Astral Gale.

Yet now he was actually losing his composure because of a woman of low status?

Not to mention Claudia's bewilderment, Mirelle was equally astonished by Leonard's sudden declaration of ending his disguise.

Only Irene and Shirley remained confused by the situation.

Irene herself was trapped in a small bubble, her brain being brainwashed to an unimaginable level. In the meantime, Shirley discovered her Master was actually in disguise.

'What is the Master's true identity then?' Shirley was stunned by the sudden information. Nevertheless, she kept her mouth shut because she could sense that even a tiny mistake would ignite Leonard's burning rage.

Probably the only way to dissipate the burning rage from within him was Irene, who was the root cause.

"Please don't be mad… I'll do my best. I'm sorry." Irene panicked uncontrollably, her hands dropping the remaining Restoration Potions on the floor. She thought that she was lacking severely, which resulted in Leonard's constant refusal of her services.

"I'll do well, Sir. Don't send me to the dark chamber." Irene pleaded, and tears began to seep out of the corner of her eyes.

"Dark chamber?" Confused, Leonard darted his eyes to Shirley.

In response, Shirley shook her head and showed a helpless expression as well.

"The dark chamber is where they send disobedient women to be locked up, where no light can be seen. They would then throw in some animals, such as snakes and mice, to roam around to torment them." Claudia suddenly chimed in and explained.

"Those were only the basics. In the most extreme cases, they would be chained and tied in midair, subjected to humiliation, to things where I'm afraid I might commit a killing spree if spoken aloud." She continued, choosing to leave it in a subtle manner.

"And you know it well because?" Leonard's eyes narrowed.

"I know it well because I was commissioned to kill someone who owned a Slave Coop elsewhere. I've personally witnessed one of the dark chambers and how the women were tied up there with barely any life signals." Claudia explained swiftly, afraid that he might have mistaken her for having partaken in such a matter.

Nodding, he could discern that Claudia wasn't the type to commit such an atrocity either.

"Well, I can temporarily grant you freedom." He suddenly said with a detached coldness. "Kill as many of these Slave Coop owners as you can."

"Eh?" Claudia's eyebrows raised up. Surely, he didn't mean what he said, right?

Didn't he know that the slave collar wouldn't remain as effective if a slave got too far away from their owner?

"What? Hesitating to regain freedom after completing the task?" Leonard snickered coldly.

"Hmph, like I'll believe you." Claudia hissed. "Almost every corner in Velastra has your people on standby."

It was only now that Claudia recalled Logan's presence and the subsequent "Shadows" under Leonard's control.

Even though it appeared that the Crown Prince didn't bring an army to the city, the truth was a far cry from that.

Rather than bringing an army, he already had an army stationed in the city.

Moreover, his previous outburst and anger about being done with the disguise meant that he had had enough of the game.

A storm was no longer brewing.

It was already looming over Velastra!

And thunderstorms could be happening at any given moment!

"Well, are you going to do some killings or continue to remain here as my slave?" Leonard didn't even deny her claim.

What she stated was indeed a fact.

He had no intention of releasing someone dangerous like Claudia back to the wild.

Once released, he would have to constantly be wary and watch out for her potential assassination.

Worse, she had already learned way too many of his secrets to be kept alive if she were to escape his grasp.

Claudia also knew her fate was long sealed. She simply refused to admit it after struggling and training for such a long time.

"I see that you have agreed. Now off you go." Leonard sneered after seeing her relentless expression.

"I know you have weapons hidden in you, so I won't bother giving you any. As for the potion, you can ask your debtor for one if she's willing to give you."

Having been called out, Mirelle was stupefied.

'You've taken the majority of my restoration potion and now you still want me to give out more??!' Her face twisted into an ugly expression.

As if knowing her resentment, Leonard casually explained. "This slave was requested to be kept alive by you. Since that's the case, shouldn't you be the one responsible for looking after her?"

"I-I—"

Speechless, Mirelle was unable to refute his words.

Sometime later, she retrieved 3 potions and handed them to Claudia.

"Don't think I'll be thankful," Claudia readily snatched away the potions and said arrogantly.

She accepted them because she figured it might help her recover her previous shattered magic circles. If it weren't for that slim possibility, then she would have never accepted anything from Mirelle.
